I'm not comparing Dell and Fujitsu, I said that this laptotp is still overevalued; nowadays it still costs about 400€ and gives a lot of problems over time; I said that my newer Fujitsu is better because is technologically more recent, the materials are good and costs half. Also Fujitsu manufactures high technology and isn't "cheap garbage", combines German precision with Japanese quality. It's tough stuff.

The 1gb version is very slow after 1-2 years. It freezes alot after 30mins- 2 hours and freezes for about 3 minutes straight. its fine enough for me... will more ram sort the freezing problem?
@96chrismann You cannot just say a certain laptop is slow after 1-2 years.. in your case your hard drive is most likely almost full and it's caked with viruses ones you don't even know of.
Download ccleaner It's free and run it
Delete any unneeded stuff
Get some decent Antivirus not Norton.
Or if you're really lazy and want to do what most people do
A factory restore
Also ditch vista if you can it's the worst operating system.. it uses alot of unnecessary services
@96chrismann You could always add some RAM yourself and you could reinstall windows, that should give it a little boost but there is no getting around the slow processor :/
We've been DELL people for years. But in recent years they've cheapened their computers to where they're no longer the best deal out there. This model (the 1545) has been pretty decent until a few days when the hard drive died. We've used it little and it's only about 16 months old. Dells are made in China and China makes some good products but also a lot of junk. Today's Dell machines seem to have drifted more toward the junk side of the scale.
Battery lifes not to great mine had 3gb ram its really dumb why not give it 4gb ram it only raise the price by like $15 bucks and the screen doesn't really look to great mine feel off a couch while closed and got a green line on the screen also the plastic around the screen cracked. Not a good pc if you have a careless sister and dad. DO NOT buy this if your going to be sharing it with others. oh yea the video cards the worst ive ever seen in my life btw
I have this laptop, anyone considering buying it, simple advice, DON'T!!!! Don't get me wrong, its ok, but just ok, thats all. There are many computers so much better out there, its a dirt magnet, its very slow, and if you are like me, therefore have very little patience, this is not the right PC, it looks good, but it gets horribly hot, very slow, very dirty, and the battery life sucks....

I agree with Boricuamm707 in a way, the charger is really horrible, but since i got this universal charger it has had no other problems. This is a great computer for those who just want to do regular stuff on the computer but i would not recommend this for gaming unless you get one with a very good graphics card and processor.

I've replaced the charger 3 times already with no physical damage done to the charger every time. And my 1 year warranty expired recently and within 30 days my hardware has been damaged (The geeksquad couldnt figure it out)
And now Dell doesnt give me cust service because the warranty expired. Im buyin a Mac.
First of all If my Charger Broke 3 times in one year i would have the Charging Connector Checked out Rather Than the charger itself. The "Geeksquad" No nothing and just try to sell you the most expensive thing they can,

I have this also. I got it about 2 years ago. So far, I consider it to be reliable with windows vista. I see no problems. I do use it for games and simulators and there is little lags. Not a big deal to me. I expect to have this for another 4-5 years. I won't throw it out. Probably use it for maintenance since I am learning how to fix computers. My next laptop or computer should be an alienware, or a mac
my only comment...its so fragile after 1.5 years --> keyboard is messed up, mouse buttons are shaky and sometimes dont respond, and my laptop hinge are so soft and one of them broke and im just maintaining it as much as i can :S software is alright, i dont game so dont care about that...dell service is SHIT! they r stupid, slow, and not helpful and i dont care if they r located in india or whatever but they just dont provide a good service :S my dad had an older version and it waas a soliid lapt

I have the same laptop. Came with windows 7. My problem is it idles at about 50% computer usage. I cant figure out why the usage is so high at idle. I've turn most of the services off that I dont need and have a good tweaking dell inspiron 1540 program to control "start up" programs etc. any advice?? What does yours idle at?
i got the 1525... but it broke. im thinking of getting this, but i was wondering... on the 1525 you've got a hdmi port for use with a hdtv... does this have one too? and on the 1525 next to the power button, there is a couple of touch sensitive icons, for volume etc... doesnt look like they are there on this one
I have the 64-bit version of the dell inspiron 1545. This laptop is pretty much good for everything EXCEPT gaming. If you are a serious gamer, do not buy this laptop. The one problem is if you run anti-virus programs (other than windows defender), it slows down your computer by a lot...... I have tested the amount of time it takes my computer to boot and go on a web browser (40 seconds) and with avg free (2 minutes).

this laptop is alright. i have owned one for a year and a half. i have not had the best of luck with it. i have had to talk to the dell people for around 5 hours on the phone total and had to send it in twice. its a little flimsy, and scratches, dents, and fingerprints very easily. if I were thinking about purchasing this laptop, i would spend a little more money and get a better kind like a hp or vaio.

this laptop is alright. i have owned one for a year and a half. i have not had the best of luck with it. i have had to talk to the dell people for around 5 hours on the phone total and had to send it in twice. its a little flimsy, and scratches, dents, and fingerprints very easily. if I were thinking about purchasing this laptop, i would spend a little more money and get a better kind like a hp or vaio.

I had this laptop before, (8months ago) I used for 2 weeks and I'm not happy of it, my husband said return it to the shop and I'm a kind of person that don't return or replace things that I bought if I don't like it, so I gave it to my brother, I am planning to buy Sony Vaio which my boss said it is excellent....Hmmm.

@buttdud1122 I had so many problems returning this piece of junk. He tried to help me and after 5 hours of trying I told the indian Ill just return it and he COULDNT UNDERSTAND ME. I had to get tranfered and then Dell kept saying they werent gonna take the laptop back even tho it was under that 15 dayreturn policy. I finally got it returned after an hour of telling them I want to take it back. You Call That Helpful?! I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH APPLES SERVICE AND IVE NEVER SPOKE TO AN INDIAN

@holydanny yes, you can, but you need to make sure you have the minimum video card and other requirements for the game.
i have a 2.00 GHz dual processor
3.00 RAM
and ATI Radeon 4330 video card.
sims 3 plays awesome on this.

@Lipsmoker Torrents are probably one of the safest way to download, much much much safer than using direct download sites like Mediafire where you have no idea what you're getting. With torrents you can read what other people say, ratings on the torrent, view the files in the download

People who don't fully understand torrents Are most likely to download some Viruses, Example Downloading Files that look like the real thing but forgetting to look at the file size (EG a 343kb Game/movie)
sometimes uploaders have a whole bunch of people to leave positive feedback to trick the downloader

I have one too. ive had it for about 2 months and i already had to take it in to get a new hard drive. it doesnt have very good memory and now I have to call again because when i got the new hard drive it was like getting a new computer but there was no windows 7 on it. BUT i dont regret buying it, it works fine that was my only problem.

Hi guys.. my DELL INSPIRON 1545 was working fine yesterday. I got back earlier today, turned it on, and the part where its supposed to ask for my password, a blank screen appears and i can only see my mouse cursor. any ideas what is wrong with it? its running Windows 7 home premium 64bit. any help/tips will be greatly appreciated! -Rain

@PINOYRADICAL1987 I had the EXACT same laptop and i had the same problem you need a new hard drive. but then its like getting a new laptop it erases all your memory and then you have to install windows 7 again.

this laptop is great but mine got overheated 3 months after i got it. then the LCD screen didnt work properly sometimes (now that its 11months old, it doesnt work anymore) and also, my laptop needs harddrive replacement. my sister has the same laptop too, we bought both laptops on the same day. but around feburary, her trackpak broke :/

BTW - im saying this most respectful way, try using the camera a better way, or some-one or a Holder holding the camera. It moves alot.

I have the option to get a 4-cell, 6-cell, or 9-cell battery, but I don't know which to get.
