That is amazing! I was there, both at the disbandment and the downed belvedere (spent the day fishing there) i was a Changi schoolboy in the ATC and flew many times with 66 Sq. my father was based at Seleter I believe i flew with your father on the Andover
I've never flown a chopper, but I can imagine that to keep that many whirlybirds in formation would have taken quite some stick juggling. RAF - best in show (as always)!
i flew with 66 squadron many times and had a lot of time on the stick - these choppers handle much like a fixed wing aircraft in flight due to the counter rotating wings and sculpted tailplane
Remind me of my childhood days which witnessed British Army helicopters; Scout,Sioux and Belvedere made brief stopover (a week or so) in
1970 at Kerayong (Pahang Malaysia)Airstrip. The airstrip has since been abandoned and made way to construction of a new police district headquater. The memory of those helicopters are still fresh in mind. Wonder the well being of those pilots and the servicemen involved. Where are they now? Any of you here?
My dad Ron Chidgey was a belvedere crewman in borneo in the mid 60's amazing to think he's probably in this footage :D

A fascinating and evocative film.
Thanks for this, must be very rare to have moving pics of the short lived Belvedere.
I like the ironic music, including from The Doors as used in a certain Hollywood Vietnam war movie.
Considering how successful the Indonesian confrontation was, from the UK point of view, the same time as Vietnam was escalating.
Not attacking the US here, many factors involved in the two conflicts.
Was the Belvedere a dog? With the 10 years between it going and Chinook ordered?
