I love breastfeeding in public. I am small chested woman, but I know that I am giving my baby the best food in the world. At first, I wasn't to sure how this breastfeeding thing would work out. However, it has been really easy. The only problem is now my son likes to eat and look around. He is easily distracted by the world around him. I don't how to get him to eat and stop looking around. i was given a titcket in my home town for breast feeding my oldest daughter at the park so when my 2end daughter was born i tried not to do alot and then when i did got out i was to scared and stressed out over feeding in public and with people shunning it caused my milk to try up on my 2end child at 4 months old she went to fourmla. sorry in some counties in the us its even illegal to breast feed. i did nto want another 500 dollar ticket and my youngest lost out at 4 month of the breast feeding

My kids got very little & it was only Carnation Good Start cuz all the other gave my oldest colic. I'm staying home with our next 1, so it will only get breast.

@meganjaylee I don't have a bra under the cami. That is a special nursing bra tank. Brands I like are glamour mom and bravado. Those nursing camis are pretty supportive for me but if you are well endowed (alas I am not) you might want to try one one before you buy as they are pricey ($45). I love em though - more comfy than regular wire frame bras. And If you want to nurse in public I strongly suggest some kind of nursing bra for easy access. Wouldn't be easy without one. good luck!

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that breastfeeding be continued for at least the first year and beyond if mutually desired by mother and child - for more reasons than I can sum up here. @dirtydiaperdiaries yeah my youngest daughter had a bad case of croup at 15 months old. Was that time of the year I suppose and one of the older children passed it on. When I spent the night in the hospital with her they did say to me that had I not continued breastfeeding they would have really struggled to keep her alive that night. I also got my breakfast free the next morning hehe did not have to pay a penny :D

Those nursing camis are pretty supportive for me but if you are well endowed (alas I am not) you might want to try one one before you buy as they are pricey ($45). I love em though - more comfy than regular wire frame bras. And If you want to nurse in public I strongly suggest some kind of nursing bra for easy access. Wouldn't be easy without one. good luck!

i will rephrase my comment not everymother can breast feed so i'm not against those who can't at all what i'm against is someone salting me if i decide too feed my child in public i will do so most breastfeeding facilities are linked to disabled toilets and i aint letting someone burst for the toilet to satisfy prudish ppl i'm sorry but i will continue to do so if i have another child and stand by all mother's however the decide too feed their children:)

@ariengirl i seriously feel for ur children if u have any or if u intend on having any cos u are only going to feed them formula which is full of chemicals and i know from experience how bad they can be for your childrens bowels my son still struggles to go to the toilet and he is four he is the only one out of my 3 boys who was fed formula my other two boys are 9 and 2 and have no prob with their bowel s whatsoever my point is breast is best wherever u are no need to be prudish abt it

@ariengirl i missed no point i get ur not against it but u are against it in public i'm sorry but instead of waiting for somewhere too heat baby's milk too the right temperature i would rather sit down not exhibit my breasts as u say cos it can be done descretly and feed my own child with already pre-temped milk from the breast no one has too look if they dont want i would not force my child too starve 20-30mins until i found somewhere to heat a bottle sorry its just not me

@alison27583 If you read the Bible, there is a poetic book where the sexual pleasure is very well descripted, it´s called The Song of songs, there are many lines about breasts, but of course you don´t know it. As well mothers use to pump milk into bottles they sure can make this when they know they will be later at some public place, for example, a restaurant and save all the watcchers from the view of their nipples and a baby sucking, wich indeed is beautiful but certainly has its own place.

As far as song of songs..... mmm never heard of that book in the bible might be in yours but defo not in mine. Song of solomon yes or psalms but not song of songs. and to add to this restaurants people should not have a problem with it.... in fact they should turn away if they are uncomfortable.

@alison27583 yes I did child psycology, I have a degree, that´s the difference between you and me. There is no need to show breasts in public! That´s for another thread, the justification of the exhibicionism. Breast milk is the best for the very early months, after that is very unnecesary. Read a book sometimes, use the internet for something else, search for information before make a statement, I don´t deny the benefits of breastfeeding or the mother´s milk, you missed the whole point.

@ariengirl All good advice - you ought to follow it. First, "very early months" is incorrect. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that breastfeeding be continued for at least the first year and beyond if mutually desired by mother and child - for more reasons than I can sum up here. Also this video shows how you can breastfeed without showing your breasts. Finally I'm sure someone with your impressive background can find the correct spelling of 'psycology' on the internet.

@dirtydiaperdiaries yeah my youngest daughter had a bad case of croup at 15 months old. Was that time of the year I suppose and one of the older children passed it on. When I spent the night in the hospital with her they did say to me that had I not continued breastfeeding they would have really struggled to keep her alive that night. I also got my breakfast free the next morning hehe did not have to pay a penny :D

Btw, I love my child and I love my breasts too, don´t want a baby hunging there for over a year. And believe me, nothing bad will happen if you don´t breastfeed so long, my brother was a baby bull and he needs more than milk breast since the day he was born. Now he is 6 feets tall and have two baby girls on his own with great health too.

This is video is to help woman who do not feel at ease breastfeeding out in public. You should not even waste your time trolling. @ariengirl Your 'very early months' statement is inaccurate. The AAP recommends breastfeeding for at least the first year, while the WHO recommends two years. Also, I seriously doubt that someone who can't spell psychology (or exhibitionism, for that matter) could actually have a degree in that subject.

@ariengirl OMG you are KIDDING ME RIGHT?! My daughter is 1 and is EXCLUSIVELY breastfed, and yes I breastfeed in PUBLIC, and no my breasts are not on display, you wouldn't even know I was nursing. But you are SO mistaken, human breastmilk provides 100% nutrition for human babies even beyond 1 year of age. My daughter is proof. She is a chunky, healthy, never been sick (but that's also because we don't poison her with vaccines.), yet all her early weaned peers have all been sick many times.

@MOTS411 Thank you for sharing this! That's awesome! Way to go. My friend only introduced food to her daughter after she was one and she's extra healthy too! I think most people are in a race to get their babies though babyhood as fast as possible.
(For skeptics) Yes, I'm sure there're are babies who need food to supplement beast-milk earlier than one but my point is FOLLOW YOUR BABY NEEDS, NOT THE CROWDS.

I love this video just as much as the first time I saw it. It's wonderful to know that as uncomfortable as some people might feel about a mother breastfeeding, we have the RIGHT to feed whenever and where ever we want to. I wish for the day when breastfeeding is just as accepted as bottle feeding in public.
