omg! i lived here when this happened had to get a friend with his ute to get us out of our house!!!! it was completely flooded, we had to make our escape thru mt pleasant! very scary
lets not forget the croc swiming around the i think its the soccore or footy field in andergrove... but smallfryzz its fuckheads like u that made it worse.... the wake from ur car coming into houses.
Our house in East Mackay was pretty flooded as well. Water rose in our laundry halfway to three quarters up our washing machine (up to our waist). Make matters worst is that under our low block house, previous tenants had left rubbish, old baby nappies, a dead cat or two and other various chemicals and fuel. It all went through our house eventually. Now; we're sick from it! :(
oh i remember this... i was at south mackay at the city gates... people were boogie boarding in the streets. i parked the car on an island. was soooooooooooo fun. i shoulda got out
The floods were pretty bad in Mackay. I mean I live in Calen, which is 50 minutes north of Mackay, and we absouloutly got battered with rain. The school was closed, but no where near flooding like that. Just tremendous!!
hey there i was at emerald floods are these the floods from emerald i was there with the SES it was a mess up there but i didn't have my video camera cheers
i know you said you where driving slow. but i have to strongly agree with the comments from others there was no need to drive around making waves going into ppls houses. you guys should of stopped and woke up to urselfs!
that is our house at 1:40 it onli got the the drive way but hel i fel bad for the other houses that got wreack...Good movie small frizz better then what the news showed...You must of done something like this before..Good work!
Mackay is my home town.. :( All I can say is WOW... I cant believe how bad it really was. The footage on the news shows nothing! Im showing this to my parents..
We live in Symons Street, East Mackay & it was over ankle deep in kitchen & half way between ankle & knee in lounge, 2 bedroom's & bathroom, we've lost everything, lived in this Unit for 6 yrs never seen water let alone flood that high in our street, saw flooding back when I was a teen in O'Keefe St where my parents still live & got washed away too, still waiting for help as we never got any at all, understand other's needed it but so did we
Thanks so much for posting this. As an ex-Mackay resident, I do appreciate the opportunity to view this and think, "It could have been me!". Although I used to live in Melaleuca Street, in Slade Point, and I'm sure my house would have been high and dry, athough I do wonder how my neighbours across the street (on the low side) might have fared.
Excellent footage SmallFryzz, better capture of the events than the news. Definitely somehing the kids will look back on in amazement in years to come. I live in Walkerston and we had 15 inches of water through our place, it's amazing how widespread the floods where.
im sitting here watching this with my 4 year old (we are locals - not currently living in mackay - although most of our family is!) and you wouldnt beleive what she just said to me!
mummy when we go to mackay i will need my floaties!! lol, out of the mouths of babes!
oh and im getting married in mackay in less than 2 weeks!! (at the windmill motel??? - fingers crossed its a tad bit dryer!)
I apreciated the video. The best one l have seen yet. The news shows nothing. For those that know mackay and dont live there Brilliant footage. Sorry for those that do.
smallfryzz, i read one sugar cane farmer found railway tracks in his field, any idea how bad the rail is up there? i work down in brissy at QR freight terminal
I'd be interested to see the same trip as the water's subside so show the comparison of depth - what a terrible time for everyone up there. Especially those whose homes were built in low areas. I've been flooded from storm water, but nothing like this!
we drove slow, others were much faster, plus by the time we were driving the water had already dropped a foot or so. Sorry you had water in your house, but we certainly didnt drive fast or inconsiderate. Plus in 15 - 20 years this footage can help show your family/children what happend in this record flood.
So you are one of the tools who drove around and help put another foot of water through my house.Wish you would have stayed at home like you were instructed instead of getting in your extension of your small penis(4WD) and doing this foolish video. Thanks alot you knob
Another idiot who drove around town ignoring the police warnings for people to STAY OFF THE ROADS! You know what you are and the word ends in "head"!!!

Benno719 3 years ago
2 metres of water is possible. A couple of suburbs were full of flooded water. Some people went on roofs.

Incredible. I'm hearing all sorts of statistics over here, like nearly a year's worth of rain has fallen in your area in the last three days!
Hope things improve soon, I really do.
