there are very few players that inspire with their skills and drible, here I can only suprise defenders with my runs back there, you know I dont miss many attacks so I run always up and down. but I hope I get a chance to try for a prof team

Alves is much better that Maicon at attack, I mean Maicon could never bee so good with barca and messi, maicon would be better with real madrid, Alves is much better in his attacking movements, but maicon runs with the ball and no one can take him, he is big, his style and movements are not complicated

@musicsaveme9 Agreed, I think Alves suits the possession-style of Barca much more. I don't think Maicon would be able to integrate into such an intricate passing game, but his speed and power are amazing and he's much more of a threat on the counterattack.

It's a shame that european clubs have been repeating what France did to us in 1998 (insert a side midfielder as somewhat of a 2nd side-back to block the runs of attacking full-backs like Cafu and Roberto Carlos), trying to neutralize the effect of this magnificent kind of player.

That's true, but the advantage is that stops the opposition from attacking down that side. So as well as being a great attacking threat, Alves' presence adds extra defensive security. I do sympathise as an Arsenal fan, it's frustrating having to watch your team try to play its way through 6/7 defenders around the box.

I don't consider Barça my team, but I know what you mean. It's even more frustrating when it happens to a Brasil side with DMs or CMs who can't pass like Gilberto Silva, Felipe Melo, César Sampaio, Dunga, etc.

@Mario12NorthernLion Well both players seem to speed up at 6:50. Messi's movement off the ball improved a lot this season.

The problem with Brazil's side (especially under Dunga) was that it was set up to counterattack. Brazil were at their best in the World Cup when they let the opposition into their own half and then counter quickly. When they went behind vs Holland, they didn't know what to do with the ball and ended up playing long balls, the most un-Brazilian football imaginable.

@EuropeanRenoog he got a little inconsistent in his crossing this past year, but still fantastic player, for as forward as he plays(i've seen him offsides), he rarely gets caught out, it was more often maxwell on the other side getting beat
