  • So good luck finding online a person who at first holds his best sides a secret and in real life will be much more attractive, intelligent, funny and witty. It's possible people. :)

  • This isn't 100% valid. The opposite sex won't always fill in positive characteristics to you for the gaps of mystery. Before my girlfriend and I were together, she assumed that I was a player and a womanizer, just because I was sociable and attractive (according to her). It wasn't until she found out my life and my values was it that she truly fell in love with me. I will commend respect to this video, it's a very interesting concept and holds a substantial amount of validity.

  • He's awesome and a genius, but this is in some ways contradictory to what he says about expectations, and more importantly, the role they play in human behavior. I'm curious to know his findings on negative expectations, and positive outcomes. In this video, a positive expectation concludes with a negative outcome. In other videos, he states that a positive expectation results in a positive outcome, almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  • @mserth22 Yes, but this example is definitely not a self-fulfilling prophecy. When it all happens completely within the confines of your own mind your subconscious has almost total control over what happens. Like he said in the video, if you fill in the gap thinking the other person likes the same music as you, no matter how optimistic or pessimistic you are about it, it won't change the outcome when you actually find out what music they truly like.

  • He is AWESOME!! His experiments are based on trivial matters but they reveal TONS of interesting stuff.

  • yep, it's "field tested" - girls are very optimistic about male profiles.

  • I read this book, it is EXCELLENT. I recommend it to anyone who has ever thought about a bad decision they have made and wondered how their mind works. That said, this video does a bad idea of explaining what the book is about...

  • If that is the case, then it is better to know as much about someone as possible at the beginning...therefore validating sites that have you fill out huge amount of info. I would think that this must vary, since some people are happy with online dating. Isn't it true with any kind of dating that you don't know much about a person at the beginning and then you learn more as you continue to date?

  • what a load of unsubstantiated bull

  • Sigh. Read the book.
