  • i have this radio.its an excellent cb.i have a super mod kit and peaked and tuned.hooked up to a texas star sweet 16.ive talked all over the u s on it when skip is rolling.

  • i talked on the phone with a galaxy technician...he told me to spread the coils in the back by the green resistors to get another 15w

  • @SHAD0Wc0n - I'm surprised a Galaxy tech would say that. The coils are there and are coiled for a reason. Spreading them isn't going to increase your output wattage 15 watts. Spreading the coils may make your meter display more output in some cases due to harmonics being created but you haven't actually increased the output wattage.

  • @cbradiomagazine yeah he said spread L29 but not L30....i thought that didnt sound right...glad i didnt do that

  • got one today very nice....

  • @branco445 Did you ever find a good radio?

  • Is the 979 the same board? Kevin kc7zoh@gmail.com

  • I got 4 of them and tricked them out the best radio's I ever had and I do my own work on them. And by the way the isn't a freq counter it is a freq display.

  • I just got one that was on the groung and almost got pulverized by an electro magnet crane in a scrap yard in NJ for $5.00, It works- Whoo Hoo!

  • Hi. I am undecided on purchasing a Galaxy DX 959 or the Texas Ranger 696F. I saw your audio test on another video and it seemed like the Galaxy had a little louder and more bassie audio. I want to know. Does the DX 959 have bad drift on sideband? I appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

  • I just got a 959 because of your videos I knew prior to purchase that it was exactly what I wanted. You ROCK! please keep the videos coming, they are very useful and informative. Can you do a video on actually peaking the 959? I know you showed where the pods are but I have never tuned one myself and would like to watch you do it before I give it a shot!!! Thanks a lot!

  • Galaxy DX-55HP

  • good radio its really a good radio for the price and also real easy to tune up a really loud radio on side band and am ive talked all over the usa and canada on it with no linear and i have a D-27 antenna dipole on a apartment balcony lol...so if you wanna kick ass radio get the 959 strokein... one hint no need to clip just turn the mod pod up thats all you will need to do trust me...........73ss from bulldogjr in kentucky

  • This would be a good candidate for a 10 metre conversion if it had CW mode.

  • douse this radio have the Eco bored in it to or is that after market

  • @27wickedclown27 after market

  • am is that a different frequency to uhf cb radio or some cause im getting my friend a radio a mobile one for his house im on a uhf if i get a am i wonder if i can still hear myself i wanna know before his birthday thuesday

  • I've got me one of these. It's a good radio for the price. It has a Roger beep, so you don't need to waste time and money to add one later. Plus, it sounds really good, and the swr meter always comes in handy to ID a simple antenna problem.

  • the galaxy 959 look like my cobar 2000gtl with the digit frequency counter buit-in but I put in roger beep in my 2000gtl

  • I'll never buy anything from Sparky's, I mentioned an issue with a brand new dual final modified Galaxy DX959 and he cursed at me. What an a-hole!

  • 10 meter mod video?

  • dont the newest galaxies have the duel mosfet finals now?

  • @AK47cowboy the dual final is an add on that either you or the tech can do. all 959 come with a single mosfet final.

  • am is the standard cb band in the u.s.a

  • @bmxingtravis AM is not a band. It is a modulation mode.

  • what dose the AM Mode on CB Radio's do?

  • The DX 95T is by far a higher output radio.

  • what's the difference in the dx 959 and the dx 95? and can the dx 98 be used as cb also?

  • its a great radio the galaxy 959, i got one in my car an have a galaxy2547.

  • i will stick with my Galaxy Pluto. i dont like these slide switches.

  • nice rad i have the pluto

  • Comment removed

  • im getting a huge linear on mine

  • how big and r u going to use a stock alternator?

  • I got a dx949 which is 959 without a frequency counter. I can't wait until I get it tuned

  • Thanks for another interesting video. I'm going to have to pick up one of these radios, now!

  • BEWARE dude!

I just received that model from sparkyscbshack and the frequency counter is almost dead (digit #1 and #4 arent displaying) the talkback feature cannot be used because a feedback noise even with the microphone several feet away from the speaker. It's very frustrating and disappointing getting a brand new radio with those defects.

  • LED's can go dead, but that can happen on any radio and I've had other brands that had a LED go dead on a brand new radio. If the radio is brand new Galaxy will replace them under warranty.

As for the talkback feedback...that's not a defect. Someone did a tune on that radio and peaked the AMC (modulation) to make the radio louder. If you do that on a Galaxy DX 959 the talkback will have feedback unless you turn the mike gain down. I'd talk to the CB shop about it.

  • I've emailed the guy (sparkyscbshack) who sold me the radio for a RMA code, Still waiting an answer from him. Don't get me wrong. I do not hate the galaxy radios, in fact I love them but is frustrating to receive a brand new radio in that condition. (dead led's out of the box since day 1)

  • Very nice video..........DAVE UK

  • Very good video.
