  • what lighting?

  • Sub me to see more aquarium videos.

  • What's a point? Ur taking away the beauty of a freshwater tank. Your also taking away the beauty of a reef

  • those corals are real or fake?

  • Nice setup! I just bought a 40 gallon tank. I cannot wait to get it fully up and running... have waited so long to get a tank this size :)

  • Very nice!!!

  • im trying to do the same thing but better i will be posting it soon.

  • Oh and also whats the yellow and black fish at 1:31? Thanks!

  • Hey can I ask where you got your corals from? They look good!

  • Very, very nice..... Great job...

  • i like your inserts. Very colorful.

  • This is not a habitiat for malawi cichlids! Not good. You should be ashamed!

  • Nice!

  • 2:23 camera shy! awww

  • beautiful aquarium

  • Wow that is nice

  • dude, your tank is thwe shit

  • why does saltwater fish die from freshwater?

  • Where did you get that clam that opens and closes that looks like an air pump?

  • thats a shit setup

  • How do you keep your sand clean??

  • could u upload another video please

  • that rule is stupid,, i mean imagine a 60 inch (5 foot) fish in a 60 gallon aquarium which isn't even 4 ft long :p

  • that must be a bitch to clean

  • How about starting an actual saltwater tank they are amazing and easy to care for

  • Awesome aquarium man.

  • has a fish ever gotten stuck in your bubble clam when it shuts

  • How did you get your water so crystal clear?

  • how much are those aquariums?

  • Lol... is that goldfish... or just all tropical fish

  • do you have your brown knife still

  • @gpreston1000 Yep! He is in another tank and is now 6 years old! He's probably older than that, since he was an adult when we got him. I've read somewhere that they only live for 7 years, so its getting close to his time =(. But so far, he still seems lively as the day we got him. Great fish if you never owned one. They are intelligent and have a lot of personality once they get use to you.

  • nice tank check mine out

  • That Tank is fooking off the hook! Very nice set up, looks AMAZING!

  • awesome tank dont your cichlids fight?

  • @75daud Not really. They have already established a pecking order and each of them have claimed there own territory within the aquarium. Every now and then, one will get a little grumpy, but they have never seriously hurt each other. Just make sure they all have their own space and things will be fine. Or you could over stock your tank with cichlids to lower aggression, but that will be maintenance on your part.

  • ha that clam is sick

  • Is your pH high since you're using crushed coral? My pH was real low and I put a little crushed coral in a big and put it in my filter and now it's neutral. I would think that putting coral as substrate would cause the pH would be out the roof..

  • @cmartinjr2 Yea, the water is pretty hard, but the fish don't seam to mind.

  • @player445363 dont seem to mind?? they look like they moved into an apartment complex

  • @cmartinjr2 And that is why people use it as substrate. African Cichlids need a high ph to thrive. At least 7.8

  • Wow your tank is LOUD!!! Mine is a 35 Gallon and its almost impossible to hear!

  • @ObviouslyAwsome Its the air pump. Its vibrating against the filters on the tank above this one, so its sounds loud. Its actual pretty quite once a place the air pump somewhere else. Just sounds like running water, which I find very peaceful =)

  • are those air bubbles on the darker coral pieces or silver paint

  • @zacharyhosbein Its sand.

  • hey i think your tank is the best one ive seen. i was wondering if you could give any more information on where or how i could acquire some of these coral. also what kind of light are you using. very impressive. also what grade sand is that.

  • @zacharyhosbein Thank you =). Its been over a year since I recorded this and the tank is still running strong! The cichlids grew to. All I can tell you about the corals is that I got them off of ebay. The company who makes them is AZOO. perhaps you can google them. I'm using normal florescent lighting that came with the hood, and the sand is crushed coral sand from petsmart.

  • can u show me a video on how to set uo the filter??

  • how do you siphon the sand ?

  • @MSG685 just get as close as possible without the siphon sucking up the sand. You kind of have to have a feel for it. It'll be easy once you do it a few times

  • @player445363 thanks for the reply, your tank looks awesome.

  • How much sand came in one bag? And how much was it?

  • @FLYBOY7777777 Don't remember to be honest.....its been a long

time since I've been to petsmart. I think it was around $20 for a decent sized bag. I could be wrong though.........

  • Wow BEST tank I seen, looks so nice. One question, what kind of filter are you using?

  • where did u bought all those stuff from... and also are those stuff live? like the rocks and u know... :) btw awesome tank! love ur fishes too :P

  • @futerflash2 Thank you. The corals are fake and all of the cluster corals are from Japan, and I got them off of ebay for about $25 a cluster. The company is called AZOO, and they have a variety of fake cluster corals. Not to sure if you can find any in the united states. None of the big pet retailers carry them (Petsmart, Petco, etc.) You might be lucky to find one at a local pet shop, but I highly doubt you'll find one. The Big coral and the yellow one to the right is from petsmart.

  • @futerflash2 thats okay :) thanks for the reply!

  • @futerflash2 I'm new to the aquarium hobby, why do you have 3 different powerfilters with your freshwater tank? I'm using the Marineland Emperor 400 Wheel Powerfilter. Should I be using more filters?

  • @virginiagirl32 I used more than one filter because my fish tank is overstocked, so the ammonia levels can grow quickly if there are not enough beneficial bacteria. I'm sure it would of been fine if I just had one, but you can never have too many filters. Besides, having too many is better than having less, right? The third filter was for holding the mangrove trees. The tree's absorb the nitrates, which is the end product of nitrite and ammonia. The tank is almost maintenance free =)......almost

  • does your red tail shark eat other fish???

  • @xbox360ishcool no, but he is very territorial. He loves the yellow coral in the front of the tank and makes his usual rounds around it to make sure no one is near it.

  • I wanted to put sand into mines too, but i wasn't quite sure how to put that in....when you put it in does it stay on the bottom? does it grow algae??

  • @Mxiong87 Its easy, just make sure you thoroughly wash the sand before you put it in your take, and turn off the filter until all of the sand has settled to the bottom. Before the video, I had white gravel. Glad I made the change as it looks soo much better. Anything in the tank is subject to algae, so long as there is an ample amount of nutrients in the water.

  • BEAUTIFUL AND PEACEFUL...what about the sand....do you find it is hard to clean or what about that?? thanks!

  • @1funguy Thanks. The sand is not hard to clean at all. Just make sure the siphon is not too close to the sand, or you'll suck it right up.

  • thnx for the details in the descriptions most people dont even answer are question

  • i set mine up like yours,

freshwater but saltwater style!!! i just cant find any good fish to fit the style

  • totaly not your fish there habitat but its a nice looking tank

  • Hey man i gotta about a 300 gallon fish tank i wanna put fake coral in bec it will cost me about 8 grand 2 get the real thing and i dont wanna mantaine it to much do u know were to get alot of coral

  • Bro could you advice me a bit, I have been thinking to set up a fish tank at my residence as well. But i need it to be in saltwater yet it will be freshwater fish tank in reality. So, is this artificial corals are expensive...? Do they sellcrushed sea sands for fish tank.....?could you advice me please....?

  • Didn't know you can put sand in freshwater.....I've been wanting to do something like this with my tank. How hard is it to take care of? Just as easy? (sorry if you've already answered this question)

  • Very nice done!

  • how much did this whole set up cost you? It looks great!

  • How much did this whole set up cost you? It looks great!

  • very nice i like your red finned shark i have one but its a baby :D

  • I prefer freshwater aquariums, but that's a very cool saltwater aquarium

  • @Galybedroom Thanks! by the way, this is a freshwater aquarium. I just made it look like a saltwater aquarium =)

  • Great set up. love what you've done with the marine theme.... Are those African Ciclids?

  • @boss5468 Yep. They've all gotten bigger since the last video.

  • @player445363 Great stuff. That is such a cool idea....

  • awesome tank. might do something like seeing as my goldfish devour every plant i put in the tank.

  • Looks nice. Theres a pet store near me that has a tank with the same idea. So funny to hear unknowledgable folks thinking that its a Saltwater tank, when what it really is - are a bunch of phoney corals and multi-species cichlids. haha..

  • very nice

    5 *****

  • Nice tank. Are those mangroves, at 2:09?

  • @SeanoHermano Yep! =) and they've gotten a lot bigger since I took the video. There all about 2 feet tall now! lol. But its kool. As long as I keep them trimmed, they shouldn't get any bigger. And I don't have to worry about nitrates as much anymore!

  • @player445363 lol That's so cool. I was thinking at one time about using mangroves in my sump for my saltwater tank. Not sure anymore. Maybe.

  • @SeanoHermano Yes, it is kool, lol. Well, they do stay pretty small if you trim them. There like Bonsai trees! I just got a little lazy due to school and work. Thats why they got so much taller. Also, once they have a well structured root system, you can pretty much toss you protein skimmer away! lol. There that efficient!

  • imma give you some sound advice... from a guy who actually has thoes 2 exzact cichlids... thoes orange fuckers get big.... fast.... and massively aggresive..... OH and they dig holes in the gravel and destroy the shit out of your plant life... id go with an all natrual look...... oh and ps... get some ditter fish IE barbs/giant danios. it makes it so not only one fish gets picked on... AND pss.. get some ghost shrimp when they get bigger... they fucking LOOOOVE thoes crunchy fuckers.

  • @Owned2424 Thanks for the advise. Yes, they both have gotten a lot bigger. There about 3 1/2 inches now (Not including the tail). As far as aggression goes, it seems to be controlled for the time being. There both not the biggest fish in the tank, so I guess that why they leave the others alone. As for the giant danios, I want to, but my tank is too small. I'll get them when I get a bigger tank.

  • nice tank how much for everything

  • @miniaturepinscher1 Well, I don't really know for sure, because I pretty much bought one thing at a time over the years and I never kept track of the prices. But if I had to guess, I would say roughly $300?

  • nicce tank dude

  • Your decorations are well placed, very nice looking tank

  • Some advice I learned, I noticed your background has bubbles... If you put some vegetable oil, which everybody usually has, wipe down the back of your tank w/ it and put the background on and smooth out bubbles w/ a card it makes it look much more vivid.

  • Wow, thanks for the advice! Will definitely try this out!

  • I really like you freshwater tank i only got a 40 litre but mine alrite im going to get some fake coral like this one

  • That fish tank is amazing, i (think) have a 70g and it looks no where near as cool has yours

  • Thanks! I wanted to start this marine themed tank with a 55g, but I didn't have room. Took me a while to decide how I was going to put this together, but it was well worth the time! Its one of my favorite aquariums!

  • what kind of sand it that and how much did it cost?

  • Im using some type of crushed coral sand that you can buy at petsmart, but to reduce cost, I would recommend getting the sand substrate at the hardware store. All together, I would say it costed me about $260-$300. But that was over time. I spent little by little.

  • is that a 55

  • No, this is a 20G long. Its ok for now, but I'm pretty sure their gonna hate it in there when they are full grown. I can't wait to get my 100g! I know a guy who's going to sell it to me for $200!!!! Its used, but hey, its a 100g!!! lol

  • use crushed marble looks alot finer check my tank if you get time but that looks awsome mate the bright colour fish match iv seen some full of goldfish and it looks retarded haha

  • Thanks. I'm still messing around with it. I'm thinking of trading in my jewel for a more colorful cichlid, or maybe just a really red jewel, IDK. But yea. and I'm thinking of trading in my acei, for a bluer fish, like the socolofi. What do you think?

Crushed marble? Never heard of using a crushed marble substrate. I'll have to look into that, but thanks for the suggestion.

  • the more brighter fish make it look better with the coral look mate just dont get plan fish as they wont match awsome tank by the way

  • Hi thats a great aquarium. What type of sand do you use? and what species are the yellow fish?

  • Thanks! Everything is explained in the info, but the yellow fish are called Yellow Labs, and I used a crushed coral sand substrate. This type of sand does raise the PH, but they seem to thrive better in harder waters than acidic waters.
