If you don't want it to freeze don't talk to Mimi, get the key and open the door on the ground floor, last room (The door with the lock on it) go in and hit the star block and then you can go on the next chapter. The exact thing happened to me

Actually the safest and easiest way to do this, is to hold down the power button for 4 seconds or so and it will shut off. Nintendo said you should do this when ever this happens. You can also do this trick with a computer or a Xbox 360.

OMG! My game froze in the exact same spot as you today! It did it 3 times in that spot. Something's wrong with the game at that point. I'm never playing Super Paper Mario again now. Back in November, my wii kept freezing in the exact same way, and I had to delete all my data to get back to normal :(

It does look like a compoter moniter. They might have what I have, which is this little converter cord that can hook up to your computer moniter, and to the Wii and work like componet cables. So the computer can replace the TV needed for gaming play. Look around for it, I've seen videos of people just playing games on their laptops.
I'm not exactly computer savvy, and I may be wrong about this. But, I believe since the laptop is just hosting the image of the game, all the hard work is still being done on the actual video game system.
This happened to me. Either get Nintendo to replace the disk with another free or in the short term set the console language to French, Portuguese or Dutch, play the game and it wont crash. Reach a save block, exit and set the console language back to your native. There is an item that if you pick it up and then talk to the maid (actually Mimi). I set the language to French and so on. Only PAL versions are affected by the glitch.

This happened to me. Either get Nintendo to replace the disk with another free or in the short term set the console language to French, Portuguese or Dutch, play the game and it wont crash. Reach a save block, exit and set the console language back to your native. There is an item that if you pick it up and then talk to the maid (actually Mimi). I set the language to French and so on. Only PAL versions are affected by the glitch.
