  • Love it when DLT says I hate this guy.

  • This was the BEST ever Gotcha. DLT got so fucked off about it hence it being delayed from being shown, eventually the hairy cunt came around. Worth waiting for. I loved NHP as a kid in the 90s on winter nights and would have loved to have been in the audience when it was shown live. Sat evening TV is SHIT NOW with x fucking factor and strictly or crap like that as is radio. We had NHP, YOU BET, PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT, PRICE IS RIGHT, GENERATION GAME back then...bliss.

  • SHOWING OFF RUBI WAX ALL COMPUTERS 1:1 1:2 LENNIE JAMES

  • DLT what a great sport.

  • Could this be the best practical joke of all time...?

  • this was great entertainment for a Saturday not like the crap we have to watch now

Radio 1 on saturdays is crap too

  • Great days, really great days.

  • DLT is a radio legend and this gotcha was so funny. Noels House Party - when Saturday night TV really was light family entertainment.

  • The best of all of noels gotchas

  • Surely that did not go out Live on radio 1

  • @mkbuddy it went out live it normanlly 15 mins but this went on for 35 mins

  • @mkbuddy It did, but if I remember correctly the ending had to be edited because DLT's reaction had a load of swear words which couldn't be broadcast....Shame the audio for this can't be found anywhere, would have been nice to have heard what it sounded like on the radio at the time

  • RADIO 1 WAS THE STATION TO TUNE IN2.NOW ITS NOT WORTH 10 MINS OF YOUR TIME.LOVED NOELS HOUSE PARTY ASWELL,GOOD TO WATCH BE4 A NIGHT ON THE TILES

  • Yay - Levellers on Radio One!

  • love this show back in the the day when Radio 1 was Great ! not like it is now Crap

  • I was expecting a couple of "Quack,Quack oops" In this.

  • this is when radio 1 was good not like the bag of cxxp it is today !!!!

  • @maxpower355 Have to agree with you on that one, in the 70's,80's and even the early 90's Radio 1 was a good station to listen to, unfortunately with the changes made to it over the last 15 years or so, it is now so bad that I can't listen to it for more than 5 minutes before having to turn over, it's sad to see this once great station go downhill in this way.

  • its BLT the hairy sandwich

  • @TheDiddlysquat That was during his "Late Breakfast Show" period wasn't it?

  • BIG HAIRY CORNFLAKE !

  • That's hilarious, when tv and radio were actually decent

  • How the fuk do 5 people dislike this .. its the funniest thing on tv in the 90's or since its a knockout..

  • Rather listen to these old school djs any day to the odious humorless fucking cunts on the radio nowadays dlt simon bates bruno brookes kid jenson john peel liz kershaw

Radio like music has gone right down the fucking toilet in this country

fucking chris moyles jo fucking wiley scott mills and all those mental cunts on radio one nowadays should be fucking SHOT

FUCKING GLAD I GREW UP IN THIS GOLDEN AGE 70S AND 80S

ITS ALL GONE TO FUCKING HELL SHITHOLE

  • @Monfort675 100% agree with you.

  • @Monfort675 Totaly agree there like. Especially Jo Wiley.....Just listening to her one dimensional dribble is enough to send me to sleep. Plus her taste in music is dubious to say the least

  • @Monfort675

In a world where new music is created on an hourly/daily basis why anyone would turn on a radio to be told what to listen to is beyond me....

There's so much music out there-if folk are only prepared to look for it!! It's not music that's gone downhill, it's people's attitudes to music that's the problem...

Simon Bates was just as bad and odious as Moyles-same as Edmonds, same as Lowe...DJ's are paid to play other people's records-that's not a talent and they need to realise that!

  • @Monfort675 Yeah the good old days were great weren't they, rationing, rickets, TB, air raids. Wish it was still the old days. Berk.

  • I remember hearing this on the radio when it happened, it was chaos and hilarious!

  • @TheDiddlysquat

yeh..ironic that Noel now fronts a show where contestants open boxes...

  • Does anyone know the music he plays at 8:40 ?

  • haha that was so funny thanx for posting

  • i wolud love this show to come back and david tennant getting a gotcha

  • bring back dlt and simon bates loved our tune. oh and the 80s music

  • to all those people who say "bring back DLT", he's currently on Magic AM from 10AM-1PM on Saturdays and Sundays!

  • i bet this sounded well funny for radio listeners lol!

  • @adzbuh

I listened to this at the time - I remember telling the rest of my family that they needed to listen to the madness.

  • an absolute classic!!!

  • bring back the hairy sugar puff, radio 1 has gone titty-mangled

  • Brilliant, I remember this on a cold saturday morning out in my shed, bring back DLT and kick Chris Evans to touch ?

  • Good old days of Radio One. :)

  • I laughed when I watched on the House party and Noel laughing in the background certainly made DLT horrified.

  • I remember listning to this live on the radio. Thanks for this.

  • DLT does get his back i remember on the last ever show.

  • The "hearse" response is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Brilliant!

  • Classic radio.

  • nice one son loved it

  • Thanks for sharing this :)

  • Noels a King of tv presenters,Rock on Noel,Deal or no Deal...

  • Yes this was great TV, Noel we need some more of this on main stream, make some more please !!!!

  • If John Peel was to be believed a lot of the DJ's from the pre-Bannister era at R1 couldn't stand each other. There's some horror stories about 'get-together's' they used to have at each others houses, involving who could out do each other with increasingly awful practical jokes. DLT and Edmond's name were often mentioned if I recollect.

  • LOL LOL LOL that is a Gotcha Classic

  • That fiddle music is so fitting - the wheels of DLT's head spinning out of control!

  • the fiddle music is "The Levellers"....an amazing band folk/rock band.....find them on youtube and enjoy!! going to see them in Shepherds Bush next month!!

  • Cool. Thank you very much.

  • @benwil What's the name of the song? I'm looking for it all over YouTube...

  • @christopherfrost it's called "the game" by The Levellers off their album "Levelling the land"

  • Brilliant

  • what form of transport has a deas mans handle?

    A Hearse lolz classic answer

  • classic

  • brilliant stuff

  • do do do do dooooo

  • dave lee travis the king of radio, radio one is a piece of shit these days

  • @thestevo46 i toataly agree with you radio one is for snoty nose teenagers who havnet reached puberty yet ha ha ha

  • "Say allo to Sharon, Dave, say allo to Sharon!"

    LOL.

  • Radio 1 is so dumbed down nowadays it's unbelievable. No wonder this country is in the state it's in.

  • @MrDemolitionMan yes its in a mess because radio one is pish, get a grip you fuck wit

  • @MrDemolitionMan Wait the current state of the country is determined by radio 1?

  • @666or999 I agree. The state of Radio 1 is determined by the country. People get what they desire i.e Simon Cowell and Chris Moyles. That's why I can't be bothered with TV or radio. We have youtube now so who needs them ?

  • @MrDemolitionMan haha i know eh! radio 1 needs to buck up its ideas or were going the way of the ottoman empire

  • @MrDemolitionMan Indeed so

  • Probably the BEST 'Gotcha' ever

  • i think the best gotcha was with Garth Crooks the ex soccer player! it was awesome!

  • Brilliant, but does anybody have Alan 'fluff' Freemans 'gotcha'?It's a gem!

  • And he got Noel in the gunge tank lol

  • Classic,we were talking about this at work 2day,was hopeing some body had posted it.Cheers!!

  • The guy in the hat is Geoff McGiven, the original Ford Prefect from Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy on BBC Radio.

  • SUPERB. I have the original show on VHS. Also the saturday's after one too ( DLT gets his own back). Have transferred to DVD but quality not great.

    Still makes me laugh.

  • there is an uncut version of this somewhere, dlt toally loses it at the end.....f'in this f'in that.all cut out

  • darts on the radio lol i remember it well the old sunday lunchtime hairy cornflake radio spot on radio 1 right before fluff freeman with pick of the pops "all right, not alf"

  • This is one if not the greatest Noel Gotacha EVER!!

    Well put together!!

    This is Classic Noel!

  • Chris Moyles is a drug addict. He is a disgustingly obese man.

  • Wow - DLT playing the Levellers at 8.45! Cool!

Oh yes - and a classic Gotcha! Give Edmonds his due - he's churned out some classic telly!

  • 15 Years! Great song - great band, still going strong!

  • bring back dlt and all those other old djs any day over the fucking excrement at radio 1 nowadays

  • Not even the youth listen to Radio 1. Boy did Bannister bet on the wrong horse!

  • why did the get rid of that whole generation of djs,it was insanity, they had personality humour and intelligence, its a fucking disgrace we are paying moyles evanns and all those mugs 800 grand a year to spew shit, radio 1?i shit em

  • Too right!!! Not arf'!!!

  • what a classic gotcha !!!!!!! Dave Lee Travis and Noel Edmonds were brillant !!!

  • Alan 'Fluff' Freeman's 'gotcha' was also brilliant.I can't find it here.

  • Before the show started DLT caame on and said Noel thinks he's just going to do a normal show but there will be tonnes of surprises along the way. DLT colluded with the production team and took over the whole show. Noel didn't have a clue what was happening and it was brilliant.

  • Do 9 million people listen to Radio 1 now? Doubt it somehow.

  • hey, more than 9 million people would have probably been watchin SCOTTCAM when Moyles was waking him up nearly every morning!!!! lol

  • What's the music played at 11.04?

  • The song is 'Fifteen Years' by The Levellers.

It can be found on their 1991 debut album 'Levelling The Land'.

  • Many thanks for the info.

  • I checked - It's from that ALbum but the song is called The Game. At least I found it.

  • This is one if not the greatest Noel Gotacha EVER!!

    Well put together!!

    This is Classic Noel!

  • This was a great gotcha and ranks as my all time favourite along with Richard Whiteley's. But DLT's revenge the following week in the last show of the series was even better. Saturday nights haven't been the same since House Party ended. When this show was on form it was peerless.

  • Super, super. I used to watch Noel Edmunds and used to listen to DLT. I have kept this gotcha on VHS. So nice to watch on UT.

    Thank you.

  • DLT didn't half get his own back at the end of that series when he gate-ctashed one of those camera behind your tv wind ups! Talk about the ultimate revenge!!!

  • Brilliant T.V & Radio.

I've met Noel & found him to be just the business!!!

Very approachable & a true professional!!!

  • I heard this live on Saturday morning at work in Brum.

We thought they were so thick.

Without a doubt the best ever gotcha Noel ever did.

  • Could u imagine anyone like DLT or this quiz and format on Radio 1 now....times have moved on so much......but this was only the 90's.......most of their DJ's then were middle aged.........

  • ahhh nice to see and hear radio 1 before it disapeared up its own arse and turned into a self loving chris moyles shrine

  • You mean it's nice to see radio 1 when it's average listener was in their 40s and some of the presenters were drawing their pensions.

  • maybe ,but back then it had more than one star dj and wasnt has self back slapping as it is now .

  • you'll be in your 40's one day.

  • Yep, and I probably won't listen to a young persons radio station

  • why is it a young persons radio station?

chris moyles must be about 40 and if he isnt he sure doesnt look like a young person with all that weight and those moles.

  • Because it's targeted at 14-25 year olds!

Moyles is early 30's. John Peel was a pensioner but the diffrence is he appealed to young people and played new music. DLT was stuck in a 1970's rock and easy listening rut.

Smashy and Nicey did the world of broadcasting a huge favour!

  • has anyone got the gotcha with meatloaf would love to see it again thanks for this one i remember listening to it live was sooooooooo funny

  • a true classic one of the best gotas. It was just has funny hearing live when it went out on radio 1

  • To trashcanlive, kenfig and justbeingnasty - you sad, angry, pathetic people. Why can't you view this as a bloody funny 80s gag without resorting to insults. It was great finding this on here. It looks like 18,000 plus people watched it and agree with me, and a few jerks have to have their pathetic 5 seconds of online fame. Morons.

  • DLT is a God. This is soooo funny. I heard it when it went out and am so pleased to have found it on youtube. Kudos to you for uploading.

  • Apparently DLT has never forgiven Noel in real life what a spoil sport

  • Hi 'justbeingnasty', agree with you entirely ; also see my comment on 'Squeeze - up the junction - top of the pops 1979' featuring 2 wankers D.L.T. & Mike Read !

  • KWACK KWACK OOPS!!!

  • D.L.T. deserved this for taking himself so seriously- pompous aggogant arse - he HATED being brought down a peg or two & couldnt take the joke well

  • By far THE funniest moment on Radio 1!!!

  • who is DLT?

  • Dave Lee Travis.

  • I remember listening to the programme on that Saturday morning and thinking what a bunch of thiko's and of course the inevitable line THIS MAN DIES ON THE AIIIR!!!!! i really thought something had seriously happened live on air until the whole thing came out after DLT had played a record and sort off calmed down Classic Classic humour .

  • snap, i heard it live too, and when he buggered off, radio one was so much part of daily life,, everything stopped at at half ten for our tune,,lol Simon Bates,

  • "I wish you give me that phone! I'm fed up with that!" Noel's funny in this!

  • LOL! "YOU are a dead man!"

This is the one Gotcha moment I've always wanted to see. Cheers for putting it up!

  • Noel Edmonds is a British TV Legend. There's a petition to bring back Noel's House party back if anyone is interested. If you go to petitions online dot com it's on there

  • Class.

  • This is the funnest thing ive ever seen from Noel!!

    This is a classic clip!

    Noel r u smarter than a 10 year old!!

  • The so called fall out between these two was also just for show/publicity.

They are good friends still and have appeared many times in public together since this gotcha.

  • Actually DLT has spoke to him many times in episodes since this one and on the final episode of this series (1) He got revenge on Noel by getting Noel Voted into the Gunge tank.

  • Apparently, Dave Lee Travis hasn't spoken to Noel since this gotcha, 20 YEARS AGO!!! LMFAO

  • lol Dead Mans Handle, a hearse!!!

    Steamroller Dave!

Poor Man, one of the best Gotcha's

  • Would love to have heard what that sounded like on the radio on the day

  • I found the baton one, Dave had some moments before resigning on air

  • LOL, I have all these Gotcha's on DVD but not a very good video transfer, so good to see such a good clip :o)

    Agree, best gotcha ever!

The first 5 series' of this show were brilliant

  • I've been waiting for this to appear on YouTube too. Fantastic. Thanks for posting.

  • I love it! (laughs)

  • this is brilliant 1 of the best gotchas ive seen, bring back noels house party instead of the crap we have 2 watch on a sat nite

  • On what form of transport would you find a dead man's handle? A Hearse! So Funny!

  • This is the best Gotcha ever I wish they would bring back house party instead of these stupid lottery shows

  • the video from 3:45 had me in tears laughing! that feedback! is superb!

  • Has anyone got the QPR gotcha?

  • Mate, the QPR one is now on youtube!

put in QPR Gotcha and its on their!!

  • Thanks for posting this, made me laugh all these years later as much as it did the first time it was aired. It's going in my faves

  • He actually says "This man Dies ON THE AIR!!! Absolute quality though this was the best ever Gotcha, and not a pink spotty rubber twat in sight

  • I have been looking for this Gotch for years, thankyou

  • Good this You Tube isn't it? I'd been looking for decades for The Beatles roof top concert. Sure enough it's on here. That's why I made the effort to post a clip for someone else.

  • Anybody got the Dale Winton Gotcha? That is worth seeing.

  • This is the funnest thing ive ever seen from Noel!!

    This is a classic clip!

  • Yeah the Richard Whiteley one was legendary! Is it on here?

  • dude, richard's in now on youtube!

  • "If this is for real, this man... DIIIIIIIIIIIIES! Oh YEAAAAAAAAAAH!"

    Legendary. :-D

  • This was the Funniest Gotcha of all time Radio 1 is never the same again without Dave Lee Travis since Radio 1 was a Youth Station in 2001 the music has gone down hill i think Radio 1 Should be come an Over 25s Station i miss Egton House where they used to Broadcast the Saturday Morning DLT Show

  • "I think I'll take a musical break to rethink my entire career." The other Gotcha that always comes to mind is the one they did on the late, great Jill Dando.

  • Great fun! I've not seen this for almost 15 years, but it still made me laugh out loud a few times.

It's always the Gotcha I remember.

  • Best Gotcha ever....

  • Absolutely brilliant! One of the best Gotcha's that Noel ever did.

  • i thinks the best one was on richard whiteley on countdown,

  • you are absolutely right. if there is any way that could get online ... BBC should put all the gotchas online!

  • this is the funniest sketch I have ever seen

what a loss to Radio 1 DLT was
