@snipperbes with classic i mean in the style of 2.49, the colorscheme is similar to the one used in default 2.49. also the text and icons are smaller, and the keybindings are changed so that the spacebar-add menu is back. there is a screenshotlink in the description now.
Great video, and very useful files. I've just upgraded my OS, and it came with Blender 2.56.1, I'm used to 2.49, and it's like learning it all over again, in some ways. I think you've already helped me with that. Thanks for sharing.
@kiml42 Thats very nice to hear, thanks. The transition to 2.5 can be hard, 2.5 has many new and useful features but also many faults. One thing that may sound strange but has helped me a lot was a new theme, i created a classic theme for 2.5 that adjusts the colors so it looks like 2.49. the link to download the theme is in the description. simply open the file in blender and try it out, if you like it click file-> save user settings.
@GublyGubly The two things I've noticed, are not understanding the middle click on my mouse, and, more annoyingly, the time offset not working for dupligroups.
@MrVecheater i used sounds from freesound(dot)org which i then edited in an old trial version if goldwave but any sound editing software will do, audacity for example is a free one. The cracking and rumbling before the explosion is made from two modified sound effects, distant thunder and cracking ice.
The main explosion sound is a heavily modified and inverted lasershot sound. I mostly used pitch, reverb, and mechanize effects aswell as the equalizer and time adjustments.
@onjoFilms don't get me started on that, modeling that little sucker took ages, kept me busy for half a year and now still looks like crap, i simply don't have a hand for faces
@MaximSachs Thanks! The effect was created with the halo of a spotlamp and compositing. I have uploaded the .blend file with a small guide. The link is in the description.
@yinara100 Thanks, i'm glad you like it. you can make your own with the .blend file i uploaded, There is a small guide included, but the setup is really simple.
You said the water effect was easy.
Is there a tutorial for that?

how did you get the stars to be white? I've tried, but the compositing nodes keep colouring them orange.

@GublyGubly Faces are very difficult as the Masters will attest to.
