@hanner014 The chords are pretty typical blues chords, though she embellishes them with varied voicings. F-F7/A-Bb for the 'you're no good' parts, C7-F-C7 for the chorus and Bb7-F7-C7-Bb-Ab for the bridge.

I never really considered Whitney Houston all that soulful only because her voice is so perfect. And though I think she's raised the bar in pitch-perfect singing that everybody on American Idol seems to be trying for, I think they're striving for the wrong thing. Soul, rock and blues have never really been about perfection in pitch and tone. It's more the grittiness, and it's the imperfections that make it the incredible music that it is. This lady is more like Aretha than Whitney I think.

wow this woman has an amazing voice! Very powerful. Great version of one of my favorite songs of all time. I think my favorite performance is by The Commitments.... but this gives them a great run for their money. Really well done :)
