  • Additionally, Ottawa is also blessed with one of the etter play by play men in the pro sporting world, the fine Dean Brown

  • He's magnificent.

Best anthem rendition I've ever heard.

  • Wow!

Why can't we get people to sing the U.S. Anthem like that? It always has to be some overexposed celebrity who tries to put their "spin" on the anthem and winds up butchering it beyond recognition.

Why does he sing in French in the middle?

  • @kingslice75

His only equal in the U.S. is Wayne Messmer in Chicago, and he's only singing for the AHL's Chicago Wolves right now.

I agree, we don't need the stylin'. What Jose Feliciano started that October day in 1968....

He is singing the official bilingual version, that's why he's singing in French in the middle.

  • @kingslice75

Ottawa's considered a bilingual city. If you heard earlier with the P.A. announcer, he introduced Slewidge also in French as well.

  • Cheers!

  • Like Rollie, I'm American but this is the best singing of any national anthem anywhere in the world. I saw HNIC in November and this for the first time. Here I have been a hockey fan for 45 years and never heard of him. This guy has to be a national treasure. The best we yanks south of the border ever had to compare him with was Kate Smith singing "God Bless America" and that paled in comparison to this guy. Zaq, I think I'll watch this pre-game now on. Allez Les Ailes Rouge! Go Red Wings!

  • I watch this video before I watch any hockey game.

  • The best.... truly the best.... and I'm an American!

  • I'm looking forward to attending the 11/20/2008 game between the Habs and the Sens at Scotiabank Place.

BTW, I know hand-held camcorders are prohibited at Scotiabank Place, and cell phones and digital cameras are permitted there.

  • u should be fine if u bring either of them (i'm not from ottawa, but thats what i'd assume)

  • Hey! I was at the game on 11/20/2008 and the one on 01/17/2009! What an atmosphere at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa, thanks no less to the 10 000+ Habs fans present at each game!

  • oh that was so beautiful!

  • Best anthem singer in the NHL

  • Totally agree. Great voice.

  • thats cool that the little goalie got to stand right next to gerber
