In the first season there was a creature that knocked over trees and roared really loudly. Later in the show it turns out to be a black smoke that doesn't knock over trees or roar. Seriously?

@imnotgonfry It was revealed to be black smoke in the season 1 finale. Also it never knocked over trees, it uprooted them when it was going through the underground tunnels created by the Egyptians thousands of years in the past. It uprooted trees and roared many times throughout the show.

Ugh...LOST. Never has a TV series made me so angry. Was intriguing for the first 3 seasons, but then the time travelling bullshit started and the whole thing went completely tits up. The ending was a deus ex machina of epic proportions and rendered the tangled web of stories (and backstories) totally irrelevant. It felt awful having invested so much time in these characters to discover that nothing they'd experienced was real or had any consequence at all. What a swindle.

Yes brainiac, it's pretty obvious that they were in a rather contemporary imagining of Purgatory. That doesn't make the mysteries on the island or the alternate "what if the plane never crashed" scenarios any more relevant or purposeful. And I ask you, why the hell should any viewer have to consult a special web video to explain (subjectively, I might add) a mess of inconsitencies resulting from what is simply BAD WRITING? A good show tells it's story on screen.

I started watching this series this month knowing that the mysteries where shit but I heard good stuff about the actors. The appeal of LOST was finding out the cryptic mythology of the island and towards the end of Season 3 it looked as though it was heading towards something concrete. Then it jumped off a cliff - disappeared and reappeared in an alternate universe, full of irrelevant "what ifs" and irritating back and forth. The characters, interesting as they were, became tiresome once the structure that had been built up started to fall apart.

You do know that the series wasn't meant to last as long as it did either? Considering how the last 3 seasons felt totally seperate to the first it's obvious the story was haphazardly rewired to stretch those extra episodes; introducing random characters and subplots that didn't mean anything, in order to keep people guessing. The wire became so tangled they couldn't get back to the connection they started with. You can't blame people for being dissapointed with that.

@RandomnessNeverStops in parts of season 3 they were spinning their wheels because the writers were itching to get into Act 2 of lost(getting off the island and going back) but the network wouldnt allow it at first because they thought the show would be fine. But then the Jack tattoo episode aired and the network realised the writers were right and thats when they negotiated an end date of 3 more seasons and the show to end in May 2010
