  • This is the BEST explaination of how to filet crochet that I have found. You make it so easy to understand! Thanks!

  • I downloaded a pattern for letters so I could do my last name. The pattern is made of squares, but my stitches are rectangles. so my name came out short and wide. I can't seem to find a pattern that is made of rectangles. What am I doing wrong??? These patterns specifically said "Filet Crochet Patterns" I'm so frustrated right now I'm ready to throw every hook I have in the garbage!!!!! Help!!!

  • hi thes, love all your vedios,do yo have a vedio on how you decrease filet crochet?thanks

  • I love this tutorial! It's so easy for me to understand! I've been avoiding certain crochet patterns because the written directions are hard for me to understand. This tutorial video opens my world to all new crocheting possibilities! Thank you so much!

  • Hi! How do you change colour? I want the parts that have to be filled to be another colour, is that possible? Thanks!

  • @savitaaa I have a video on changing color. I will send you the link. You will change color the same way.

  • @savitaaa I send you a video on how to attach new yarn for changing color.

  • Do you have a way to add 2 filled blocks to the beginning and end of the row? I can't figure it out, if you know can you post a video? I love all of your videos, I've learned a lot.

  • @PelletAR Time code 3:40 in this video shows how to add blocks. You will start with less chains when you are filling them in. You will chain 5 to start and then 3 extra chains for each block that you want to add on. There are two things you can do at the end. The first will be to attach an extra length of chain. The second will be to work the foundation double crochet.

  • I need to clarify my previous post....The table cover will be open block, with a few filled blocks in the center.

  • I love your videos! I've learned a few stitches from watching these.....THANK YOU!

My question is, with the filet stitch, how do you start a filled block without the increase?

And....in your opinion, do you think size 3 crochet thread is too heavy for a tablecover, using this stitch? I'd like it to be about 60" X 88", or 120 blocks by 170 rows.

  • If you are unsure, you may want to crochet a small swatch to set on your table and so you can see if it is what you are looking for. The size does not matter as long as you like it.

  • This is the exact stitch I was looking for to make a beanie! But do you know of any patterns to make this stitch with a hat? I mean this is IT! I try to stick with your videos because they are EXTREMELY easy to follow.

  • I do have a light weight beanie that is similar but the stitches are not in top of each other as with the filet crochet. I will send you a separate link so you can see if it is what you may be looking for.

  • Please ignore my post I sent today. I must be losing it! LOL! Had no idea I had already asked you this question...

  • Thank you for the video- it was so helpful! I'm going to make a scarf out of a 50% merino and 50% mohair combo. I saw an example in a book, but there was no pattern. I'll be doing large squares, like you demonstrate, but in single crochet so it's warmer. I hope it comes out well!

  • It looks sort of hard. I just started crocheting a few months ago, and i know all of the basic stitches and stuff. I still need to use my fingers to pull the loops over. i should probably start trying not to.. thanks for the video :)

  • Filet crochet looks harder than what it is. Maybe when you have practiced a bit more, you will feel comfortable giving it a try.

  • I'm so thrilled that you are helping people learn crochet. I'm 55 and have been crocheting since age 8. ( Taught by a totally blind Grandma...that could feel my stitches and tell if they were correct or not....awesome woman.) I do have a question. Is it possible to do filet crochet with thread in 2 colors? I've never figured out a way to do it. The design in solid mesh in one color and the open mesh background in another without applique?

    Thank You.

    Sarah

  • Thank you Sarah. It can be done by leaving the color change attached and picking up the color as you come back across the row. For the places that are spread out farther, you would cut the thread at the color change and sew in the tails later. I have a diamond square that will be the same technique for thread color changes. I will send you a separate link.

  • Thank You so much for the link on tapestry crochet. I hadn't even thought of using bobbins. You've been a big help.

    Sarah

  • is this what you use to put a ribbon throungh when making a blanket?

  • This will work or chain loops will work too.

  • Thank you. I have a lot of ideas.

  • Thank you for this video! I have been trying to figure out filet crochet but could never visualize the patterns.

  • You are welcome. Filet is not as difficult as it appears to be. I know I used to think it was really hard until I made my first project. It is just filling in blocks to make the shape and leaving the mesh ones open.

  • my mom taught me how to crochet a few years ago and since i only knew the single stitch and double crochet ive just been making things up as i go along. your videos are so helpful now i know tons of stitches! your awesome!

  • Thank you. :)

  • so i've never heard of the 3+7 thingy, but how many chains did you make to start this?

  • This was a practice swatch. The 3+7 is important because it is the multiple for each segment of filet that you want to add to your piece. If you want to make 5 filet segments, you will crochet 12+7 extra

  • é uma pena q eu nao entendo nada que ela diz.

  • I am sorry but I don't speak your language. I am unable to help if you are asking a question.

  • I think she's saying... "it's a shame that I don't undestand nothing of what she says"... just guessing

  • Thank you for the translation even if you are guessing, lol

  • give or take a little grammar :p I speak spanish and i think that's portuguese or something like that, very similar

  • This makes soooo much more sense! Thank you so incredibly much! your videos have been super helpful and filets have been confusing the heck out of me!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • wow thankyou.Great clear voice and clear description made this easy for me,a knitter for years learning to filet.

  • You are welcome.

  • All of your videos are so helpful! Even the books I initially used, years ago, can't compare! Thank you so much for posting all of these!

  • You are welcome. :)
