Think of the "howard stern" effect. He was able to get all his fans to keep that bad Americal Idol singer to last longer than he should, so a community banning could have problems like that.  Not from Stern, but from what ever movment would cause tons of people to just register, and vote to ban someone.

I do not believe in democracy on the internet, especielly not on You Tube. Look at the amount of spam here. There are many You Tube users who have very bad protection against viruses etc. On top of the viruses who can form bot nets and "zombies", you have the proxy servers which you can use systematically. Nobody is keeping track of those possible proxy servers.

Hey good idea. Power to the people. To be honest, people in a way already have the power to boot people off of YouTube. A few pedophiles and people who post inappropriate content are easy targets for people to write about to the YouTube staff in order to get them banned.

I agree. This proposed banning policy would be abused. Some people have many haters (and would thus get banned), but have done nothing wrong. For example, most atheists would be unjustly banned.

I've seen the power to boot used already through flagging campaigns, etc. Believe me, the power to boot is generally abused, just as if a bunch of wolves want to eliminate one sheep.
