  • Marshall Chess(son of Chess records founder Leonard Chess) oversaw the psychedelic recordings of the Chess label during this time.

  • This was recorded at the the old Chess Studios here in Chicago in the late 60's.

  • heard this for the first time the other day and haven't been able to get it out of my head. I used to have "Aladin" on something called a 2 track - tiny tapes that were made by some fly-by-night company for use in their little plastic tape machines - I think they were called "Play Tape". anybody remember those?

  • @jackhillty

My sister's Volkswagen was equipped with a Playtape. Pointless. 8-tracks ruled back then.

  • boy, does that take me back. thank you.

  • That was a trippy song. Minnie's vocals made it haunting

  • I wish someone would post their version of "Didn't Want To Have To Do It". I loved the 1st album and especially that song.

  • what about Amen!,the song that opened this album/strange stuff!!

  • Mono? even hippies had stereo!

Actually we didn't listen to this too much.

Anyone who was playing this would bring out the William Shatner rendition of McArthur park next.

you knew it was time to crawl to the door.

  • The whole album was great.Their version of Lady Jane is the best.

  • Heard them in 1968 at the Electric Circus with the Moody Blues and Charles Lloyd. What a show.

  • Beautifuly Psychedelic...love it

  • Had 2 albums in Nam, this and Diseralie Gears by Cream, played the over and over.

  • What a great album!!!

  • the underground version of the 5th dimension, their cover of the creams sunshine of your love from their second album was brilliant!

  • Great song from the Rotary Connection's self-titled 1st album released in late '67.

    Thanks for posting!

Would love to see their version of 'Lady Jane' from that album posted!!

  • Loved this album, with Mini and the effects. Heard them on an automated FM station in Philly around 69', that would play 20min of music, with No DJ or commercials, and just give the call letters every 20 min. They were playing Led Zep, BS&T with Al Kooper, J Joplin, and songs like Hocus Pocus by Focus. A Real Trip..

  • Good memories of Chicago 1969, "Old Town" and Ratso's on Lincoln.

  • Hey! I was THERE!!!!!!!!

  • Unfortunately by 1969 Old Town was in demise as a hot spot. the developers had gotten hold of it. It was New Town that was the new hot spot along with Lincoln , north of Fullerton. New Town had Man-At-Ease and Gramaphone Records open in 1969. Then came the other stores and bars along Broadway.

  • This is a weird song!I found this album once in a thrift shop!

  • This is one of those gems Minnie and Charles left us. God bless INSHREDS45 for posting this. What studio was it recorded in? 2120 ? If I only knew then what I know now!

  • God Bless you too. Cheers.

  • @monzavideo 2120 wasn't owned by Chess in 1967. I think Chess sold it in 1964-5. This may have been recorded at either the 320 East 21st Chess studio or possibly Universal.

  • Charles Stepney at his best. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the studio when they put this together. I was lucky to see Minnie and the band live in Chicago . 1969 was a good year!

  • great song from an underated band
