heard this for the first time the other day and haven't been able to get it out of my head. I used to have "Aladin" on something called a 2 track - tiny tapes that were made by some fly-by-night company for use in their little plastic tape machines - I think they were called "Play Tape". anybody remember those?
mitch used to date my best friends sister, he used to also cut hair, shared dressing room at a show at the blue village in westmont il. remember dianne mitch (if your still around )?
i stay singing this song. i still cant get over the effects Minnie supplied to this song, its spooky, and i love it. turn me one, i want to know what its all about...
Loved this album, with Mini and the effects. Heard them on an automated FM station in Philly around 69', that would play 20min of music, with No DJ or commercials, and just give the call letters every 20 min. They were playing Led Zep, BS&T with Al Kooper, J Joplin, and songs like Hocus Pocus by Focus. A Real Trip..
Unfortunately by 1969 Old Town was in demise as a hot spot. the developers had gotten hold of it. It was New Town that was the new hot spot along with Lincoln , north of Fullerton. New Town had Man-At-Ease and Gramaphone Records open in 1969. Then came the other stores and bars along Broadway.
This is one of those gems Minnie and Charles left us. God bless INSHREDS45 for posting this. What studio was it recorded in? 2120 ? If I only knew then what I know now!
@monzavideo 2120 wasn't owned by Chess in 1967. I think Chess sold it in 1964-5. This may have been recorded at either the 320 East 21st Chess studio or possibly Universal.
Charles Stepney at his best. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the studio when they put this together. I was lucky to see Minnie and the band live in Chicago . 1969 was a good year!
1961-1971 = one thousand years.

My sister's Volkswagen was equipped with a Playtape. Pointless. 8-tracks ruled back then.

Mono? even hippies had stereo!
Actually we didn't listen to this too much.
Anyone who was playing this would bring out the William Shatner rendition of McArthur park next.
you knew it was time to crawl to the door.
