  • Pure music! Listen and learn faggots and sissys..

  • This is not the version i have on my record ......

  • @RubberyCat No, in my opinion this is much more better. The first solo guitar makes the song stronger!

  • @Andhony7

Can it be because you heard this version first?

To me, the version on .... is it Elements? is both stronger and more in tune ...

But that may be because i heard that version first.

  • I love Mike Oldfield...but he has all the charisma of a turnip.

  • @kevycanavan Yeah? Well, you should have seen him *before* his Exegesis sessions... X-D

Still, this is my favorite pop song, from a man who has said repeatedly that his own voice doesn't belong on records. How's that for irony? ^_^

  • Video is not as good, as song is. Love Mike's vocals, he puts a lot of energy in it.

  • @britva817 You're wrong, this is one of the best music videos I've ever seen, and the same goes for all other music videos to Mike Oldfield's songs.

  • @legaata I'll try to explain. Most of Mike's videos i've seen looks like a bunch of interesting images, ideas, great computer graphics, but i see a lack of main idea, plot, story (i don't know how to tell it right, my english is not very good). I can't see whole picture, but pieces. Maybe i'm not understanding something, but i don't like it, that's all.

  • best music

  • in his best moments he is the only one comparable with Franz Schubert.

  • Why does this sound like Roxette??

  • @nt654321 The song does not sound like Roxette, Roxette sounds like this one :-)

  • the thing is people slag him off he can sing play guitar etc etc can the so called pop groups etc do all he can i dont fink so

  • wtf?? another 1 i had never heard before. But must admit it's a really nice feeling to listen to HIS tune for the first time :) lucky to be me hahahahahah

  • this man has NEVER made a bad number of music his amucisian god

  • Heavens Open was the reason why I became a big Mike Oldfield fan. I heard it on the right place and the right time. Now I have probably every album and a load of dvd's of him at home. Thanks for this track

  • Great voice and fantastic, as always, guitar

  • this is so great

  • I like this video, apart from the bits where poor old Mike has to show up in his mullet looking like a confused boy who's just been drafted into Motley Crue.

  • A superb, driving track. Mike was very underestimated in the UK by this time, only to rise (and fall) once again

  • This man is a genius. It's a great song with a bad video. Good came out of this. Heaven's Open was his last album for Virgin. It was after this that he wrote Tubular Bells II.

  • TOLLE MUISK MIKE OLFIED SUPER

  • Mike not made only good works, this one is a proof of it !

  • This song gets you pumped up ! I have it on my MP3 player and listen to it when I exercise ! Absolutely awesome !

  • Heavens Open was the biggest surprise I ever recieved from Mike, he sang every track and did a fantastic job. The vocals on No Dream are remarkable. I couldnt believe it was his voice.

  • I love Mike but this isn't one of his best moments to be fair. Sounds like he's in pain when he sings.

  • Mikes one & only attempt at a pop song is not too bad, but it isn't even in the same league as Portsmouth, Blue Peter or Moonlight Shadow - work of a pure genius!!!

  • Best guitar tone for me, is David Gilmour, hands down. Personally, I love Mike's Tubular Bells 3 (Live). I think that music is some of the best he's ever put out.

  • das geilste video das ich kenne

  • 37 people's are idiots, they dont know what music is...

thumbs up if u think im right ;)

  • @4superday

    39 people`s are iDiots :)

Greatest music ever ever ever ....... ever, Mike is the best!!!!

  • I love both his pop and intstrumental music. He really is a musical genius, and he does well in any genre, just as Julian Tuwim, Polish poet, did both great poems and funny cabaret (most of these, unfortunately, didn't survive post war). I like that he managed not to get pigeonholed in one genre and experimented with pop music. And this song really is uplifting.

  • What happen with this version? ITS GREAT!

  • What was wrong with the original version?

  • I've heard a different version. This one is godawful, even if the filmclip has its cute moments.

  • I love Oldfield,not this.

  • the best guitar tone that i've ever heard in my life PERIOD!!!!

  • @Mayhem2414 Check out: Far above the clouds ( original version) also by Mike

Takes a while til the guitar kicks in.

    And: Ommadawn.

Other guitarists: Camel: Ice( Andy Latimer) and

Firth of fifth, Genesis ( Steve Hackett) are also great.

  • @Matshoppahulle cool man!!, i also like too much the amarok licks, going to check the tones you recommended me, thanks

  • @Mayhem2414 I just came to think of some great guitar from Sweden. Search: Norrland, and also: Brusa hogre lilla a

The guitar is played by Janne Schaffer.

  • @Mayhem2414 You said it. My favorite guitar sound for the last 25 years running.

  • @Mayhem2414 Absolutely! I have used this song of MO as an alarm song for years now. The lyrics are appropriate too to start your day and can't think of a better sound to listen to early morning. MO belting his heart out and the electric sound of the bass guitar is the best way to wake you up perhaps :-).

  • @S0007100980

Right on!!! This is one of his best tracks! The message is powerful, I love that he sings it, I can feel his heart...the guitar is awesome too in this piece. I listen to this song a lot, its a great way to start meditation...

  • No commercial, but a great song !

  • No commercial, but a great song !

  • Clasic music from Michael... nice.

  • I love mike oldfield, but this video remembers me Take on Me from A-Ha

  • 33 trentini andarono a trento mikeoldfiando

  • no imba solo on this version... sad

  • This tune is so catchy ! Fun !

  • One of my secret crushes along with Paul Merton and David Suchet as Hercule Poirot!

  • Keeps reminding me of good old times

  • Even though this is the dodgy, non original Version it's still good

  • I <3 IT

  • He is still so bloody lovely tho, isn't he?

  • I like the album version ten times better, but this is interesting as well.

  • G.O.D. of music. greetings from Poland. Cheers:)

  • For me,one of the best he made.Powerful !

  • P.U.R.E.

  • P.U.R.E.

  • Good or Gerat song? For me its GREAT

  • @stoflzhradiste P.U.R.E.

  • One of the best songs ever. Wish I had written it.

  • 100 times better than the album version

  • The animation to this video isn't the greatest......a lot of it looks like it was done backwards, but I love the song.

  • @TheSeptemberRose I think it was intended to cause a mood backlash, IMO.

  • Gorgeous video for a gorgeous song!! simply beautiful! what a power! what a voice!

  • not good,but excellent song.

  • 31 musical retards

  • J'adore c'est BOOOOOONNNNNN...

  • 29 musical retards

  • lo mejor de los 70 f e l i c i d a d e s

  • This version is much better than the Album One

  • Gran canción

  • This video is such a mood whiplash. While the song is uplifting and pumped, the imagery is (IMO) a bit on the grotesque side (dogs ripping clothes, incineration via flame sword, and the like). Now, I know this was in the wake of the Virgin debacle Mike had going on, so is this the intent?

  • This guitar riff is much better than in the album version.

  • @SmyQ23

I've allwyas knew there was something wrong with the album version... Now i finally know im not stupid!!

Yes the riff on the guitar is what i remebered!!

  • 27 musical retards

  • Wow, what a great song, by such a great arti- OHMYGODMULLET!!!

  • His talent is endless x

  • poor mike, not a bad track but by god does he look out of place being the "pop star"

clearly uncomfortable with this but I am fairly sure he was pushed into this type of thing by money grabbing fat cats.

  • @Ddave73 Yeah, this is a profound song. The pop star image thing doesn't portray its meaning.

  • @Ddave73 I think Mike likes show on the videos

  • @Ddave73 i never realised but your definatley right! this is one of my fravorite songs from him but the video stinks. Now knowing that it probably had nothing to do with him i too feel sorry for uncle Mike. Lovin the vocals and of course the guitar. I think he's a recluse these days.

  • The 27 people who disliked this vid are content living in hell :)

  • Nagyon szeretem!!!!!!

  • I so much love this video. The animation is so beautifull

  • I forgive you all. Happy Halloween people!

  • bril tune

  • Dafür nahm Mike extra Gesangsunterricht.Hat sich gelohnt.Wunderbares Album.

  • Hey Guys! It is fantastic song, but this version is alternative music version! Listen the same from album. Mike is Great composer.

  • pero una pregunta mike oldfield no canta esta cancion noo ¿???

  • @meterleee Sí, todo el disco de Heaven's Open lo canta él

  • @igochan gracias es un loko haciendo musica lo ke no sabia ke tambien la cantaba

  • Heaven's Open - views 666.419 :)

  • is it just me, or have we never seen another song where Mike himself sings, outside of here??

  • @blozier2006 Given the power of his performance, it is a pity. He can sing terribly well.

  • @blozier2006

He sings all of the songs on "Heaven's Open". (Five tracks.)

  • There are guitarist you can identify when you hear them playing only some few notes. Mike is surely one of them.

  • MIKE A ZISTEN! :)

  • tell ya what this man is so underrated. he is a musical genius. over 30 albums. not many can say that these days.

  • I Have this album, it is called "Michael Oldfield" Heaven's Open?

    still amazing though!

  • Ahoj pokud se dívá někdo kdo znal Věru Šebíkovou prosím ozvěte se! sebajakub@seznam.cz

  • I love Mike's guitar sound ^ ^ Original and priceless

  • Did Mike have a license for that mullet in 1991??

I've always loved the song though.

  • Underware, open shirt and one long stripey sock? Wow

  • Ya sé de donde sacaron los "Gormitis" (Dominio de los Vientos y Energia del Mar)UMMMMM se parecen mucho no????

  • Trippy as hell, but still an awesome song!

  • When I hear Mike sing, he kinda sounds like Bowie in delivery...

  • Que bela guitarra...What a beautiful guitar. Mike plays it super well.

  • This song is so beautiful, it sometimes drives tears in my eyes..

  • shit.

i look at mike and i just see like, bach and mozart and stravinsky in a pop video.

    it's mindblowing.

seeing him doing this is the exact same feeling as seeing them doing it.

  • I think the vocal coaching definitely paid off - irony of ironies, this is far and away my favorite Oldfield vocal track, despite the vocal powerhouses he hired for tracks in the past.

Now, if only he could have found an acting coach to keep him from looking like a complete ham in this video... :-D

  • Mike is always at his best with his long instrumental work. His lyrics have a lot of promise, but he really needs to be paired with a poet to match the depth of the music.

  • I really prefer a thousand times the album version... The album version gets step by step into a karma! Has a perfect conception of getting to the paradise

  • @segadreamer I have never heard the album version, unfortunately, but what caught my attention when I saw this once on TV many years ago was the amazing animation. It did not look like any other animation I had seen, and at that time I thought I would never be able to see it again. However, I scribbled the title on a small piece of paper, just in case... I guess I was not even really aware that the singer/composer was the same person who made that great Tubular Bells music...

  • @PhantasyStarLover watch?v=zW9-YXpa2L8

Here PhantasyStarLover, I you can, listen it with a great headphones, enjoy it carefully, and close your eyes... You'll understand what I'm trying to tell you.

I'ts curious your story, and I'm with you, the animation it's just a great piece of art, and I could sometimes imagine the album version with some kind of pictures as the clip showed, anyway, this songs dont need a clip for me,I just can imagine the heaven opening...

  • very emotional ♥ :')

  • This is so awful. He should have retired after "Discovery"...

  • @sissimogluroller If he'd retired after Discovery, we'd never have gotten Amarok, and that would've been a crying shame.

  • writing songs an lyrics is not his forte, his strength is always in writing beautiful instrumental music

  • does anyone knows where to find tabs for this song?

  • Can you feel that power? Its Extasy!

    Life is beautyful friends!

  • I listened to this when i was a baby, and now :D

  • Big MO fan for 20 years - loved this tune from the first time I ever heard it. Still toying with the idea of it being played at my funeral..

Don't care for this edit but prefer the album version which is excellent.

    Thanks for sharing though!

  • I remember my dad would play this full blast to wake us up fro school lol.

    Awesome song.

  • Is it really him (Mike) singing?

  • @Davccelion Yes, Mikes sings this one! Heaven's Open is the only album on which he sings all songs himself.

  • not enough legends like him anymore

  • Слегка изменена в сравнении с оригиналом. Не в лучшую сторону IMHO. А видеоряд - супер!

  • Mans a musical genius.

  • Das Lied erinnert mich an meine Freundin von vor 18 Jahren...leider ist sie nicht unter uns..es tut weh das Lied zu hören..aber es ist tröstlich zu wissen dass sie an einem besseren Ort ist.

    R.I.P.

  • Esta versión es algo diferente de la del CD, aún asi... es una pasada de canción

  • @Kriaturametal this is a different version you can find on a few rare singles.

  • This is simply superb... Mike at his best.

  • Una de mis canciones favoritas del DIOS MIKE OLDFIELD!!!!!

  • felsőfok

  • Fesőfok

  • The incredible irony here is that, after all the vocal powers he's had sing for him - Jon Anderson, Max Bacon, Roger Chapman, Aled Jones, Barry Palmer, Maggie Reilly - my favorite Mike Oldfield vocal song is one that he sung himself. ^_^

  • @DallasHammster Exactly the same for me haha, except my favourite "vocal song" from him is On Horseback. This is a close second.

  • @DallasHammster

    You`re right!! He`s phantastic!

  • this is hilarious. i'm a huge fan of oldfield's instrumental work, and seeing him prance about and belt out the tunes is as ridiculous as seeing bach or mozart do the same.

  • @cbnamyah

I could not agree more ...

    Best regards

    J.

  • The two great guitar vituosoes Mike Oldfield and Carlos Santana both play PRS guitarts. Mike is a great guitar player with a signature sound just like Carlos Santana.

  • good job

  • Mike is the best.

  • Mike cantando! :O que buena voz tiene también!

  • I love the screaming guitar at the end, amazing! The best guitar solo on this album is the one on "No Dream". Sounds like a guitar/saxophone hybrid!

  • Mike himself on the vocals cool song.. great guitars... like a dream..

  • Fantasztikus, még mindig!

  • @naimnait9 Bizony, hogy az... Zenei zseni :)

  • @naimnait9 úgy van :)

  • A great album, I just never got into the instrumental part "Music from the Balcony".

Maybe one day I'll give it another listen.

  • nice one!

  • the original version in the album is different?! anyway i like this version very very much!

  • version from CD has anoher guitar parts and solos. IMAO this version is much better. Redgrads from Poland

  • i hope you have recognized me. I was the man in hide who exploded in the fountain that rose the girl and the horse and all what was on the scene. So strong i was lol.

  • muy buena canción ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Майк-лучший! Небеса действительно открылись!

  • mike waar haal je het allemaal vandaan

  • greets ChefSmoerf........

  • This has been one of my favourite of Mike's songs since I first heard it nearly 15 years ago, but I've never seen the video before!

I don't know why he was so worried about singing his songs himself, as he does so very well here...

  • This is a good song by Mike probably my favourite but

  • lijkt net joey rikhof

    holland zevenaar gelderland straussstraat 2

    :) Gr Laela steneker

  • thanks

  • Bad Mullet day lol, love this album, Mike seems to be apprehensive when singing but he really shouldnt be.

  • Great song,super guitar,nice video.Mike is the best,thank you from Slovakia

  • he allways forced me to close my eyes! like a spell! i don´t see any video! goose-flesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    allways since i can think!

only he´s guitar in my head!

  • this version's different from the album.

    I like it better, tho.

I have no idea what it is about mike oldfield that makes his music so...appealing. it's different in a good way.
