    hey question

can i install os x of a macbook pro 13'' to macbook 13''? i mean can i use the same cd?

because i dont have the cd of my macbook, but i have one of macbook pro

  • @thebestechnology I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can only use the restore DVD that came with your machine on that model. At least according to the licence. It may work in other Macs but the licence will be broken if you use it on another model of Mac.

  • @thebestechnology Mac OS snow leopard can be installed on all intel based Macs.

  • Thanks! Easy enough :)

  • @2Gd2BtRuE2250 I have added you question to my moderator on my channel just need to get people to vote for it.

  • thank for sharing ...

can i do clean installation with the upgrade disc ?

what about the applications like (garageband, imove etc)?

please help me with i really appreciate thank you

    DRAWER.

  • yes the domestication in the video is with the upgrade disc.

ilife will have to be installed separately from your original mac dvds

  • @pkerry12 i really appreciate for you help thank a million ...

    another quick question :

i don't have the disc's which came with i lost them

but less than two months ago i bought a mac pro tower can i use these applications for the mac book?

please this is the last question thank you

  • there is nothing stopping you from installing ilife on any computer with but there is a license breech if you do so, you most likely need to buy ilife.

  • did you do a clean install with your time machine backup plugged in....

  • nope I just did a clean install and then at the end I pulled off all my data of my time machine drive manually

  • how do you do pull data from time machine manually

  • hey; i need to herinstall my macbook, but i don't have no mac os x cd more...where can i get that cd??

    sorry for my english!

  • if your macbook is still under warranty you should be able to go to your local apple store or call up apple support and they will replace your mac OS X dvd free of charge.

  • @pkerry12

No i do'nt have no more warranty:(

  • if you upgrade from leopard does it delete your data?

  • @sdtvrulez

    no because its an upgrade

only clean installs will delete data.

  • Dumb question, is this the Upgrade CD? I am under the impression that you needed Leopard preinstalled before the upgrade can occur.

  • doesn't matter what version you have upgrade cd or family pack they all have Full install abilities and yes that is an upgrade disc. Cheers.

Snow leopard you can do this

But Leopard is dependent on what version you have.

  • hey can you hook me up with your logic express serail number cuz i jus got the express 9 but i didnt know ur suppose to have the 8 or 7

  • Hey, Can I use someone else mac os x leopard Boot CD to upgrade on my macbook or that doesnt work.

  • Legally your not allowed to

but other than the legal aspect nothing else can stop you from doing it.

  • So why is it better to do a clean install than an upgrade??

  • Simple Answer it runs faster in comparison to Geekbench scores.

  • Ok followup question. When I wipe my entire hard disk and do the clean install of Snow Leopard, can I transfer my Time Machine stuff to it?

  • Yep the Migration assitant will automacitally come up when you do a clean install and you can migrate all you data from you time machine data it will be like you never lost any data. you will just have speed and snow leopard. and more space

  • Cool thanks. :D

  • Great video! You helped me out with my install.... thanks

  • Your English accent sounds slightly American.

  • I am Australian Mate not English. But thanks for the comment.

  • Thats strange, I'm usually good at this. ARE U ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE YOUR AUSSIE,.. JUST KIDDING MAN, TAKE CARE.

  • I've got a few questions but I think I'll have to pm you coz I need a lot of answers.

  • yea

  • Can you do a migrate after snow leopard is installed from time capsule? I want to completely clean my hard drive, install snow leopard, then put my hard drive from time capsule back on. Is this possible?

  • yep after a clean install just use the the migration assistant or copy over you data manual but yeah when Migration assitance comes up just select migrate from time machine backup.

  • i have snow leopard family-pack version, can i do clean install or i just can do an upgrade?

  • yes you can do a clean instal with the family pack as well.

  • but someone told me that the $28(single-pack) and $48(family pack) can do the upgrade only. we can have the stand alone version of snow leopard for $16*, the one come with iWork and whatever. reply me. =D thanx.

  • who ever told you that is suffering from the ID-10T error there are alot of users out there that get that error :)

But seriously the $28 and $48 pack both are stand alone disc's with full installs of snow leopard, the leopard cd is no longer needed.

  • so thats mean i can install snow leo. without leopard installed install first without error on my macbook white?

  • yes thats right

  • When I clicked erase when I was erasing my hard drive for the clean install, it took a couple seconds, but yours took a long time. Did i do something wrong?

  • Hi your erase would have been quick you did a standard erase

you need to do a "Zero out Data" Erase you will find this in Security options next to the "Erase" button.

  • Ok, now what it is the difference? between the zero out data and the standard erase? Thanks

  • zero out will erase all existing data plus all the data you can't see on multiple levels

So this results in faster performance on your drive

  • Thanks, subscribed too

  • 2 questions:

    1) So basically you don't need the Leopard disk as long as you have the Snow Leopard? It's just a matter of license/EULA, since Snow Leopard is just an 'upgrade' ?

(Just want to make sure I don't need to carry around with both discs, in case something should happen).

    2) Where did you find that wallpaper at first in the video? :)

  • The snow leopard so called "upgrade" disc is a full installation disc so yeah you don't need your leopard dvd anymore or ever will.

And I can't even remember where i got that wallpaper from some where on the net I guess hehe.

  • so you recomend doing this? because i just "upgraded" not fresh installed it so.... yeah

  • it really depends it can go well for you and it can go bad. I did an upgrade on my Mac pro, and based on Geekbench 64 bit i LOST performance in terms of score. So thats Why I recomend a clean install cleans out all the bad things and stuff

  • can you perform a clean install with the Snow leopard upgrade disk?

  • yes

  • yes the update disk is a full installation disc not just an upgrade disc.

  • But I didn't trust the install so now i am re-installing again this time per your instructions.

  • You were so right... my first install I didn't zero out the data and the install went wrong! Macintosh HD was not on the desktop and even missing from the finder!? Yet it somehow functioned.

  • was it really necessary to zero out the data on the hard drive?

  • if you want some real speed you need to

  • Thanks a lot for your video. You gave me the courage to go ahead with my first clean install ever today. Everything worked great.

  • I just did this to my Macbook Pro this morning. Snow Leopard seems really nice already.

  • Clean install as well? Nice hehe yeah I think it runs very well the only problem I have now is my istat doesn't work no more hehehe Hurry up with an update for istat!!! hehee

  • Yupp I did a clean install. Right after I installed it I launched checked to see if istat was working but it took more than 4 seconds to load, and i got bored from waiting, so i quit dashboard...lol. So i guess ill have to wait for the update.

  • You don't need rosetta. Come on.

  • lol never hurts to be cautious hehe I have a lot of apps hehe.

  • nice wallpaper
