The first I heard of this movie was the write-up in the 1974 Detroit Triple Comic-Con program book (with The Spirit on the cover); Alan Ormsby was apparently a guest. Also, the local Saturday afternoon horror movie show used several shots from this in its title sequence. But what's more incredible--that the director of this did Porky's or that the writer/star wrote My Bodyguard?
Goddamn the drunk driver that ended Benjamin Bob Clark's life. It was a death that should have been averted. But long live Bob's work as a director for films that include two of my all time favourites he did: A Christmas Story and ( my opinion, the scariest zombie film I have ever seen) Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things. RIP Bob. You will be missed.
I'm working against Drunk Drivers, we must put an end to it or maybe more people will die in the hands of these idiots who can't respect alcohole, you either drink or drive not both, tragic that we lost Bob Clark to this "disease" we call drunk drivers. I haven't seen this one since the Million Dollar Movie on WOR-TV. Only, most of the movies that they showed were made for way less money. Still, this one is pretty cool for being made on the cheap. The dialogue was good for a few laughs, and I ended up rooting for the zombies, except for when they got the caretaker.
there are many studies to show just the opposite that pot does cause problems for the user. I am in no way saying that drinking is better or worse, but to say weed is harmless is just wrong.
I've never understood that myself. Why is alcohol legal, when it causes so many health and social problems, while weed, which is actually harmless in comparison, illegal ? The social problems come from drug dealers because the shit is illegal, if it were legalized, it would take it out of the hands of those people, and cut down on violence that surrounds it. I don't smoke it, but I still think it's silly to illegalize it.
I agree. About the worst thing that could happen if somebody smokes pot is they'll become a layabout. I also choose not to smoke pot or anything, but there's alot worse drugs out there. If I were a lawmaker I would be more concerned about meth or ecstasy pills and give pot smokers a damn break.
Damn straight no one should be treated like Bernie from Weekeend at Bernies..or this is what happens! Damn another Porkys! with Howard Stern at the helm that would of been awesome..arrr! The guys in this film look like Scoby doo rejects clothes and looks un all..and wheres the chrildren there 35+..still quite an ejoyable film... fun!
people are still ripping off or influenced by Bob Clark , from Black Christmas to Christmas Story to Porky's , the guy was a genuine trailblazer and maverick , save for those two movies you mentioned that i won't :) . JV
Yeah Bob clark was a very talented guy. I admire his versatility. He made 'Porky's' which was probably the furthest thing from a horror movie you could get. Then he directed 'A Christmas Story' which was a wholesome family film, pretty far from 'Porky's'.
A Christmas Story is a holiday tradition for me. And I'm making it a point to buy a DVD of Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things. I miss it so much.
Fun review! Tho I'm not crazy about people showing the best, most pivotal part of the whole movie, here on youtube. That needs to be seen in the context of the film, on a bigger screen and preferably in a darkened room! Not here like this. But maybe that's just me. :)
