Bless you for what you are doing! Some of the most horrific crimes against innocent children are committed under the cover of plain garb and religion. Yes, there is much good in the Amish and Mennonite lifestyles, but there is also a great evil that festers when those who know turn a blind eye. Thank you for being courageous enough to speak truth.

You can research a lot of the cases yourself on the net. There is a difference between spanking a child on the rear end and beating a child unconscious, throwing them in a trough of cold water to revive them and then beating them again, as happened to my father by members of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.  There is also the practice of covering up such abuses to protect the "good standing" of the church or the community.

I'll start off by saying that I am a married mom of two, a boy who is five years old and a girl who is three years old. Neither of them have ever been spanked in their lives, or had their hands slapped, or hit in any other manner, and we also do not use time out. It may surprise you to know that they are both extremely well-behaved, kind, polite, friendly, and loving kids who get positive comments frequently.

I too was abused as a child in a "Catholic" family and was also excommunicated and shunned, to this day. I know exactly what it feels like to try and get help in a community of "family" that could care less about the victim, and only about protecting the perpetrators. I too have suffered from child abuse, and i commend you for speaking the often times unspeakable. The real cancer in child abuse is the silence and the looking the other way...i think it so painful for people to come to terms with the reality of it, and understandably so,it is a horrific act,

My father made his money that way, he would buy run down farms and clean them up and resell them for profit. But that is not the real reason. Dad always ran into problems with the church.
