If time travel is possible, where are the Time Travelers?

You could call a photograph or a video recording a form of Time Travel (or maybe Past Time Observation?) as you are viewing events in the past however we are incapable of interacting with or effecting anything in that kind of medium. Given that humans are capable of recording present events and viewing them later then I'd assume in some way the universe keeps a constant 'recording' of the past. Now whether we can ever view it or interact with it is completely different.

I have a crushingly possible explanation for this poser. It is because - in this timeline, nobody will ever invent a time-machine that works properly. Or they had done so (ie time-travel existed all along, but didn't require machines), but that is the kind of thing that was abused by others who don't understand it - hence by greed and / or stupidity, they have removed or restricted motility in time from here.

Time travel into the future is easy. We do it every moment of our lives without even trying. It is traveling to the past that seems to be much more difficult.

@erk13z - that's cause we're on Play, in the constant now-moment. Progressively choosing - existing and burning onto the tape / background of the universe / akashics, with what things we in fact think do and say. To go back means Stop - only yourself individually, you'd need to rotoscope yourself out of reality, and then re-edit the past - while the tape is still on Play for everyone-thing else. I ain't saying it cannot be done, just that to not botch it means knowing how to excise just you.

i know its possible to slow time down around you if you are near a black hole (not in event horizon) so time is slowed for you but everywere else time stays the same. i just dont know how you would go back in time. Plus a year in the slowed down time would feel the same as in normal time so it could get boring waiting for the right time to pop out and go see the future

nope. If you are near a black hole, you se the universe go faster. You do not experience the same time as everyone else. You experience time according to your relativity. If you could see yourself from outside, you would be a statue.

In addition, this all changes if the black hole is spinning. If it spins, then time goes faster, not slower. This is called an ergosphere. You would see the rest of the universe as a statue. if you were outside, you would see yourself die and become dust quickly.

It was Einstein's general theory of relativity that provided the first clue to understanding black holes. His theory also states that gravity affects time. The more massive an object is, the more it can slow down time. The gravity of a black hole is so great that time nearly stands still. If you were on the outside of a black hole watching a spaceship fall in, you would see the spaceship appear to slow down until it finally disappears.

yes. But if you were on that space ship, and somehow found a way not to be obliterated by gravity waves, you'd be happy and dandy. Remember relativity. A person on the ship feels no different, but sees you moving faster and faster. A person outside feels no different, but sees you going slower and slower. Time is all relative!

@Gormanmod - perception is relative, technically time is constant in the sense that - for example, the timing of the planets orbits around the sun, which is where we get the concept and experience of timepieces / clocks from, absolutely must be in-synch with each other. If Jupiter decided to percieve time at a diff. rate from Saturn, that is ok - but if they actually changed their speeds around the Sun or their own axis = disaster, in any case major cataclysmic events.

I realise that at the end of the all, we rely on our sensory input to also build and interpret any instruments of measurement of anything, but I mean the above within the context of times passage = movements of eg Earth around Sun and so forth.

@Gormanmod - in case that wasn't clear - did you mean gravity can alter time, like if for example there was an alteration in gravity near a planet, and instead of that planet taking the usual 10 minutes to turn x-amount of degrees on its own axis, it took 10.5 minutes instead*? Cause if you don't mean it in that way, then I don't know what you mean then.

*just presuming you measured it using an Earth-Solar clock / timepiece, itself not affected by that gravity change on the measured planet

Depends on the theory behind it... I believe in Parallel universes.. so if we were to go back in time (which by Einstien's theory is possible) we would end up in a parallel dimension, so take back into the future for example, If we actually went through the same scenerio where you met your mother and she fell in love with you, you would not disappear because it is a parallel dimension, although you and your mother have the same DNA she's not actually your mother because she never gave birth

I've considered that theory too, but to me, it seem that it would require a lot of things to happen, you would need a parallel dimension, (in an unlimited amount of dimensions, it shouldn't be hard to pick out one remotely like our own). but you would also need a way for all these dimensions to co-exist with each other as separate dimensions, not mixing separate things from one, and blending from another, and not tuned halfway between one and another. we have no proof of this, yet...

none of us was ever visited by some anyone from the future, that leaves these possibilities:

1) tt will never be possible in any far future OR men cannot travel -back- into time OR cannot travel back into time -before- the first time machine was made.

2) tt exists but is penalised by death sentence and noone ever managed to break that law successfully.

3) tt exists but will never allow anyone to travel back into this precise universe.

@LordBalto that's not exactly true, yes it could be possible to time travel in a UFO f said UFO can travel faster than the speed of light, but even then traveling that fast would affect any mass, also when you look at the universe the earth is a very small part so the UFO would have to be completely outside of space. Space is even between galaxies so there would be nowhere in which you could escape space time

@LordBalto although a UFO moving faster than the speed of light could travel through time (with some affects to mass), the earth is not the cause of a warp in space time, matter causes this warp which is why the earth orbits the sun, because the sun warps space time just like the why the moon orbits the earth. However, this platform would have to be outside of space entirely for it to be a time machine without going faster than the speed of light
