Spännande fotografier. Mycket fina.
There are some motors saving here. If this was in England there would be an ugly brawl that would be fuelled by greed just to get these cars. Restoration is usually a gentle, enthusiasts hobby that would cost more than the car is worth, even beyond financial sense and that is my way!!
In European continent and Scandinavia, most cars are just left there where they sit just to disintergrate.
Quote: "...and Scandinavia, most cars are just left there where they sit just to disintergrate" That is very untrue! The vintage car hobby is BIG in Sweden and This yard used to be a goldmine for restorers in the 1970-80's, then all the best cars got sold. The owner Åke, who drank "a bit too much", got more and more stubborn trough the years and that may be the reason for anything remaining at all. BTW now it is an outdoor museum and a tourist spot, nothing to be removed!
And as a matter of fact, one of the cars in the yard, a 46 Chevrolet four door "belongs to me". I paid 400 Swedish crowns for it in the late 80's, but I moved and was not able yto pick it up (I still have the receip that I paid for it!). That car was already then in very poor condition so I decieded to pick it clean for was worth to be saved and leave it in the yard. The frame was like "hard bread", you could break it by hand, (I would have saved a 36 3w cpe in that shape, but not a 4d 46 Chev)
No, the owner is not around anymore. Åke, as his name was passed away some years ago. During the 1980's I visited his junk yard many time, and brought many parts from him for my old cars. He was a loner, with the bible in one hand and the bottle in the other... Many storys can be told about him, but we came along well as I cared to listen and took my time. I haven´t visited the place since it became a "tourist attraction".
@TexasDistortion Turning these car into rat rods might be the only way these cars can return to the road as rennovation and putting a V8 smallblock for example, is expensive. The structural rust must be done obviously.
This is actually located in the south of Sweden! Its a small place called Ryds. The site is now more or less a turist attraction, and the cars will stay where they are. The owner still lives in a home for old people.
Why would some one want to fix these cars its mother natures now. When where all gone thousands of years from now after war our cars will look like this the only thing left
None of those cars are fixable. Believe me. Even a 300SL in that kind of condition would be almost impossible to fix. Leave them where they are and enjoy them.
2:25 i have seen a tire bolted to a tree before similar to that

"I'm gonna fix that up someday", has been the end of countless cars that rotted into the ground.
