I'm into Ae since the very beginning of Ae/IDM, of course they are gods. And this track from WAP100 was a remarkable milestone. It starts so conservative (relatively) with just very subtile tempo variations, but then the tempo changes: Amazingly solved. A revolution! Musically also a very nice song with even melody.
The hissy melody thing in the end was already known from before, I think they started the hissy/crackling noise thing with Latent Quarter. Typically Ae.
You guys and girls who like this I have to say know your music. I have liked there music for a long time. I think one of the truly good music makers. I think there music is good for artists. Kind of could have meaning outside itself but works within the boundaries of what it is. You couldn't evaluate it or experience it like a song by Dylan or something like that. An abstract language.
wanky wanky little boy grows up and becomes excentric :)
ae should make track which starts from simplistic, ridiculous beat which gradually becomes smart, more complex, broken and experimental and then it turns godly.
i am pretty sure there must be sound that goes beyong "gantz graf", "pir", "vletrmx" and all the aphex twin's best songs ever made, together taken with squarpusher's "tundra" or "planetarium", mixed with plaid....
i just know it's possible. just use my idea and create it ;)
@1idm your idea was a playlist. also you don't really explain much about differences in "ridiculous" to "smart/more complex/broken/experimental" to "godly."
Yeah the Plaid track "Ilasis" is fucking brilliant, too - one of my all-time favs by them. Not sure how that one didn't make it onto an album. And of course the collaboration between AFX and Squarepusher for "Freeman, Hardy & Willis Acid" is mindblowing - one of the best collaborations I've heard in the genre. It really is a great compilation...
@CipaterGrey; love your interpretation of this tune. Thanks for posting!

It's playing on my local college radio station as I type this... LOL. Didn't expect that one. :D

@Rogueofmv Wow. You mean people at your college have taste? My school sure doesn't. They're music rarely goes beyond Ke$ha and stuff. Lucky you.

I got this on the WARP album when it came out - it's also got BOC on it.

Wow...I've been a dedicated Ae fan for over a decade and this is the first time I've heard this track. How could I have missed this?
bopomofo 3 years ago
Because it's not an album THEY released. I missed this as well as all of the other artists too. :/
