I cried. I've never had to put a cat down...they have all been outdoor cats and just one day didn't come home or got hit by a car...If I had to take them to the vet and be the one to hold them as they fall asleep I don't think I could handle it.
I still sometimes cry when I think of him, especially over videos such as these. He had intestinal cancer, so he couldn't defecate. It broke my heart when I saw my dad drive away with him in the back of my dad's truck. What's hurts even more is that I didn't feed him every day, forgot to give him water, neglected to walk him.

But a pet is someone's pet; and that person loves their "baby" with all their heart (considering they are good companions; and I say companions and not owners, because in my eyes, humans and pets are equal). My first dog I ever had was a mutt, a beagle-terrier mix runt who was found on the streets and adopted by my mom in a pound. He was only about a year old then. I got him for my first birthday. I kept my distance from him at first, but then, over the years, I loved him.
RIP Whitey i feel for you, my cat died 2007 he got 17 years old he couldn't eat and walk properly he was a swedish big farm cat.. he lost much weight. He didn't want to be seemed in that way he went into the bathroom and laid in the corner, we couldn't let him suffer we had to take him to the vet and put him away for heaven. He was my heart.
I used to work at a pet groomers.... they had a cat there that was 25 years old! His name was catman, and he was the aweseomest cat ever, i miss you cat man.

I came home and he was dying on the floor...Not dead yet, But the funny part is the day before or a couple days he died he was on the table, I was eating a pot roast and I looked away for 2 seconds and he stole the whole thing off my plate lol. His last good meal before he died. Now hes in Heaven partying with Jesus.

Im sorry I know how you feel, I went through the same thing before, it was my cat William, the day William died I could not sleep, My sister could not sleep. It was sadness for me. The only thing that cheered me up was hugging my cat other cat Smokey. 2006 was my worst year, first one is my hamster Chestnut died, then it was my cat Willam who died next.
Prayers for you <3 my baby boy Stimpy had to be put down March 26.2011. 5 days before his 5th birthday, I raised him from birth, his mama was my sisters cat and she let me have a kitten, I was instantly in love, Stimpy got out from the house and ran away only to come back mauled by a dog =( My mom,sister and I rushed him to the vet where they told us he had to be put down. Wow, I'm sorry. I know how you feel. My dog Red died in my arms. I only had him for 8 months, he was old when we got him around 14, but he followed me everywhere, waited for me to get home from school, slept with me at night and everything. He was my baby boy. November 16 2006 he woke me up at 245 in the morning having a seizure. I calmed him down and petted him and let him know it was ok. Exactly an hour later he woke me howling and I felt his last breath. I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry. You did the right thing. I hate it when people let their pets suffer because they don't want to let go. I know it's hard, but he doesn't hurt anymore :(
I gotta question, my 3 year old cat threw up a lot last night and she layed in bed most of the day. She just got out and looks a bit tired. She loves to play, but she isn't right now. Do you think she's just tired from throwing up or is she really sick with like leukimia or something?
@EAZYETUPACBIGGIEBIGL -- Did she throw up just once or a lot? I'm not a veterinarian but healthy cats don't thrown up a lot for no reason. Better safe than sorry. I'd take her for a check up ASAP, have them draw blood and examine her just to make sure all is well. Cats are really good at hiding pain and illness, so take her even if she seems better. Whitey walked around with a tumor for weeks and never complained, but the vet said it definitely caused him pain. I never knew.
@EAZYETUPACBIGGIEBIGL She might have a blood clot. Please please please get her checked up, my cat had the same symptoms and just died of it last night. Please dont go through the same thing, and get her checked ASAP...
My cat died today too, he had to have had at least 900 lives with having his leg damaged by a pitbull and he still managed to permanently blind the mongrel, or when he got HIV, kidney problems, heart murmur, being deaf and very short sighted and having a stroke every other week still always got better... Recently however, nothing has been wrong with him. He was eating well and lively and passed away what had to have been an hour after I saw him last in his sleep.
@shawzie1916 -- I'm so sorry you lost Garfield. Sounds like he had an exciting life and you loved him a lot. You gave him a good home, and I bet he died a happy cat. And now, he has no pain, no fear, no dogs going after him. Just peace and comfort... eternal purring!

@CompleteAnimeFan -- Whitey's sister had a stroke, a small one -- actually called a saddle thrombus -- and she recovered quite well; I still have her today, almost 18 years old now. I was saying if Whitey had only had something like that, or if he only had a minor tumor -- one or the other -- I would have been willing to put him in the hospital for a while and then take him home. But he had both a huge stroke and a huge, painful tumor. With that combo, I knew it was for his best to let him go.
Thats sux my cat passed away last night,she had a blood clott that paralized her back legs,she was crying like crazy. I dont know if she was in pain or wat,but the vets said she also had hypothermia.dont know if its because of shock. But yea i feel ur pain.i also filmed my good bye wit her.

Im sorry about Whitey. My beautiful cat, Mitten died last week and she was only 12 and in good health (a paralysis tick got her). Losing her was so unexpected and emotionally painful.

This is sad....I know what it's like to lose a pet, and it hurts. But, it is for the best that they are put out of their misery when they are suffering. RIP Whitey.

Whitey had such a nice life with you, and so long he was loved. He wanted to say goodbye differently, but he couldn't at the time. All he could do was think about the care you had given him and hold on until he could sleep peacefully. He is so thankful for all that you did and what you meant to him. He loves you so much.
@nagasakti77 -- I still have Whitey's sister, Joony. She will be 18 years old next April! She is also diabetic but doing very well on her daily insulin shots. I only feed her low-carb food, I make sure she gets plenty of water, and she goes to the vet about every 4 months for a blood test and exam. She doesn't groom herself enough anymore and she won't let me brush her much, so she will now get her fur shaved down about once a year to control the matting. Gotta do what you gotta do!

I'm a "crazy cat lady"&animal lover lucky to have a kook of a husband that may love animals more than I do. I'd went through the same agony you had with my favorite kitty "Manny" in 2005. My vet, I swear the man is part feline, tried so hard to bring Manny back to his usual happy& healthy self but he just couldn't rally, An intestinal blockage& kidney tumor were found on x-ray, He was our 1st pet we ever had to put down& it hurt. More pets have gone on since but I still miss my Manny. >^._.^<

I'm so unbelievably sorry you had to go through with this. I've had my cat since I was 3 and he's starting to get health problems now that he's about 17 now. I can't imagine how much it's going to hurt to have to say goodbye. Just watching your video brought tears to my eyes. I hope these past few years have given you time to heal from your loss. We love our pets with all our hearts, and when it comes to their unfortunate last day/s, they know we loved them and can be proud that even though they passed, we can cling on to the memories of the good times, happiness and joy they gave to us and others. I have a 6 year old dalmatian, she is loved by me and the kids, she is part of our family and always will be, even though Whitey has passed, he feels no more pain, and as a fellow pet lover you have my deepest sympathy, RIP Whitey x

I feel ur pain big time. My cat that Ive had for nine years is about to die and man its killing me. We took her to vet yesterday and they say she'll have a month to live tops. I hope she makes it thru Xmas so I won't be so depressed, but shes lost a lot of weight and can hardly eat and hobbles around badly :'(

I no how it is to loose an animal very close to you. I was once walking with my brother outside oh and a friend and it was a couple of days after i lost my cat. I hoped over this branch and while i was walking down the little strip of land i saw a cat skeleton and with calico fur around it and i knew exactly it was mine. And now that i have seen many sad cat videos i am crying and cant stop. But i want you to know to stay strong and never forget the moments you had with him.
I just hope people actually have the vet put their animal to sleep first then inject the other stuff. My mom had a horrible vet that injected her kitty of 18 years with stuff that made him scream before he died I WAS HORRIFIED AFTER SHE TOLD ME THAT AND SHE WAS TOO OF COURSe! I am posting this to make sure everyone tells their vet to put he animal to sleep FIRST! I assumed that was done all the time ):
@goodfoodgoodpeople -- Yes, Whitey was sedated first. In fact, he was so close to death, just the sedative slowed his heart to almost stopping. He was gone within seconds of receiving the euthanasia drug, so I think he probably was about to die without it. But we couldn't know that until after the fact. Anyway, yes, Whitey's final moments were very gentle and peaceful, thank you. :)
aww im sorry. i had a cat sence i was 6 i was 21 when he passed away. they really do become part of the family. his other brother passed away when i was 22 which i am right now. it sucks because those cat where a big stress releaver for me helped with a lot of my depression. and now there both gone. i feel your pain im sorry i know they are just cats but they understand you like no other human can. there least days both of them would rub my face to wake me up jus to lay down with them it sucked

Omg. Im so sorry! I have felt your pain. I used to have a dog named Katie but she started to have problems with her hips. Sometimes she would practically drag herself across the floor. eventually it was time to put her down. I also used to have a cat named pumpkin but he died by falling down the basement steps. I think about them everyday. But you don't have to say goodbye to Whity. you will see him later in heaven.

My grandparent´s cat was putted down in 2004 because she was diagnosed with bone cancer in the mandible. She can´t eat or drink so my grandma decide to put her down and stop her pain.
We have took her to an animal cemetery. She have now a little grave stone with a picture of her and a roseplant on the grave. Roses are her favorites. She was sniff at the roses in grandma´s garden.
So sorry about your beautiful cat :( you obviously loved him very much. It's so sad when pets have to go. I hope someone has shown you the Rainbow Birdge poem (it makes me feel better) xx
my cat died, she was old, VERY old. she had got put to sleep. Her name was goldie, all white cat with gold eyes, she had liven a very precious life. You will never forget it will get easy in time My Cat Lucky Died May 9th 2004 of liver Cancer at the age of 16 . When he was 3 My Mother saved his life after he got real sick almost died Forced fed him for days after eating something we think what the Vet told us I had to work but Mom did not work She looked after him and 6 Months later My mother died if Leukemia in 1991. Thanks too Mom Lucky lived another 13 years after her death it was hard to say Goodbye and Thanked My Mother in Heaven

My cat passed out for about 10 seconds, falling onto her food dish, and rolling onto her back with limbs straight in the air. She appeared to be awake, but kind of "out of it" and paralyzed. Could that have been a stroke? She did it after eating grass (indoor cats love grass once in a while). She's 16 now and I hate to think of the inevitable.

My cat died today too, he had to have had at least 900 lives with having his leg damaged by a pitbull and he still managed to permanently blind the mongrel, or when he got HIV, kidney problems, heart murmur, being deaf and very short sighted and having a stroke every other week still always got better... Recently however, nothing has been wrong with him. He was eating well and lively and passed away what had to have been an hour after I saw him last in his sleep.
RIP Garfield, best cat ever.

@CompleteAnimeFan -- Whitey's sister had a stroke, a small one -- actually called a saddle thrombus -- and she recovered quite well; I still have her today, almost 18 years old now. I was saying if Whitey had only had something like that, or if he only had a minor tumor -- one or the other -- I would have been willing to put him in the hospital for a while and then take him home. But he had both a huge stroke and a huge, painful tumor. With that combo, I knew it was for his best to let him go.

Im sorry about Whitey. My beautiful cat, Mitten died last week and she was only 12 and in good health (a paralysis tick got her). Losing her was so unexpected and emotionally painful.

Whitey had such a nice life with you, and so long he was loved. He wanted to say goodbye differently, but he couldn't at the time. All he could do was think about the care you had given him and hold on until he could sleep peacefully. He is so thankful for all that you did and what you meant to him. He loves you so much.

@nagasakti77 -- I still have Whitey's sister, Joony. She will be 18 years old next April! She is also diabetic but doing very well on her daily insulin shots. I only feed her low-carb food, I make sure she gets plenty of water, and she goes to the vet about every 4 months for a blood test and exam. She doesn't groom herself enough anymore and she won't let me brush her much, so she will now get her fur shaved down about once a year to control the matting. Gotta do what you gotta do!

I'm a "crazy cat lady"&animal lover lucky to have a kook of a husband that may love animals more than I do. I'd went through the same agony you had with my favorite kitty "Manny" in 2005. My vet, I swear the man is part feline, tried so hard to bring Manny back to his usual happy& healthy self but he just couldn't rally, An intestinal blockage& kidney tumor were found on x-ray, He was our 1st pet we ever had to put down& it hurt. More pets have gone on since but I still miss my Manny. >^._.^<

I'm so unbelievably sorry you had to go through with this. I've had my cat since I was 3 and he's starting to get health problems now that he's about 17 now. I can't imagine how much it's going to hurt to have to say goodbye. Just watching your video brought tears to my eyes. I hope these past few years have given you time to heal from your loss. We love our pets with all our hearts, and when it comes to their unfortunate last day/s, they know we loved them and can be proud that even though they passed, we can cling on to the memories of the good times, happiness and joy they gave to us and others. I have a 6 year old dalmatian, she is loved by me and the kids, she is part of our family and always will be, even though Whitey has passed, he feels no more pain, and as a fellow pet lover you have my deepest sympathy, RIP Whitey x

I feel ur pain big time. My cat that Ive had for nine years is about to die and man its killing me. We took her to vet yesterday and they say she'll have a month to live tops. I hope she makes it thru Xmas so I won't be so depressed, but shes lost a lot of weight and can hardly eat and hobbles around badly :'(

my mom resuce two of my cats, the first was Brookelyn, but my mom calls her Brooky, and we thought she had ring worm, but the other cat that is my favorite is TJ, a little boy kitten. If TJ died, I would cry just thinking about him, but for now, he's doing all right. Sorry for your lost.

I no how it is to loose an animal very close to you. I was once walking with my brother outside oh and a friend and it was a couple of days after i lost my cat. I hoped over this branch and while i was walking down the little strip of land i saw a cat skeleton and with calico fur around it and i knew exactly it was mine. And now that i have seen many sad cat videos i am crying and cant stop. But i want you to know to stay strong and never forget the moments you had with him.

I just hope people actually have the vet put their animal to sleep first then inject the other stuff. My mom had a horrible vet that injected her kitty of 18 years with stuff that made him scream before he died I WAS HORRIFIED AFTER SHE TOLD ME THAT AND SHE WAS TOO OF COURSe! I am posting this to make sure everyone tells their vet to put he animal to sleep FIRST! I assumed that was done all the time ):

@goodfoodgoodpeople -- Yes, Whitey was sedated first. In fact, he was so close to death, just the sedative slowed his heart to almost stopping. He was gone within seconds of receiving the euthanasia drug, so I think he probably was about to die without it. But we couldn't know that until after the fact. Anyway, yes, Whitey's final moments were very gentle and peaceful, thank you. :)

aww im sorry. i had a cat sence i was 6 i was 21 when he passed away. they really do become part of the family. his other brother passed away when i was 22 which i am right now. it sucks because those cat where a big stress releaver for me helped with a lot of my depression. and now there both gone. i feel your pain im sorry i know they are just cats but they understand you like no other human can. there least days both of them would rub my face to wake me up jus to lay down with them it sucked

god bless your heart. My cat was in the same situation. I will know if it was a tumor or stroke or both but she looked exactly the same. I think it was probably a tumor. I saw her have a seizure in front of me. My cat passed at 21 y/o. Videos like this always bring tears to me eyes because it hits so close to home. Omg. Im so sorry! I have felt your pain. I used to have a dog named Katie but she started to have problems with her hips. Sometimes she would practically drag herself across the floor. eventually it was time to put her down. I also used to have a cat named pumpkin but he died by falling down the basement steps. I think about them everyday. But you don't have to say goodbye to Whity. you will see him later in heaven.

It´s everytime sad when you lost such a friend.
But your Cat was ill. It´s hard but it´s better to put him down.
My grandparent´s cat was putted down in 2004 because she was diagnosed with bone cancer in the mandible. She can´t eat or drink so my grandma decide to put her down and stop her pain.
We have took her to an animal cemetery. She have now a little grave stone with a picture of her and a roseplant on the grave. Roses are her favorites. She was sniff at the roses in grandma´s garden.

my cat died, she was old, VERY old. she had got put to sleep. Her name was goldie, all white cat with gold eyes, she had liven a very precious life. I never forget when she allways climbs up on my bed. I am crying right now.she was a sweet cat she died when she was 12 years old. I will NEVER EVER forgot goldie.

You will never forget it will get easy in time My Cat Lucky Died May 9th 2004 of liver Cancer at the age of 16 . When he was 3 My Mother saved his life after he got real sick almost died Forced fed him for days after eating something we think what the Vet told us I had to work but Mom did not work She looked after him and 6 Months later My mother died if Leukemia in 1991. Thanks too Mom Lucky lived another 13 years after her death it was hard to say Goodbye and Thanked My Mother in Heaven

My cat passed out for about 10 seconds, falling onto her food dish, and rolling onto her back with limbs straight in the air. She appeared to be awake, but kind of "out of it" and paralyzed. Could that have been a stroke? She did it after eating grass (indoor cats love grass once in a while). She's 16 now and I hate to think of the inevitable.
