  • Let me say that there are moments, as a girl with relaxed hair, that I feel INCREDIBLY hatred toward having RELAXED hair. It happens often. It happens on almost a daily basis when I am not wearing braids or weave.

  • I watched them backwards but these videos are really awesome.

BTW: Where can I get the music I'm hearing? I LOVE it. It's so mellow.

  • I haven't seen any of the oyin vids but I'm gonna subscribe THEN watch. That's how much oyin videos appeal to me!

  • girl your hair the truth !

  • unicorn meat???? 0_o

  • When I wear my hair natural I always get compliments on how good it looks from other ethnic groups, but when it comes to black people, they have been negative thus far, unless they themselves are wearing thier own hair natural. I just ignore it and keep it pusing. I know it's all unconscience self hatred.

  • I didn't have support from my mother at first which was important but she told me the other day that she wants to transition to natural. She grew up in africa and had amazing natural hair till she permed it in her late 20's with something they called ghana perm LOL. She told me the healthiness and strength of her natural hair when she was younger was her motivation to transition. She also said everyone always went to the salon to get an EGG mask and her hair was always braided. Go figure lol

  • I think it's "crazy" that we have to have support groups, as if there is something wrong with natural hair. There aren't any support groups for people who relax their hair. We've got it all backwards. How is it that using toxic chemicals and giving people complexes about their hair, right, and choosing not to use chemicals and be natural, wrong? That just goes to show how deep this thing is. It gets under the skin...like lye.

  • Im loced and loving it and so does everyone around me. I never let anyone influence the many ways I have styled my hair, after all it is MY hair!

  • I love this! This is one of the reasons why my Queen City Naturals group exsist. To support those who need it. I can't wait for more vids.

  • I am blessed to have a husband that supports me in my decision to go natural. My youngens could care less. Parents ok with it too. Once a person has some family backing, I think it makes the transition easier.

  • Looking forward to more!

  • Her hair is pure awesomeness!!!!

  • Nice vid.

  • The first day I bcd everyone was n shock but even me...I remember looking n the mirror saying "wow! Wow!!! O my!! O well I gotta rock this!!" and when people first saw me they had the sane response but they know I am me 100% and when their mouth would open I would respond "it's okay mom my mom had the same look!" with a smile and laughter bc it's differ where I live I was one of the few people who went natural so I was expecting stares and ooh! Awe! So I was able to take it and let my hair grow

  • Unicorn Meat??

  • @fueledbychrist That's what I said...I guess it supposed to be imaginary meat or fake meat...kind of like, our perception of things and people are all in our head and we make it real...maybe i'm being too deep.

  • my wife has gone natural and she looks amazing! Of course she could wear a potato sack and still look amazing!

  • No one supports my natural hair, but that's ok cause i do! lol

  • @noodlejk30 we support it and love your hair!

  • I came to the store a few weeks ago when she was in there and i was in serious amazement of her fro!

  • Great Video!

  • I love this! My mum did NOT want me to go natural. I listened, and then like 4months later, I said "NEVER AGAIN!!!!!" I figured she needs to be happy that I was a good kid- in college, already a nurse, not pregnant, and never killed anyone. I was good. Natural hair would define me. She has NOW accepted my hair! YAY!

  • thanks for the encouragement. I wish I had heard these words years ago.

  • Awesome! There's so much more support now than there was when I went natural - back in the Fugee's era. Thanks to Lauryn Hill and her personal style I was able to make that move. Her being a pioneer (for me) and Lonnice Brittenum Bonner were the only pieces of debris I was holding on to in an ocean of the unknown. I didn't have the knowledge, community and friend support. There was a little article that popped up here and there w/ an herbal rinse or clay soap... this is a great series!

  • great video and interview!!

  • This definitely helped me. I've been natural for years now too, but this is my first time without locs or weaves or anything. Just me. It's been difficult facing my insecurities and judgements of others, but these suggestions were genuine and wise so I'm going to use them to get through this feelings. Thanks Oyin!
