Once in an interview, Sylvian described his brother Steve, as someone very intelligent, but with a certain natural innocence about him, a lack of malice and non-judgemental... and that's how I also perceive Sylvian; he's never sarcastic or rude and never criticize or make fun of others. Both brothers are genuine people and this trait reflects on their music. This world would be a much better place with more human beings like them...

Pointless, self indulgent garbage. "Red Guitar" re hashed again, and again, and again........compared with Mick Karn's body of amazingly original and challenging work. Sylvian, or should I say Batt, is quite possibly the most horrid little man in the history of music.
I was very disappointed with Blemish at 1st & couldn't have believed then that I would eventually, come to appreciate it so much. That said, I was more disappointed by Dead bees on a cake & still am. For me the least interesting album he's ever made as a solo artist. Am interested to know what you make of Manafon? Have only listened twice & felt somewhat underwhelmed, but definitely haven't written it off considering my Blemish experience!
@sherazman The "Sleepwalkers" album includes collaborations from the last decade only; this song is from 1996, I believe. Although, I agree, an album comprising all collaborations from any year would be fantastic, as all of them are beautifully done.
Blemish is David's finest work in my view. Uncategorisable, unique,deeply personal and as uncommercial as music can get without being pretentious. Such a rewarding,dark,bleak,spacious album. Pure genius!
I have followed david sylvian from the early 80,s. Always happy to hear his new songs and lyrics. I only wish more people would give him the light of day.
@DroffilcRenevac Know what you mean. I've never heard anything bad by him. I can't stomach all of his Japan stuff, like most of it. My favorite 2 Sylvian albums are Secrets of the beehive and gone to earth. Dead bees on a cake was good too, but I misplaced it a while back unfortunately. I thought he had a new album, but having trouble finding it online.

Get "Gone to Earth" and "Brilliant Trees"
Then get "Dead Bees on a Cake"
Then try his band called "Nine Horses"... that one is about two years old and it's a really satisfying album all the way through.
