The Importance of Prayer

"Prayer is important because if you don't hunger for the truth, you will be filled with the lies of the world."

Does that mean hunger for a preconceived notion of the "truth", which is accepted on faith alone? Or does it mean hunger for the "truth" which is demonstrated in the very nature of the universe around us?

If you consider mythology to be "truth" and the objective reality of the world we live in to be "lies", then there will forever be a gulf between you and men of reason.

We are all the children of God, you're right. So stop interpreting Jesus, the son of God, as something having to do with the invention of the trinity.

Read about the history of Christianity leading up to 300 years after Jesus's death and the Council of Nicea if you want to know where the trinity came from. What a distortion of Jesus's teachings!

One pair of hands actually helping is worth more than a million pairs of hands clasped in prayer. Prayer is an excuse to stay comfortably at home while feeling like you are helping others. Prayer is nearly always a substitute for getting involved. Or, in the case of praying for the sick, a substitute for common sense. Prayer with fasting is often effective, if you don't cheat on the fasting and if what you are praying for is weight loss!
