  • This used to be such a classic ride until they absolutely ruined it with the over the sholder head rests which are unnessary and make the riding experence - tragically sad!!!!!!!

  • hahaha 1:20 tats totally shows up Revolutions little loop

  • siempre me pregunto si a los que graban se les cae la camara en las vias del coche ese? osea seria algo super fatal!! :s

  • Comment removed

  • this was my first coaster wen i went to sixflags mm and wen the ride stopped i yelled IS THIS THING OVER I WANT TO GET OUT!!!!and everyone started laughing!

  • this looks like a pretty chill ride. ninja freakin makes u feel like ur gonna hit the polls -__-

  • Over the shoulder restraints have destroyed this ride for me. For decades it did not have them. Now, the hard plastic shoulder restraints bash your ears unmercifully. It really is a painful coaster to ride. I was there recently and this was the only coaster I refused to ride. I've ridden it probably over a hundred times and it's just too painful for me to ride anymore.

  • this ride was pretty cool well its one of my favorites

  • this ride was the best :)

  • when i was little i was dead scared to go on rollar coasters so when i was like 7 my dad made me go on this... bad idea dad bad idea XD

  • *flips* OH SHIT MY HEAD!

  • Nice vid, but all those trim brakes ripped the soul out of what used to be a great ride.

  • went on this last month

  • @killwize- there is a loop! They do need shoulder things

  • @ClaudiaGurl Actually, no. In the 70's and 80's when I was working there they DID NOT have the over the shoulder restraints, all they had was the lap bar and that was ENOUGH. The stupid california laws now require them now.

  • @makinmillions6 - oh okay then

  • lol at the people that are screaming on tatsu haha

  • There are so many things hindering this coaster, first and formost... STUPID California law! There is no need for over the shoulder restraints on this coaster, plain and simple!

  • @killwize u sound stupid..the shoulder restraints are whats holding u in...u would be the dumbass to fall out when it goes upside down...

  • this coaster was in national lampoon's vacation.

  • lol at 1:14 someone farted

  • the older coaster might not be as fast but they sure built up suspense and seemed to last longer

  • This ride used to not have over the shoulder harnesses.

  • On the loop u basically don't even feel a tummy tickle!:) but it's still great if u open ur eyes:)

  • ive never been to six flags so i want to get on this one first and i was wondering if u guys can tell me how the loop feels?

  • I love the sound of the chain lift on Revolution. It's a classic one, and it's really loud. Something about it makes it sound really neat.

  • Anybody ever actually ride this? It's a fun ride, but it hurts your ears like a bitch. My head kept going right and left and my ears kept hitting the safety thing on top, hurt my ears like a bitch.

  • This ride could be soo much better! Like those hills could have sooo much more airtime If they didn't have breaks on top of all of them!

  • I'm watching the movie "Rollercoaster" right now with George Segal and a young Helen Hunt. This coaster was featured at the end. Back in the 70's when it opened, they only had the bars at the waist, not over the shoulder like now. Plus, the trees weren't there....pretty cool how times change.

  • If I tryed to cross the tracks would I be killed by the train full of park visitors. you know like that employee in 1996.

  • 1:28, reac your hand to the left and you can smack Tatsu supports!!

  • Nice video. This was my first loop coaster too. Miss it when it only had lapbars though but still a fun ride.

  • @SCIONIZER my friend's dad use to go to this park and he loved that this coaster only had lap bars. he went back to it last week after not going for 25 yrs and he said that he got such a headache from the shoulder harness and that he would never ride it again.

  • I love it how it goes through the trees :D

  • the tatsu look's extreme to me.. b'cos of it high steel bar post and a lot of loop, pretzels and etc...

  • @Markjason20

I'm not American so I might not be right but I'm pretty sure it's tatsu.

  • @93knexcoaster1 it is Tatsu mate, your right!

  • @1;07 another roller coaster color in red.. what it is name?? anyone can tell me..

  • @markjason20 That was a flying coaster called Tatsu. It's the same one you see at 1:20.

  • @TheCoasterThrill wow...american and japanese roller coaster is the best extreme ride in world..

  • Not to be a downer or anything but thi wasn't the first rollercoaster with a loop...There were many other coasters before this with loops. They were in the 1930s, back to my point this would be considered the first "Modern Rollercoaster" with a loop.

  • @jjfrunner Yes. Add "first safe" to "first modern". The loop coasters in the 30's were not safe and did not stay open very long.

  • Hey wait, wasn't this the roller coaster shown in "National Lampoon's Vacation"?

  • Tame by today's standards, this coaster was The Big Kahuna back in it's day.

  • dont lap restaints still protect a rider from fallin off in a loop

  • @singerman96 not really. its better to have OTSR's cuz they secure you better than just lap bars

  • This was the famous Roller Coaster in the Final Episodes of the Series Wonder Woman. It can be seen in Episodes "Phantom of the Roller Coaster" parts 1 and 2.

  • I loved this ride, I just went to Magic Mountain. It was great the buildup for the first ever loop. They were very afraid about people being injured or blacking out on the loop. MM first loop is definitely a ride you need to at least have to go on once, much like goldrusher, what makes magic mountain unique is because it has a lot of first rollercoasters.

  • when i was there this ride sounded like it was gonna break! but it was just the brakes on the ride.

  • this ride is the bomb lol

  • i love thiss ridee [:

  • 1:21 xD random ppl screaming

  • haha My boyfriend filmed our ride on Revolution with his phone. I thought he would lose it on the ride. x)

  • it sucks

  • thz looks fun!

  • This ride is pure gravity g's.

Some guy left his cell phone on the ride and it stayed on the ride for 4 hours before being found

  • what was that yellow/orange ride next to it called?

  • @blkshade95 The yellow/orange ride next to it is called Tatsu. Its a huge flying roller coaster

  • @blkshade95 tatsu

  • You know what I loved about this ride is the vegetation has grown up around it. It actually makes it pretty cool like your shooting through a forest and hides what's about to come.

  • 1:17

ive never been to magic mountain but that coaster going on the loop with the people screaming would make me a teed bit more scared

  • ohh ndd thiss oneeaiintt scarryy forr shitt niiethherr!

  • I used to go to Magic Mountain all the time when I was a kid even before the Revolution was there. I remember going to Magic Mountain in 1976 when the Revolution first opened but I was too scared to ride it. I rode it the first time in 1978 when I went there for my Junior High School graduation.

  • my dad loved magic mountian but it changed when he grew up

  • wow look at tatsu in the backround flying and this rideis all like stop go stop go thats not real real interesting

  • My first roller coaster =]

I always hit up this ride first for old times sake.

    Good warm up ride too

  • 2:01

i wonder if it's never made it past that hill there. it slows down so much there and it really makes me wonder

  • this was my first ever roller coaster i ever went on when i was 11 now im 12

  • @09javyfresh09

this was my first loop roller coaster when i was 9, and i'm 22 now... jesus!

  • why does it suk darthdog something wrong with it

  • firt time i went on it i almosed peed in my pants. that loop got me scared.

  • Glad I wasn't the guy who got on after you. LOL.

  • omg this mah favorite ride at six flags man!!!

  • favorite!!!!

  • What a classic coaster. Always fun.

  • prob just scared...

  • Nice video

But why does it stops in the station

  • doesnt look scray, but i hear it is, cant wait

  • I love vids/pics that capture rollercoasters interacting like Revolution and tatsu do here. It's like they are good friends waving "hi" to each other lol.

  • bleh, these rides too boring already... nid more adrenaline and excitement

  • WOW! I love the part when it's about to do the loop. Then Tatsu comes down.

  • I have been on that roller coaster dozens and dozens of times! Great memories!

  • baby ride is this in the kiddy section

  • Most people could figure this out themselves, but usually when a coaster is over 50 feet tall it isnt in the kiddie section. Use your head

  • ok sorry didn't mean mean to say that i just didn't know because it dosent look scary

  • Haha, went there this spring, the line for this ride was 40minutes lol :P we actually waited... nothing better to do :O

  • Went there in the 70's and early 80's. Sure have built up alot there, (coaster close to it, and you used to be able to see most of the park

  • I think they had 5 or 6 coaster back then. Now they have 16 with a 17th on the way for 2010.

  • @Ryan120420 Now they have 18 opn the way for 2011

  • @Ryan120420 Now 18 with the Green latern

  • ugh i got a headache from this ride.

  • Very cool seeing how the ride has changed (scenerywise) since the movie "Rollercoaster" in 1977.

  • I was thinking exactly the same thing when I watched this - there was practically no brush at all back then.

  • fun ride

  • That 1st drop could trick ppl who r new 2 this ride because they may think that that curve is all 2 it, but no, the big drop comes. I would ride this if they replaced the shoulder harnesses. I would've thought that they would've done it by now.

  • its tatsu!! and this ride is babiesh it goes slow but it has a loop and its not scary AT ALL!!!!!!! but its fun!! but im gunna try scream cuz this was nothing to me..

  • I love the way this one goes through nature's scenery

  • It's so cool that Tatsu passed by. This ride is a-lot longer than I thought and is this ride really painful?

  • No. Except for the part right b4 u go through the loop @ 1:13.

  • oh gosh i love this ride!!!!¡¡¡™™ its the bomb in the world

  • Theres only one coaster that beat me up as bad as this one, T2 in Kentucky.

Its weird and sad because the Revolution used to be one of my favorite rides.

  • Is the voice at 2:17 saying, "Please do not sit or stand on any handrail?"

  • yeah i think so

  • What RollerCoaster is in the distance at 1:52? What kind of RollerCoaster is this?

  • There are actually two coasters. Visible right through the vertical loop is X2, which is an Arrow Dynamics 4th Dimension coaster (and one of only two in the world).

In the upper right, you can make out an Arrow Dynamics looping coaster, Viper.

  • Isn't that viper at 1:20 ??? If it is then how could it come this close to The Revolution when at 1:52 It looks like it is a mile away?

  • NO, the other coaster at 1:20 is a Bolliger and Mabillard flying coaster called Tatsu.

When you pass through the vertical loop, X2 can be seen above the treetops. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, you can make out part of the lift hill and one of the vertical loops on Viper.

  • What kind of coaster is Revolution?

  • Revolution is an Anton Schwarzkopf looping coaster.

  • tatsu at 1:20

  • That's where I see an interesting comparison. Tatsu is Japanese for "flying dragon," and thus it is clearly visible towering over that part of the park, wheras Revolution is almost totally hidden in the forests underneath Tatsu. Not to mention Tatsu would be what I'd call a hyper flying coaster since there's a 263 foot difference in height between the highest and lowest points on the ride.

  • i like this ride^-^although,i had no clue the rdie was put up on the exact date,1776,the day of the Revolution.Until someone educated me about that...lol!

  • That brake mechanism in the station is rather unusual -- a chain for a station brake. So they start the chain to get the train moving?

  • this was the first loop ride i went on its rlly nice

  • heyyyy everyone i went 2 six flags 4 GRAD NIGHT&i diiiiis iiis the fiirst riiiide iiii got on n iiiiiit iiiiiis fun&coooool diiiiiiiissss riiiide rocks

  • this looks boring but fun at the same time

  • Check out my channel, I just uploaded

Rollercoaster (1977) a film that used this roller coaster for one of the more dramatic scenes.

  • If only there was FEEL-O-VISION.... :(

  • i need some advice.... i really wanna to go on a loop rollercoaster.... but im afraid.... any advice?

  • to tell you the truth, I have been on hunderds of loops. (not hundreds of rides, just loops) This one was my first loop ride and I swear, I FEALT NOTHING. It is kinda like doing a flip underwater (without the water flying into your nose.) The first chance that you get to go on a loop ride, TAKE IT. Oh and btw, rite after I went on this ride 4 my first time, I went on like every other loop ride there. It feels amazing. So suck it up and RIDE!!!

    = )

  • @killert365 LOL that was my Impression when I went on the loop too.

  • @killert365 same here, but i went on california screamin in california adventure...i sucked it up because i knew that there was only one loop... just perfect for beginers.

  • @killert365 My story is exzacly like your, this is was my first loop ride, and it is like doing a flip underwater, and on the 14 of this month, im going there with my older sister whos scared of rollocoasters, km not going to tell her it has a loop on it, :D. then I will tell her once we r on the ride, that it does, well she has to ride it sometime in her life. :)

  • @killert365 do loops actually feel like nothing

  • @Blushes97 honestly for me, and probably a lot of other people, yes they feel like nothing. If you were to close your eyes during the entire ride you probably wouldn't know when the loop came. You do feel a little g-force, but that's just pat of their fun.

  • @Blushes97 but I'm just talking about normal, backflip loops. Tatsu has a dive loop (essentially a forward loop) you face so many G's its unbelievable. You definitely feel those!

  • Yes honestly I was a bit scared of going on loops. You think you might feel like falling out of your seat right? Or that the blood will rush to your head. But it's actually SO AWESOME... killer described it as doing an underwater flip without the water which is true. You dont feel discomfort, it's just super fun. Youll have to experience it yourself, I can't really describe it. Good luck!

  • dude you won't feel a thing unless u kinda put your head down..cause it tried the boomerang at knott's berry farm about 6 times so i was testing if puting your head down it is a painful.and i tried put my head down and it acually is more of a pain than putting head up(u won't feel anything)

  • boring as hell

  • At 1.20 you can hear, see and feel Tatsu.

  • Well done! This ride is to Magic Mountain what Cyclone is to Coney Island and Matterhorn is to Disneyland. A true classic.

  • i went on the same seat as you... and im 11... LOL! I ROAD IT 4 TIMES!! : )

  • first coaster on the ride list always!!!

  • This ride would be cool if it wernt for those damn over the shoulder restraints. When I rode it my head was just banging against it the whole time it hurt like hell. Worst ride in the park here!

  • Why did they replace the old wagons without shoulder restraints???

  • cause some fat lady fell out at the curve with the water

  • crystalblue346, i think you might be thinking of the incident when the guy fell out of the Superman:Ride of Steel coaster at six flags new england back in 2004.

Nobody from what i have heard, has fell out of this ride.

  • They were added when Six Flags as a company decided that all coasters that go upside down would have OTSRs.

No one has fallen out on this ride.

  • At kings island in ohio, ( i'm only 12 so don't act like i'm stupid and well okay just read ) they have this ride called Flight of Fear, and it goes upside down with no OTSRs...IT'S AWESOME. I love roller coasters. Son of beast is my favorite.

  • Ryan smells gross and whats OTSR's

  • But what of the Premier Rides launched coasters? From 2000 to 2002, almost all of them (Flight of Fear at Kings Island, Joker's Jinx at Six Flags America, Poltergeist at Six Flags Fiesta Texas) had their OTSRs replaced with conventional lap bars.

  • hi everyone! me and my family are going on a to six flags in 4 days for my sisters birthday. What are some good, fun, and thrilling rides that aren't to extreme!

  • haha a lil late but definitly scream and revolution and riddlers and gold rush

  • Hey everyone. I don't realy like roller coasters, but my school is going to MM for a field trip & I don;t know if I should go. But I I go I will go on this ride I guess. Is this ride scary for someone who doesn't like roller coasters?

  • no it is not ive been on it like 10 times and its not scary i used to be scared till i went to six flags and now i love dem and im only 12

  • I'm 14, and I think this ride is just OK because I do rides like X2 and Tatsu...

  • damn straight

  • this was the first roller coaster I have ever riden it was only last year I am only eleven but I have been on a lot of rides revalution collosus ninja deja vu the batman and gold rusher all in one month I went seven times last summer It eas so aswome

  • Omg ok so I am from Arizona im 13 and we go to Magic Mountain every spring and Summer, Hahaha when I was 9, I first tried this and I was screaming before the ride started I looked Retarded!

  • perfect shot when tatsu went right as you passed it

  • boring...

  • Yeah, I remember John Candy riding this in "Vacation" and I remember it in the movie "Rollercoaster"....this was at the very end...the mad coaster bomber guy tried to climb over the tracks to get away from the police and the coaster train hit him......lol....what a messed up way to die!!!

  • Excellent POV, an oldie, but a classic.

  • I remember seeing this coaster in the Movie 'Roller Coaster' back when it came out in 76/77 or whenever it was in sensoround where the theartre used to shake LOL. Back then this coaster seemed like the wildest thing ever now it looks so tame. Thanks for sharing.

  • this was my first roller coaster at six flags...it was great!!

  • I love this Rollercoaster...

  • This coaster was also featured in the final scene of "Rollercoaster" (1977)

  • Is the movie Roller Coaster any good? If it is, let me know. I really like seeing movies with either this ride or Colossus...

  • This ride is relaxing!!! THE SCENERY IS AWESOME!!!!

  • one of the greatest rides there so original and great pov dude

  • this is like one of the best rides there so original and great pov dude

  • I remember this ride was in the movie National Lampoons Vacation. I was suprised to see this ride and Colossus in the movie.

  • i gone there like a millon times

  • There a sumilur coster like this one in anihem called calforian scremin its alot faster then this one but this coster is my favorate becasue it was in 2 movies lampoons vaction and rollercoster if you have not seen thise moves go check them out asome movies

  • It's California Screamin', and it's just as fast, except a lot more lame.

  • I love it when they have to tell people to not sit or stand on the handrails, I find it humorous.

    Yet again, great vid!

  • iluv this ride

  • this is a good ride at night cause there are absolutly no lights in most of the ride and the tunnel is pitch black.

  • its cool how u can see tatsu and the people screaming

  • I wanna go here sooo bad. I'm a Great Adventure person now, but this place looks better.

  • SFMM has such great scenery!!

  • Yeah, forget the rides. The scenery is great! :D
