I was raised Christian. we went to church every sunday, but now im older and i dont go to church that much anymore, but i still have faith. Parents force this stuff into their kids because they think its the right thing for their children. Wouldnt you do the best thing for your kid? Kids dont have any sense of right and wrong and cant really make judgement. but as they get older, they can decide what to do if they really want to still have faith.
yeah you can have a faith in a higher being as an adult, but i think its much more worthwhile to explore other religions and see which one fits you. sticking with the one you are born with just because your parents "taught" it to you, is silly to me.
I would pick the religion I thought was right if I could find one that actually seemed prophetical. If there was a religion from 1000 years ago that preached something along the lines of "And the box beast will be created from steel and other materials and it shall speak only in language of 1's and 0's, and thereafter the box beast will be connected to the other box beasts speaking their language to us and giving their wisdom" then yeah I might think that religion had got something right.
what exactly are you implying I believe in? I'm an atheist. I have no belief in anything supernatural. I don't understand why you are calling me a moderate believer...
- Nothing. I am implying that the statement you made about exploring religions to find one that fits is an encouragement to looking to religion for an answer... a bad move no matter how you look at it.
"I don't understand why you are calling me a moderate believer..."
- Don't take it personal. I don't think your a moderate believer. I think that the statement you made represent moderate beliefs as they are held in todays society.
yeah your right. I should have said that people would do well to explore philosophy away from the religion they have forced on them as a child. Like bhudism. And more than that to be free to question which ever doctrine or philosophy they come to and disagree with aspects of it, instead of taking it as a whole and perfect truth. There are great things in scriptures, sadly its laced mostly with horrednous things. Thats how propaganda works, bits of truth interspersed with hi caliber BS.
If you think forcing faith on your child is "the right thing to do", you are delusional and completely unfit to be a parent - no more fit than a parent who would force drugs on a kid.

Yea. thats why im 19 years old douche bag. im Just. Stop bashing on religion just because its not your thing. Without religion, all of you would have no life. you spend your life hating. its my life, let me live it. shit.
Until religion stops fucking up the world I live in (which it has since its inception), I will not stop bashing it. You might not personally use religion to do anything harmful, but a hell of a lot of other people certainly do. Not to mention, there is no good reason to believe in religion - and if you think there is, I've got a bridge to sell you. Everybody's not going to "get along" if we believe different, conflicting fairy tales. Religion is obviously bullshit
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, YOU are bullshit. Religion isnt going anywhere no matter how much you hate it. and what you're basically telling me is that you hate it because of the people that use religion to cause harm. So go ahead and do your little protests, hippy. So long as there is Man on earth, there will always be relgiong, its human nature. You are the sheep that got lost.
Yeah- I'm the sheep. I'm not part of a pastor's "flock", so nice argument. Hippy? I'm an ardent capitalist, just like my father - who was in upper level managment at a Fortune 5 - and he's as strong of an atheist too. If you saw me in person you would have a hard time calling me a hippy. So I guess your dumb 19 year old ass knows something that we don't. We must be "lost". Oh yeah, and its also "human nature" to believe in something there is no evidence for. You're missing much needed logic.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
OOOOO DAMN FORTUNE 5. holy shit. you are so cool because you have money. and who said religion has ANYTHING to do with logic? its ABOVE logic which is why its so divine. watever do what you want rich boy. I know theres no sense talkin to a spoiled brat like you. bye now.
My point is - my father's obviously not a dumbass, and he's not religious. ABOVE LOGIC? I suppose you're ABOVE INTELLIGENT too? You're a fucking idiot. As far as me being spoiled is concerned - I'm 26, college educated, and I pay for everything myself. I suppose you could say I spoil myself - too bad I helped start too charities. Spoiled? Oooh I'm so embarrased my dad was smart enough to make a lot of money! I wish he was poor and religious! Then he'd understand things! You're a retard.
Haha - I'm SUCH a SPOILED BRAT. That really describes a guy that pays for all of his own stuff and works, on average, 60 hours a week. I suppose I should thank GOD for all that is good in my life, though - because clearly anything that works out can't be attributed to hard work, but the JESUS. Remind me to give jesus head later. I'll ride his dick all night long, pretending that my preacher actually believes the shit he says.
I may be an asshole - but at least I don't scare little kids with stories about how they'll burn in hell if they have pre-marital sex. And yes, I do hope I "get mine" for donating, on average, 5 percent of my income to cancer research. I suppose people putting money in a church's collection cup are doing much more than me to make the world better. To each their own, I guess.
Lol, that's true. There was one settlement by the Catholic Church that was over $100,000,000. Imagine if they actually used that money to do good for people.
It's a crime that these fuckers receive tax exempt status.
I never said, by the way, that I want religion to disappear - or believe it ever will. My big point is that all the relatively resonable religious people need to address the fact that by being affiliated with an organization with extreemists - they are supporting the extreemists. Furthermore, are you under the impression that your relgious leaders actually believe what they preach? If you are, you haven't thought this one out.
"So long as there is Man on earth, there will always be religion. It's human nature."
- Actually, it flies in the face of human nature, reason, and sanity. Religion is on dying ground as more people are waking up and starting to think critically. Hopefully, in the future, thought processes like those you yourself hold will go the way of the dodo bird...
I read his book and liked it. I thought he was an intelligent well thought human being. Then I saw his Ohio state shirt.

it's sheer stupidity, they're trying to falsely say they're in our position, and it's bullshit.
That's been going on before I know, but I think I've seen an increase in it lately.
I think in a bit they will wear themselves out, then we will enter a Golden Age

I was raised Christian. we went to church every sunday, but now im older and i dont go to church that much anymore, but i still have faith. Parents force this stuff into their kids because they think its the right thing for their children. Wouldnt you do the best thing for your kid? Kids dont have any sense of right and wrong and cant really make judgement. but as they get older, they can decide what to do if they really want to still have faith.
HipHopJun 3 years ago
yeah you can have a faith in a higher being as an adult, but i think its much more worthwhile to explore other religions and see which one fits you. sticking with the one you are born with just because your parents "taught" it to you, is silly to me.

wouldnt u pick the religion u thought was right anyway all religion seems silly 2 me
atheistindisguise 3 years ago
I would pick the religion I thought was right if I could find one that actually seemed prophetical. If there was a religion from 1000 years ago that preached something along the lines of "And the box beast will be created from steel and other materials and it shall speak only in language of 1's and 0's, and thereafter the box beast will be connected to the other box beasts speaking their language to us and giving their wisdom" then yeah I might think that religion had got something right.

Religious fundamentalists betray reason, moderate believers ( i.e., intelligentfalling ) betray reason and faith equally.
- Richard Dawkins
randomblink 3 years ago
what exactly are you implying I believe in? I'm an atheist. I have no belief in anything supernatural. I don't understand why you are calling me a moderate believer...
intelligentfalling 3 years ago
"what exactly are you implying I believe in?"
- Nothing. I am implying that the statement you made about exploring religions to find one that fits is an encouragement to looking to religion for an answer... a bad move no matter how you look at it.
"I don't understand why you are calling me a moderate believer..."
- Don't take it personal. I don't think your a moderate believer. I think that the statement you made represent moderate beliefs as they are held in todays society.
randomblink 3 years ago
yeah your right. Thats how propaganda works, bits of truth interspersed with hi caliber BS.
intelligentfalling 3 years ago
In my opinion, it should be against the law to discuss religion with any child under the age of 12... Santa and the Tooth fairy are bad enough...
randomblink 3 years ago 3
I agree with that.
intelligentfalling 3 years ago
If you think forcing faith on your child is "the right thing to do", you are delusional and completely unfit to be a parent - no more fit than a parent who would force drugs on a kid.

Yea. thats why im 19 years old douche bag. im Just. Stop bashing on religion just because its not your thing. Without religion, all of you would have no life. you spend your life hating. its my life, let me live it. shit.
HipHopJun 3 years ago
Until religion stops fucking up the world I live in (which it has since its inception), I will not stop bashing it. You might not personally use religion to do anything harmful, but a hell of a lot of other people certainly do. Not to mention, there is no good reason to believe in religion - and if you think there is, I've got a bridge to sell you. Everybody's not going to "get along" if we believe different, conflicting fairy tales. Religion is obviously bullshit

HipHopJun 3 years ago
Yeah- I'm the sheep. I'm not part of a pastor's "flock", so nice argument. Hippy? I'm an ardent capitalist, just like my father - who was in upper level managment at a Fortune 5 - and he's as strong of an atheist too. If you saw me in person you would have a hard time calling me a hippy. So I guess your dumb 19 year old ass knows something that we don't. We must be "lost". Oh yeah, and its also "human nature" to believe in something there is no evidence for. You're missing much needed logic.

OOOOO DAMN FORTUNE 5. holy shit. you are so cool because you have money. and who said religion has ANYTHING to do with logic? its ABOVE logic which is why its so divine. watever do what you want rich boy. I know theres no sense talkin to a spoiled brat like you. bye now.
HipHopJun 3 years ago
My point is - my father's obviously not a dumbass, and he's not religious. ABOVE LOGIC? I suppose you're ABOVE INTELLIGENT too? You're a fucking idiot. As far as me being spoiled is concerned - I'm 26, college educated, and I pay for everything myself. I suppose you could say I spoil myself - too bad I helped start too charities. Spoiled? Oooh I'm so embarrased my dad was smart enough to make a lot of money! I wish he was poor and religious! Then he'd understand things! You're a retard.
NJRJC 3 years ago 4
Haha - I'm SUCH a SPOILED BRAT. That really describes a guy that pays for all of his own stuff and works, on average, 60 hours a week. I suppose I should thank GOD for all that is good in my life, though - because clearly anything that works out can't be attributed to hard work, but the JESUS. Remind me to give jesus head later. I'll ride his dick all night long, pretending that my preacher actually believes the shit he says.

You're an asshole is what you are. and you'll get yours someday.
HipHopJun 3 years ago
I may be an asshole - but at least I don't scare little kids with stories about how they'll burn in hell if they have pre-marital sex. And yes, I do hope I "get mine" for donating, on average, 5 percent of my income to cancer research. I suppose people putting money in a church's collection cup are doing much more than me to make the world better. To each their own, I guess.
NJRJC 3 years ago 7
Actually, most of the money in the collection cup goes to the settlements of pedophilia cases.
Cat983 3 years ago
