He was amazing before his voice changed, but I wouldn't trade his voice NOW for the pre-puberty voice. Many child singers don't turn to a pro singer in adulthood after their voice change. But David is lucky to have a gorgeous tone and one in a million voice. Moreover, his musicality is amazing. Prob. he is the best male voice in the business right now.

Yes it's David. He was a chubby 11 year old and they played some of this video on Idol when he talked about singing for the Season 1 Idols. He looks about the same as in his first year of Star Search performances, most of which are here on YouTube. I especially love Fallin and I Surrender in those.

This was before she won AI...and she didnt look like it was uncomfortable for her...why would it be? Some contestants from AI have had good careers. No denying that fact. Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest names in country music. Clarkson has had several big hits. As has Daughtry. Some others have sold a lot of records, but no big hits. Perhaps a decent song that got played some, but nothing you'd call a hit. Maybe Im forgetting someone. :)

Most of the contestants have been doing what all other music artists do, they just haven't been fortunate enough to receive the right exposure or meet the right people. The contestants on AI go through more than most music artists because they have to win a major and very competitive competition. Daughtry is by far my favorite winner, and he's sold millions of records and established himself and his band as one of the biggest names in rock. I don't judge people by where they came from or if they won a contest, I judge the music. Idol contestants don't get handouts. The winner gets a guaranteed recording contract. The others get nothing. If they were good they might get offered one or more record contracts because some company is willing to take a chance on them. Then they sink or swim on their own.
