To be honest i'm getting pretty sick of seeing people put the Thriller album on a pedestal and not only treating it like it was MJ's best album but his only album. MJ may not have topped Thriller in sales but artisticly i think he topped it years ago. Bad, Dangerous and HIStory are better albums than Thriller in my opinion.

Everyone is comparing Bad to theThriller Album. Me personally I love all of Michaels Albums. Each album is unique in it's own way. Off the Wall Paved a new direction for MIchael in his career. Off the Wall showed a more mature Michael and also showed a different range in his vocal ability. Off the Wall started the ball rolling for this music Icon. Miss you MJ.

Well in ALL My Favorite Album is (DANGEROUS) I Feel that one Really took More risks than "BAD" and it also sold More Copies! and the Concerts for (DANGEROUS) got Bigger! Streetwalker is one of my favorite songs. I think he could have worked on it a little more, and it would have been a major hit, i mean already like this was a amazingly great song, and i think it is original and that harmonica solo was kick ass. This was a man with pure genius talent in his blood. Michael wrote, and arranged in BAD such amazing masterpieces, and could have tossed Thriller as his second best album, but people critic him in his looks not his genius talents.

on no, I am not, I know MJ composed, arranged, and wrote, and Sampled at home Billie Jean, Beat It, PYT, and Wanna be starting something. Amazingly done.. actually he composed and arranged 6 of the songs, and wrote 4 by himself. Mainly the bigger hits were his The song Thriller was an idea MJ had, but since he was a Jehovah Witness he had someone else write the concept an idea. So in his own way he wrote that song like a story board, he co directed those Music videos and the choreo- was amazing

@boyxdance if you think beat it is hard rock and billy jean/thriller/pyt is hard funk and that the album wasn't pop in it's time...then wow..Bad IS too synthetic sounding, not "open" enough to be more than superficially satisfying. Prolly has more to do with that time in MJ's life than a direct critique of him or the album. I actually do quite like the "sledgehammer" sound of speed demon, for instance, but do feel that the album could've used a bit more warmth...like maybe that duet with Prince?

thriller as a whole album may be considered a rock album or a pop album (popular music album), but rock is a better description, because rock is a broad genre that includes the black rock (soul, funk, etc) and the white rock (hard rock)
