  • I hit him, and colors and view changed..., fuck...

  • oh, wops, thought its the Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM

  • 16:10? Isnt the Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM 16:9??

  • I have this monitor and I don't know what you're talking about when using an HDMI device. I used this monitor to play my PS3 for a few months before getting a 32" HDTV and the image was 1920x1080 centered on the monitor with black bars along the top and bottom. Same goes for my 360.

  • has this monitor for 2 years, been great buy the osd buttons dont work and are faulty

  • go for the 2494 hs

    the best syncmaster

  • can you hook up your xbox 360 with this screen?? i hops you respond ;P

  • Yes, you can hook up your 360.

  • but how do i fix the sound? i mean do i need to hook it up with also an computer to get the sound??

  • As long as you us HDMI, the sound will go through the built in speakers (on the monitor) .

  • hey, Oakkiller77 how is the sharpness of the text on this display? is there any color hues or fuzziness?

please respond as i am looking to purchase this monitor.

  • The sharpness is very good. The color seems accurate and looks very vibrant compared to some other displays of the same age. There is not any "fuzziness". The only complaint I have with this monitor is that the backlight bleeds a tiny bit around some parts of the side. It is only noticeable when the screen is completely black.

  • @mr931126

You can also use the VGA port to plug your 360 in if the HDMI port is used. Then you just need an adaptor that converts the Red + White audio-cables to a single 3.5mm phone jack. Then plug that into the 3.5mm input to get sound.

That's setup I use. DVI for PC, HDMI for PS3, VGA for Xbox 360 (also Wii later)

  • this is an office monitor. Nobody is going to play XBAWX on it.

  • Well, to each there own.

  • .. xbawx... omg.. .. noob

  • ahahahahha pause at 0:01 :D

  • ok my buddy gave me a syncmaster 940t for free cause it didnt turn on. the led blinks a little then it turns off. then it repeats until you turn it off. what do you guys think? power supply? fuse? i got it for free, now how do I fix it?

also, whats DVI? How could I use it and how can I use the two usb ports on my monitor? what are they for? Total newb questions but hey at least i can admit im totally oblivious to this. Thats why i come to the pros right here on youtube lol

  • DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. The two USB ports are to be used as a USB hub, there is a third port (the "D" shape / "printer USB"), you run a cable from that port to the computer.

As far as the problems that you were talking about, the only thing I can think off of the top of my head is to make sure that you are on the right video input source. Good luck!!

  • Hi, i bought a Syncmaster 2494HM a few weeks ago. Nice monitor but i have 1 problem with it. Let's say the monitor looks a little "dirty". Some people say it's some kind of coating they put on their monitors, anyone here has the same problem? I find it kinda annoying, wish there was a solution :(

  • On my samsung I have noticed that when it is turned off that the screen looks like it has a odd film on it. That makes it look and feel a little different from most LCD monitors.

But when I have the monitor on I don't see it anymore.

  • Just to add onto my earlier comment.

But a reason it may seem to look dirty is that it doesn't have a glossy look to the screen.

  • That's just a matte finish so it doesn't have glare/reflections. But I don't get it when you said it looks and feels different from most LCD monitors?

  • It seems to me that the screen has a rougher feel to it than my other LCD monitors. I mainly notice this when I am cleaning them.

  • i have this monitor `one year, and i cant say anything wrong about him. Is the best product of monitors iv ever seen. I want to find this one, and i found it. He have only positiv sites. Love this monitor!

  • I have had this monitor for close to a year now and the quality is great. A couple of months ago I got blu-ray for my machine and have been watching the movies in the 1080p resolution and I have not noticed any problem with the picture being stretched in any way. Also I play COD4 with this monitor and the picture quality is great and I have not noticed any picture lag while playing the game. I would recommend this monitor to anyone.

  • do you play the games on the xbox 360?

  • I don't have a xbox 360.

Which I was making that comment more towards the people that are going to be using it for strictly computer use. Considering you will get a higher resolution when you play the computer games and better quality.

  • Whats the best gaming moniter thats affordable?

  • this one is one of the best

  • @VultureCulture2000X also better then Samsung Syncmaster BX2450 ?

  • @HenkSpankK i think they are pretty much equal, but the BX has 2 HDMI inputs instead of one. therefor the 2493 has an DVI input. The quality of the picture should be the same though

  • @VultureCulture2000X thanks man u rock

  • @HenkSpankK

thanks ;). Just want to be kind

  • Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW - LCD-scherm - TFT - 24

  • mine came with a dead pixel :)

  • The samsung dealer i took it from tould me that I caould return it if in the first 3 days any dead pixels appeared (nothing appeared for me), so I hope it's the same with urs (samsung dealer), so u can return it and exchange it.

  • hey, just about to buy one of these and i wanted to ask if this is brighter than the apple cinema display?

    thanks

  • It is about the same, I would say that this monitor is a tad bit brighter then the cinema display. Sorry for the late response back.

  • Thanks for the info! Is this a good gaming monitor?

  • Your Welcome, It is not the best gaming monitor, but I love it for gaming.

  • r u sure that this doesnt have a 1:1 pixel mapping option? so that it wouldnt stretch ur 1080p stuff (but u would get black bars if it does 1:1 pm)?

  • Yes, I am sure. From what I have looked into, there is no way to have 1:1 pixel mapping (with the black bars on the sides).

  • thanks for the info dude! :D damn nice monitor u got there still! :D

  • Thanks!

  • it has audio in and out? no way i would never expect that for a fucking monitor, god how did u afford this u obviously have rich parents

  • I have a yard work / computer repair business witch brings in a good amount of money. I bought everything in the video.

  • what r u talkin' about? most PC LCD monitors have a aspect ratio of 16:10. So no, they don't look like magic. they look stretched. unless that's what you like..

  • If you are serious about gaming, I would just recommend buying a 1080p LCD tv (16:9). Like your saying most computers are of a 16:10 ratio, so your almost always going to run into a conflict with the image.

  • ..if you're serious about gaming you should be going for a Sony GDM-FW900 or some other high-end CRT. You can just get an HDMI -> VGA adaptor if you're planning on using it with one of those shiny new, overrated terribad consoles or for HDTV, not to mention the desktop real estate you get at 2304x1440 (at a decent refresh rate too). LCD isn't worthy of replacing CRT. You've gotta make a tradeoff between picture quality and performance, when you could just take a cheaper CRT that gives you both.

  • I have heard this from a couple other people too, but I prefer LCD's. It comes down to personal preference.

  • If you're not playing any really fast games, or you're not playing competitively I guess it's not so important, to the average player a few ms probably won't mean much, so I guess it does come down to personal preference. Some people prefer the LCD "look" and think CRTs look blurry, other people think the opposite. But if you're really serious about gaming, at a competitive level, you should look into a CRT. Sony (or relabelled SGI/HP versions) GDM-FW900 and CPD-520/P are a safe bet.

  • so u cant get 1080p without having the image stretched yeh?

  • Correct.

  • it's not good 24 inch monitor because most of 24 inchers already have aspect ration 16:9 so Xbox looks just pure magic....

  • how is that bigger than 17'' ? i'm gonna buy this 1 and jump from 17'' am i insane?

  • If you want to have a ton of space on your screen, then go for it. I am very glad I bought it because I can have several things opened at once without having to switch between them.

  • thanks ..

    i'll get one soon :D

  • Sweet, you will enjoy it.

  • full hd?

  • Yes, with the right settings, it will produce full 1080p HD.

  • just bought it :)

  • Congrats!

  • so should i consider buying this for my ps3? or will the games look not as good?

  • If you will only be using this for your PS3, then I would considering a 32-37 inch LCD tv (1080p). But this screen will still look very nice (as long as it is configured right, at stock settings it will look bury, It will be "squeezed" on the sides, an circle will look more like an oval). I don't mind the way it looks, it still looks very clear. I will have a video on what HDMI consails look like on the screen coming out pretty soon.

  • lol i have the same moniitor and laptop

  • cool, they are both very nice

  • Cool, thanks!

  • THX for review :)

  • Your Welcome!

  • i read this doesnt have 1:1 pixel mapping, do you happen to have a full hd tv that you can compare it to?

i wanna see how the monitor handles the scaling on 1080inputs like ps3/360 or a bluray movie

  • wow looks awesome! so dis is cheaper than you buy a lcd tv? and if you play(me ps3) the cpu should on too??? and how much did you pay too grab that samsung???? i might get it...and is the resolution is like on other lcd tv?????ty for vid

  • I got this for about $450 (U.S.). As far as size, this would be a little more expensive or about the same as a 24 inch lcd tv. An lcd tv that small probably is only 720p, not 1080p like this screen displays in.

  • oohh....so this is more expensive....i wanna play ps3 on hd...i just got my sdtv my tv b4...

so you play yo 360 on that monitor and is the cpu is on while you play??????

  • It is a little more expensive (about $50) but it is what ever suits you best. If you spend more time watching the tv then using the computer, then get a lcd tv, but if you spend more time on the computer, get this monitor. What do you mean by CPU, if you are referring to a computer then yes, my computer is on while i play. I just switch the screen back and forth.

  • oohh...tnx!!! u rock!!

  • Resolution is not as good as some high end HDTV, but is better than those vizio and cheap brand lcd tv. You can do samething as hdtv except can't watch tv, no big deal there's tv tuner out there for monitor that don't had pc. But you could just use this monitor for all it one, pc, tv, console.

  • heyy...ive got the same monitor and also hook my xbox 360 up to it via hdmi.

do you play gta4 on it....it is incredibly blurry and almost unplayable because of it...just wondering if you had the same problem?

  • I had that problem at first, but I went into the setting and made it so that instead of stretching the image, it will fit all the pixels onto the screen. the only downside to this is that it is a little out of proportion (a circle looks like an oval)

  • ok thanks. which setting did you use do get that option? thanks again :D

  • Ya. First hit the menu button on the monitor. Then scroll down to "Setup" hit the enter / source key on the monitor then scroll all the way down to "AV Mode" (you wont see it at first but keep scrolling) then select off. Then you should see it "zoom out". Note: make sure you have the xbox on and the monitor set to HDMI when you do this. Hope this helps!

  • Is the picture while you play Xbox 360 with HDMI cable bad or blurry? Or is the picture good like on usual 1080p LCD TV's?

  • It looks great, but the racial is off, so a circle looks a little more like an off circle, it is not bad. I am picky, and it does not bug me.

  • You Welcome, make sure you have the display set to the setting where you can see the Xbox, and make sure the Xbox is on.

  • Nice review.

  • Thanks!

  • yea they look awesome mate on that screen !!

I'm using my PS3 for it

  • i have the same screen mate.

its a verry nice setup !

i'm using it with my PS3 and dell xps 420

    5/5 on that mate ! ;-)

  • Sounds like a great set-up! I wish I could watch Blu-ray movies, I bet they look great on that display
