  • A homesick Texas girl used to sing this to her new baby (me) in the 50's. Dad a young second lieutenant was stationed in Japan and mom had never been out of Texas. I bet this is the version that first struck her fancy. Thanks for posting it

  • I first heard this done by Patti Austin and I've been looking for that version ever since. She does it much faster, puts a jazz spin on it with a little soul rubbed in to give it flavor - it's an awesome version, if you find it please post it?!?!?

  • this song stucked on my mind. awesome.

  • It means they got killed by a train.

The duo wasn't too smart, washing the food in Dux and Luz (old soap brands).

Great song. Asleep at the Wheel does a great job at it too.

  • I love this song but what in the world does it mean??????

  • About a Navajo and a Pinto pony...they would make frijoles, went walking around the railroad tracks looking for a "cheap vacation" and I think they're taken out by the train. It says they walk along the track, didn't hear the whistle and they never came back, and then there was no more dough for the people passing by.

  • thanks for posting this...my grandfather used to sing it to me.

  • Great song.
