so essentially you are trying to match the peaks of the kick and snare to the grid marks on the very top of the screen right? The sample I have is Come by Lemon Jelly, 2 bars on drums..snare falls on beat 2 and 4 of each measure. I should be trying to line up the peaks in the audio track with the grid..is that correct?
@sondico88 - Well as long as the snare falls on beat 2 and 4 of the track sampled then yes. I see you have a drum kit in your pic so I'm guessing you can count measures. Generally as you know the snare falls on 2 and 4 (western music) so you are probably all set as long as you do this.
@michaelromani alright cool. I figured it out then lol. My issue now is when get a sample (purple track) to the tempo I need and try to assign to a key on my midi keyboard I lose the tempo. I can't figure out why
@michaelromani Space Cruiser Pt. 2, definitely the illest track. Do you by any chance know if there's some software like soundflower except for PC? Thanks.
@Pwegnerdog44 It is on the same tool bar as the "play" and "record" buttons. I think it's all the way to the right. Google it if you can't figure it out.
@DoctorHpoduction GB has one major problem. You cannot fine tune the metronome. Some tracks might be 99.5BPM but on GB you can only choose 100BPM or 99BPM. That's the biggest problem. The software you use might also not be getting such a defined BPM. If it doesn't mark it out into tenths or hundreths then my guess is that the program is not to precise either.
@DoctorHpoduction ......Continued. If it is music played by people playing live instruments then you have to realize that no ones rhythm (except Quest One) is as solid as a metronome and that the BPM will change throughout the song. It might start at 88BPM, go to 91BPM in the middle then back down to 86BPM by the end.
@yoGregg0ry hahaha. You just loop it and try different bpms until it works. This just happened to be on the right bpm when I started. Very randomly of course.
If anyone wants some free drum loops let me know, I have loads in the link on my video 'How to mix drums in Garageband FREE DRUMS DOWNLOAD' Ryan from AIA
I've been playing around with this, but have run into an issue when I try to add my newly created loop to the library. I see in your video that when you go Edit > Add to Loop Library...you rename the loop; underneath name, it has Type: Loop or One-shot; however, I cannot change it from one shot, which means that if I add the loop to my library, I will not be able to change the bpm if I use it in a different recording. I have played with settings, but can't get this option to work. Any ideas?
@goatheadthemonolith YOu have to record at least a one bar loop. The recording you do, make it either one bar, two bars, four bars 8 bars and so one. Don't do only a portion of a bar, it will make it so you can only choose one-shot.
beats hot man.. that jamesbrown "ugh" in thea is classic. haha.. but god i cant stand using garageband with beat making. i use Reason for that. but its not about the DAW.. its all in the ingenuity. good post man
@wuanjeffers - It took me about a year and a half to figure out how to get to this point with it, so it def isn't easy to figure out. But once you do it can create some serious music.
@michaelromani - yea i feel you man. and its always nice to have a wide range of DAW's at your fingertips. you be sampling the right way though man.. ALOT OF THESE youtubbers is practicing to there idol rather than be one all there own. KEEP MAKIN THAT MUSIC MAN!!!
@sonicruse I get pretty obsessed with making music so once you toy around with something enough you start to figure out how to make it work the way you want. I'm sure there are things you could show me too. I'm far from an expert.
