And I, as much as I can understand that the Japanese wanted to enliven the performance (as there was any such need here), am dissapointed as for the greater part od the clip you see the dancers even close up, Whatever for? And they hardly show Agnetha and Frida. Or the boys for that matter. Really annoying.
Everything about Abba is always wonderful. Tiger is one of my favorites by them. If you look closely, the girls' mics even match their costumes. Talk about color coordination!
Good point. The 70's, much like the 80's, was an "art for art's sake" era. You weren't supposed to morph your personal into identity into the song/music.
Today (generation text) wears their music like it's "who they really are". And that very relationship to music, in itself, is truly sad and embarrassing. I really hope that one day they will "get that".
the dancing during the first song isn't so bad, but the second one.. frankly, it's god awful, particularly the male dancers. a tragedy of hilarious proportions.
Frida's pose at the start of Tiger makes it all better though.
"abba must have almost pissed their pants laughing when they first saw those dancers!!! lol!! I know i almost did!!" -Dutchy023
Haha, exactly how I was feeling, but it was all good entertainment. The part where the guys are throwing there arms up and down during the Tiger, hilarious! They remind me so much of Chris Katan :P
lol, you're right.. EXACTLY how I would imagine Katan dancing. In fact, the dancing throughout Tiger reminds of some comedy skit they would have done on SNL or SCTV. This is just about the most unintentionally funny thing I've ever seen.
Shameless, yes. But notice how feminine the dancers are! A far cry from the totally unnatural hyper-controlled monkey-dancers today. Much more enjoyable to watch.
Very classy!Beautifully staged and choreographed. Those costumes remind me of something Catwoman could wear. Me-ow! And doing "Tiger" on Japanese TV, what could be more appropriate? Good sound quality, too. Thanx 4 posting.
The dancers are brilliant and so are the songs, really uplifting. Thank you!

at the time it was normal to lipsynch... maybe you can't remember or are too young to remember... but it was common.

Viva Japan! This is my favorite ABBA clip. Frida strikes poses like never before!

Yes on the lip synch...identical to the album recording. The dancing is almost as awesome as the finale in Xanadu with Olivia Newton-John!

did they lyp synch?

i love how their voices add to eachother =)
the dancers in the second part make me wonder if they broke a few bones while doing that performance though ^^;;

i think this is the genius of abba that they knew how to mix in with the culture that they were in. the way they dance with those guys

Look at Frida when they shift to "Tiger"... My God, she's Modesty Blaise!!!

Sorry, I would rather watch abba than the weird dance. Cool songs though

I'm SHOCKED at all the negative comments on this video.
Three words are all you need to know:
Agnetha. Frida. Catsuits.
All else, Japanese dancers included, is inconsequential.......

Oh I love this! It's so funny. How did they manage to keep a straight face?? Nice sparkly catsuits though...

How? It was the 70's. You had to be there to get it. No, we're not proud of it, but man it was fun.

That's Me reminds me of Carrie, the classic horror movie. Both the song and the movie, ironically, was released in the same year, 1976.
The performance was great, ABBA and the dancers!
