I discovered the book Lone Survivor 4 days ago.. i've read 260 pages in the past 3 days. i got to the part where Marcus was talking about them being attacked and SEAL Matt did a heroic life risking thing just to save his team. and i can usually keep my composure, but i almost shed into tears at work reading what this guy did. i am signing up for the army this month, and. if i can be HALF THE MAN, half the soldier this man was, i will be happy. R.I.P and even though idk you Matt, you are my hero.

How do you thank a man who went though BUDS training to become a SEAL and then die in a heroic battle where his team was outnumbered 32 to 1 (Think about those odds, that was 150 Taliban against 4 SEALS). You thank them by NEVER FORGETTING their story and sacrifice for our country!!!! That four man SEAL team proved something to the Taliban and Al Queda. Even if our SEALs are outnumber with a 32 to 1 advantage....The enemy still has to worry about being taken out. God Bless our Navy SEALs!!!

I wish Cindy the best! I cried watching this tribute. It's sad especially watching it after I finished reading Lone Survivor which Axe wanted Marcus to stay alive to tell Cindy that he loves her. It's so heart breaking.
For what it's worth, I can't help but feel both sorrow for the widow and pride in such a manner that makes me sleep a little better at night knowing people like Matt are doing there best so I can enjoy my wife and three girls. I think they found Matt's body far away from where they thought he'd been killed, holding his pistol with spent ammunition. Meaning he still retreated and returned fire as he was being shot. Reminds me of the Delta snipers in Blackhawk Down.
I am the father of a special needs child -- I know for a fact that my daughter has more opportunities and lives in a more forgiving and accepting world because of the debt that Axe, Danny and Mikey paid; what a bunch of guys - as a father I cannot thank them enough --- if my little girl had been born in Iraq; she would face much different circumstances.... she likely would have been killed at birth or at best; raised to the point that she could have been fitted for a bomb vest...
Let's change our constitution to require anyone who is in an elected federal office to have combat experience. Pehaps then they would not send our best into a war.

I wish Cindy the best! I cried watching this tribute. It's sad especially watching it after I finished reading Lone Survivor which Axe wanted Marcus to stay alive to tell Cindy that he loves her. It's so heart breaking.

For what it's worth, I can't help but feel both sorrow for the widow and pride in such a manner that makes me sleep a little better at night knowing people like Matt are doing there best so I can enjoy my wife and three girls. But rest assure, anyone that wishes my family, friends, and neighbors will bear the brunt of everything I can throw at them. Thank you for your service Matt.

I think they found Matt's body far away from where they thought he'd been killed, holding his pistol with spent ammunition. Meaning he still retreated and returned fire as he was being shot. Reminds me of the Delta snipers in Blackhawk Down.

I am the father of a special needs child -- I know for a fact that my daughter has more opportunities and lives in a more forgiving and accepting world because of the debt that Axe, Danny and Mikey paid; what a bunch of guys - as a father I cannot thank them enough --- if my little girl had been born in Iraq; she would face much different circumstances.... she likely would have been killed at birth or at best; raised to the point that she could have been fitted for a bomb vest...
