I uploaded this video a couple years ago. While I think McKenna makes some good points in this, the images I set to the audio are childish and offensive, over-simplistic and absolutist. As of now, I see a lot of good in religion, especially Christianity, and other ideologies like existentialism. Additionally, while I abhor authoritarian scientism, I can't take the progress from the scientific method for granted either. Christianity, existentialism, and science are very positive advancements.

If I were to stand on the premise that the Bible is the word of God, then I would also have to view God as imperfect, contradictory and evil. There are also groups that respond to this by distributing information that informs students that it is okay to be homosexual, but that doesn't tell people to "participate" in gay sex with friends any more than telling a child it is okay to be heterosexual would encourage "participating" in heterosexual sex with friends.

The 25% heritability I mentioned earlier is the same as height, meaning there is a huge amount of variability, human choice, that determines how tall one is, but can you actually "choose" how tall you want to be? I uploaded this video a couple years ago. While I think McKenna makes some good points in this, the images I set to the audio are childish and offensive, over-simplistic and absolutist. As of now, I see a lot of good in religion, especially Christianity, and other ideologies like existentialism. If I were to stand on the premise that the Bible is the word of God, then I would also have to view God as imperfect, contradictory and evil. Rather than jump to that conclusion, I simply realize the Bible is imperfect and turn instead to the tools provided me, none of which compel me to believe any religion's claims, but to reject them all.

There are also groups that respond to this by distributing information that informs students that it is okay to be homosexual, but that doesn't tell people to "participate" in gay sex with friends any more than telling a child it is okay to be heterosexual would encourage "participating" in heterosexual sex with friends.

The language used was far more descriptive than " participate " but whatever..as for Christians doing the things you claim, I would say that they are not Christians tho I do expect they would definitely be against homosexuality & IMO, rightfully so. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a perversion and should NOT be encouraged..I don't see how it could be viewed any other way.

@InsideOUT37 There's the lense of religion, and the lense of science. The 25% heritability I mentioned earlier is the same as height, meaning there is a huge amount of variability, human choice, that determines how tall one is, but can you actually "choose" how tall you want to be? You can put a lot of work, diet and exercise or negligence of both, into getting to the height you want, but there is clearly a height your body wants to be. Why should gays fight what their genetics tell them to be?

@drunkmonk..a persons physical make up is not the same as their mental make up..I would think that is widely understood tho many disagree, usually those with some sort of agenda...nor is a persons heredity/genetics directly and I would argue, even remotely tied to how a person ends up as a person. There are now laws to stop any discrimination based on genetics. Homosexuality is a fetish..a pathological perversion that is tied to deep rooted psychological issues. You fit the profile perfectly. =/

That's an interesting view you have, and it is one you couldn't possibly find a single psychologist to agree with, since they know that many aspects of your personality are very much physiologically controlled, because of the case of Phineas Gage. I appreciate that you want to share your view, but please try to base it on science.

And you keep saying I'm some narcissistic self-proclaimed genius. PULEEEZE! Claiming to be smarter than you, someone who "believes" their way through the world, instead of "thinking," is a far cry from claiming to be a genius. I don't think I am particularly special, just that I am, in fact, a scientific thinker.
