  • Craig Cameron doesn't use cruel training methods at all. If you've even seen him work in person, you'd know that. And I have. With my ten year old mare. It wasn't Craig that tired her out, but rather herself. Had she had good groundwork manners, well, let's just say that she might have still fought if she had never been saddled before. Any horse will. Not matter how much you work on the ground. I have personal experience of this by using my own mare. Any questions?

  • You consider being less than 100yds from him not seeing him in person?

I agree that the mare tired herself out for the most. However, it was pretty ignorant on his part to use a horse with NO ground manners and/or foundation training for a colt breaking clinic.

Why would I have questions for you? Perhaps he did well with your mare but there is no excuse for what happened during this clinic.

Total lack of preparation on everyone's part and the horse suffered for it. End of discussion.

  • It's not the end of the discussion for me. My horse had poor ground manners as well, now she's happy as can be. And it was thanks to Craig. I do train my own horses now, and only because it costs less money on my part. And hell, I use his method, and all 20 of my horses are wonderful and great with even the loudest of children.

  • Your last comment has nothing to do with the video. I am not saying that Craig Cameron in all conditions is a bad trainer.

I am saying that he should have known better than to bring in a young Arabian mare with no ground training, into a very large building with loud noises and screaming people and expect to get her under saddle. It was just ignorant.

He may have helped you and your horse, but I'm guessing that your horse(s) were handled in a much different manner.

  • It was amazing to watch the differences in technique between Monty and Craig. I personally am fond of Montys ways, but of course everyone is different.

I did feel bad for this poor filly though. But the end of his demonstration she was exhausted.

  • I was there. I like Craig Cameron but my English riding friends thought he was awfully harsh. So the filly is ok then? As her owner you did not believe he was cruel? That it was not just a show of machismo and ego at your filly's expense? I am seriously asking because I'm pretty torn about this. There were arguments in the car all the way home from Columbus.

  • I have no problem with the bucking. However, had the horse been given the proper groundwork before throwing her into this situation, she would not have put up as much of a fight- I can guarantee it. If training is done right, it should be effortless.

  • it's a horse and a training lesson, and yea the exhausted after bucking and running around the little arena

  • This mare leads on a loose rope and ties. She is extremely sensitive to touch . She did indeed join up with him and yield to his pressure. She did not flee in fear or cower or shake. I think overall, Mr Cameron did a good job with this mare. She is quick, smart and reactionary and she gets mad but does not try to hurt anyone. I am working with her to keep her from getting mad in hopes that she will be on board with her training. She also has a trust built with me that she did not have with Craig.

  • This mare is indeed tired but she is not rough, in my opinion. I happen to have the pleasure of owning her. She is actually very sensitive and very people oriented like most arabs. She has a will of her own and is determined to do things on her own but can be brought on board. We took her home and rode her twice on Sunday. She is doing great. Craig gave her a start but did not ride- we are happy to say that she is being ridden and will be as soft as butter with huge heart when she is finished.
