The real problem at this intersection is that the traffic light on the corner at the Bank of Montreal meant for the East Bound Traffic on the #1 is turned and is visible to Northbound Alexander. People think that they have a green and pull out. The light directly ahead and above alexander is high enough that you can't see it depending on how you sit, and I also get the light on the left blocked behind the column next to the windshield.
All they have to do is turn that light 45 degrees.
Perhaps the decision on where to put these lights, the spacing, the time it takes for the light to change to red should be re-evalutated. It seems that the time it takes to change from green to red is too short for these heavy fast moving vehicles to stop. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
oh and by the way. you cant do shit about salmon arm. people of sa own you. bitch. Bulldoze the town off the highway is my answer??? what the fuck... how about we sa people teach you a little lesson in respect. you fool
Tell the city to change the intersection by the top of the hill Tim Hortons or put a light up by 7-11's intersection, instead of putting up lame apple sculptures by the bank etc etc.
The town needs major changes, agreed. Trucks are meant to keep rolling idealy, not stopping for pedestrians but Salmon Arm brings this confict to itself. Bulldoze the town off the highway is my answer.
Mayor Marty Bootsma has mentioned to Highways Minister Kevin Falcon that this is the only city in BC that has Highway #1 running through it. Surely this demands a red light camera with $500 fine warning signs on either side of it to remind drivers that they are driving through a downtown area.
