I don't understand why we gave Bush a free hand. His view about open markets set us up for what happened on Wall Street. If I were Bush, I'd hide my head the rest of my life. He got us into that War in Iraq, our national debt is such that it will take several lifetimes to pay it down. China owns us because of it and costs are going to go through the roof when things get straightened out. The man should be ashamed of himself and he was a C student in college, how the heck did he get re-elected?
That's right, it's called inflation. It happened in Russia during the cold war - people walking around with wheel-barrels of cash just to buy basic necessities. The US dollar would turn into a chinese yen and the entire economy would be devastated.
The $700 billion bailout. Can we just give $1million dollar to each middle working class and will fix every thing.We will save over $660 plus Billion and fix it over night ez idea.
Bush is a greedy retarded moron who has screwed this country for the last eight years. But his effort to fix the problem was genuine (albeit far too late.) I hate the idea of a government bailout, but I hate the alternative even worse; sky rocketing inflation, double digit unemployment, soup lines, etc. Americans should call their Congressmen ASAP and tell them to vote for the next proposal.
In '99 Clinton asked Fan. Mae & Fred. Mac to lower their standards (for the poor). Following 9/11 interest rates fell drasticaly, then in '02 Bush asked Fan. Mae & Fred. Mac to lower their standards again. Here's the big one: In '04 the SEC failed to properly regulate Credit Default Swaps or insurance policies on mortgages. Financial institutions were allowed to hold only 3 cts for every dollar of risk. That permitted institutions to "gamble." Bush and the '04 SEC Chairman are the ones at fault.
But whose brilliant idea was it in the first place to give every person a house regardless if they could afford it or not! Social engineering is a horrible policy. Hope is not a policy by the way....
Oh yes, Bush also encouraged the beginning of those stupid Adjusted Rate Mortgages, no one has done as much damage to a country as Bush has done to the U.S.
If it were, the middle-class' money is shit and they have worked their asses off for nothing.
I'm actually going to say,thank you all 131 repupblicans (GOP) thhat said NO to this bill, and also 90+ democrats. And FUCK YOU to whoever voted yes.
Seriously, why bailout a company that has already screwed us over by making stupid decisions? Multi-million dollar loans to people who have no way of paying them off just becuz of housing market? Jeez
The spineless House Democrats rear their ugly faces again today. I believe 141 House Democrats, along with 66 House GOP'ers voted yes to Bush's $700 billion bailout proposal. While 90 plus House Dems, and 131 House GOP'ers voted NO. I thought I would never say this. But thank you to the 131 Republicans who voted against this insidious bailout plan. and thank you to the 90 plus Dems who also voted NO.
Well, today is a great day. It looks like the House has just told George W Bush to go fuck himself in regards to his $700 billion bailout plan of those crooks in Wall Street. And the DOW falls more than 600 pts as a result. Thank you House of Representatives for actually doing the will of your constituents and all the other people you serve.
the real cure is to let wallstreet fail and put the mortgage underwriters and schemers that perpetrated this fraud in jail..sadly these money institutions are so intertwined with our monetary system that middle america will fail alongside..This has been coming since the early 80,s when reagan proclaimed the govt was the prob and not the solution.. 28 yrs of an assault on any kind of common sense regulations concerning wallstreet.
If I am a General Buiding Contractor,,,Let's say for ex. I will contract to build a Mansion for $2 million and I will run out of money in the middle of it..because of missmanaging my funds. What can I do??? Run to the bank??? and ask for a million (that I can NOT pay back anyway??) to BAIL me out to finish the project?? NO!I should go belly up and get the hell out of this business. But somehow the government wanna help them!not mention Bush's grandad was a Original Federal bank member!!fuk Amero
well bush the only thing he did was dig a hole that he couldnt fill for 8 year the nation suffered for his stupid mistakes now everything has skyracketed and alot of ppl lossing there business, jobs and gases are ridiculously high and he still asking for more money why doesnt he put up the cash his the one who asked for the loan he sould be the one to pay it. just like every loan
What a sham Congress. An embarrassment disgusting.
What were you and your constituents doing for all those years?
These are all your pals on Wall Street (Democrats and Republicans) And what about a Democratic controlled house? To see these hearings is a joke as we know about all the gifts from the folks you are going to bail out.
I wish more of us listened to Ron Paul who has been warning of this for a long time.
Give the bailout money to those whose 'subprime 'debts are 'the origin of the problem' by paying off their mortgages;
the banks get the money, get rid of their bad debts, many of the poorest families in the land get a foot-uo ,realty prices stablize , the extra disposable income of those families flows into the economy as savings or expenditures; this could be administered by teh feds; a conddition of the payments is the creditind of the same money to the above homebyers;

Sadly the soup lines are coming anyway.
Hopefully the government doesn't burn all of the crops and slaughter and bury all of the livestock like they did in the depression.
The Chinese are the ones with the factories and it will be a lot cheaper for them to use their own products when they allow the $ to collapse.
They won't even need to ship em.

Unless you happen to be in the upper 1%, you have just been f_ucked by the government.
Voting for McSame would be like rewarding Bush for his ineptitude. We need a leader for the 21st century, not one for the 20th century.

If there isn't a bailout soon, you can expect to see soup lines for the millions of homeless and unemployed!
Call your Congressman today and tell him/her to vote for the next proposal!

It was the democrats bad social enginering to put a house in poor peoples hands that started this crisis.......
