is there anywhere that you can get pure hydrogen peroxide? i am making something for my science class and have heard that H2O2 turns into its gaseous form when forced through a fine, sterling silver mesh, was wondering if thats true, and if it has to be pure H2O2....anyone know???
Yea, it's the gangster rap generation, they just get dumber & dumber, give America another 50yrs & we will all be dragging our knuckles on the ground grunting at each other
jealous.. theres idiots in your countries too, and you sound even stupider when you say its because of gangster rap, keep watching youtube so you can walk around with your knuckles touching the ground, because it sure as hell wont be your nuts
Interesting stuff! I have been leaning towards silver because it doesn't seem to degrade as a long term catalyst. This is still a learning experience for me and I appreciate your information.
HI friend... I should say, that in this case specifcally, the catalyst decomposition was too slow, because my H2O2 73% is too much stabilized, and in these situations, SILVER is not a good choice to been used as catalyst...
I prefered to use Manganese Oxide, this agent can decompose H2O2 so fast
I'd love to see you throw a chunk of platinum in there ;)

is the silver consumed in the reaction, or does the O just leave the H2O2?
unnet1 9 months ago
@unnet1 the silver is oxided but not consumed... and leaves vbapor or water and mainly O2

gotta share: when the 2 substances react try to light it up. . and see what happens. soo cool :))

I have 35% food grade and it burns your skin on contact.

I bought a quart of 17% Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) from my local hydroponic store (Atlantis Hydroponic) for ten bucks. Food grade baby!

At any store.. it usually comes in a brown plastic bottle and it's 3% HP and 97% water.

H2O2 and a silver bed catalyst was used in the attitude control rockets on the X-15 test plane...
These were the rockets that the pilot used to control the plane when there was very little atmosphere for the control surfaces to work with.
The main rocket was LOX / Anhydrous Ammonia!
Now there's a reaction to set off on your driveway !!!
BLAMO!!!

Does this process actually release or produce hydrogen that can be used in an ICE?

The reaction at 70% is slower than I expected, have you experimented with the lower concentration of 35%?
I've been looking to see how fast a lower amount can be catalyzed into steam, with the end result operating a steam piston engine.

Ahh Ok i understood.
It is a brass screen, that passed by an chemical proccess, where silver was put in this screens..
Humm.. i dont know if I explained enough.. but i dont know how to explain it in english..
chumbica 4 years ago
what did u put in there
Sk8trMan4 4 years ago
Silver deposited in a brass screen

its not pure enough its really small concretion of it....
