In the last two finals Kobe guarded rajon rondo(no offense to rajon but he was a weak offensive player back then) and last year Kobe guarded Courtney lee mostly. So basically he's guarding a teams 4th or 5th option. And Roy usually guards the 1st best player on the other team unless nicholas batum is there so his d is not suspect

I think Kobe has a better supporting cast. Of course a team will improve if you trade benchwarmers for an all-star. 1st half last year the Lakers were another first round team, and Kobe was an MVP candidate. They add Gasol, Kobe wins MVP, Gasol gets very few all-NBA votes.
