  • Loved every second of it!

  • @is2daytuesday thanks! it's one of my older videos but certainly the one that's gotten the most "airtime."

(I really *must* get around to adding it into my live show.)

  • Great sound on that Ukulele. Is it really that powerful?

  • @markocchionero sorry I missed this one, Mark.

yes, it really is and furthermore, this was recorded when I had it in D tuning. shortly afterwards I moved it up to F tuning (CFAD, a fourth above "standard") and it just barks like a big dog. I'm very happy with it.

  • Great I want one too!

  • Just enjoying this again - Great stuff, Howlin'~!

  • @MrJnobianchi thanks so much! I *really* need to practice this piece up and start featuring it in my live shows.

  • Howlin Hobbit you are a UKE MASTER!!!!!

  • @WASTELANDelf thanks! I don't think so myself, but I'm not half shabby. ;-)

  • Excellent. Nice little uke

  • @krabberscovers thanks! yeah, it's quite the ukulele, especially for being such a teensy little beastie. it barks loud enough (especially now that I've tuned it up to F) for me to use it outside busking.

  • It's hard to tell what strumming you're doing. What is your pattern? I like.

  • @guyute74 I rarely think in "patterns" so it's hard to answer this question when I get it. The best I can tell you is that it's a combination of just straight on the beat chops with triplets thrown in.

  • Magic!

  • This is one of my favorites and when I get my own uke, it is going to be the first song I learn.

  • @jhankri feel free to download my version (link is in the description) and recall that I've done it in several tunings and keys. currently I'm working it up in regular C tuning because I'm concentrating more on solo shows with sound re-enforcement (so I can sing in my lower, but quieter, range).

I'll be happy to help with any questions you might have. send me a PM and I'll get right back to you.

and thanks much for watching and commenting!

  • Awesome

  • Cool you are gettin better

  • you are awesome

  • Awesome! You give it just that bit of jazziness it deserves.

  • Hey HH I just received your EP thru the mail. Thanks. This song is great!!! The whole EP is stuck in my CD player for awhile.

  • This was a nice song. Thanks for posting it.

  • I'll bet this great performance is a big factor in Ohana's SK 21 sales! I just ordered my sopranino. WONDERFUL JOB! THANKS.

  • I'm starting to see there is a whole underground ukulele movement here on youtube. I just bought a baritone uke, am waiting for it to arrive. Cool, now i just gotta learn to play.

  • We are ubiquitous. :-)

  • i forgot all about this song! great cover!

    : )

    p.

  • Cool, I like this song. Good uke playing to!

  • my niece loves this., tyvm

  • Omg

I love your voice so much, haha.

You're not bad on that uke either, my man!

I've been thinking about looking into one.

  • FREAKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for your insightful analysis.

  • That was very cool, and thanks for showcasing the sopranino uke. That has a heck of a voice for something so small. It sounds like you have it tuned to C, but can it be tuned higher, say in F or G? Also, where do you get a case to fit it?

  • In this video I have it tuned to D but I've recently tuned it up to F.

It just lives in a soprano case with a little extra padding thrown in around the lower bout. I wouldn't mind having a case that was just its size, but I'm not holding my breath until someone starts making them!

    Thanks for the nice comment.

  • See all you fellow big guys?!?! It is possible to play a soprano even though you got big hands! Look at Hobbit here. He can slap that paw o' his all over the uke and still make the enchanting sounds that we always get from a HH video! Good job HH, just droppin by to tell you that I will join the quest to inform big guys that the soprano is still playable! (Next quest is for the reputation of friction tuners.....(whiny voice)"To hard to use!!"(end whiny voice)

    !!BAH I SAY!!!

  • um...okay...i wasn't planning about going to the woods so...um...yeah lmao cool

  • Wow, am I ever falling behind on things! Thanks to all of you for your nice comments!

  • that was just awesome HH! the sopranino sounds great!

  • Great job! That little uke has great sound. Is it's neck more narrow than a soprano's?

  • Yep, it's a bit narrower. Thanks for the kind words!

  • The sopranino sounds great, and that song is such a fun song. Great job!

  • Very nice rendition, HH, you are one cool ukulele player. Funny, I find exporting from iMovie the ONLY way to upload vids to the 'Toob successfully these days! But I'm an iConvert of only a few months. Keep posting!

  • HH, You are the best. Thanks.

  • Great singing!

When I was a kid I always wondered what the heck "Watch them, catch them unawares" meant. I thought "what are 'unawares'? are they like underwear? and why are the bears trying to catch them? and shouldn't it be 'their' unawares?" I think it was the Anne Murray version, back in 1981.

    And I love the t-shirt.

  • Great song, and that sopranino is adorable!

  • Crisp strumming. KEN.

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool song! Glad you're enjoying it. Sounds great!

  • sounds great man!

  • Awesome song, Hobbes! Dang, that thing's pretty loud!

  • Great fun song and I just love that little ukulele.

  • totally frickin awesome. 5 stars HH... good job

  • Welcome to the wonderful world of sopraninos! :)
