  • @WarriorOfTheOldWays1 ah your lucky

  • There is a much better way to fillet walleye... You can do it without cutting any bones and only takes 2 minutes max, I was taught from a pro at filleting ( my dad)

He does 5-7000 lbs a year (commercial fisherman). I will make a video of it some day till then i really laugh at all these people who dont know how to do fish, I can also do jack fish y bone but you do cut them

  • way to go buddy haha, same way i learned how to do it! right on and great job cleaning the walleye, cheer's!

  • well done buddy, best way to do em

  • he spread fish shit all over the 1st filet

  • What about removing the Y bones?

  • @Jackle61 walleye dont have Y bones they just have spike bones

  • @999outdoors It may be wrong but, we just use "Y bones" as a generic term for the bones that need removing, whether it be a walleye or a pike. If teaching someone how, we usually use the correct terms, otherwise we know what the guys mean when we give each other sh*t.

  • love this narration. could listen you you all day :D

  • thank you for not wasteing that fish. iv seen too many cut terribly.

  • ahhh...per regulation...must be a Canadian.

  • WOW...this guy really knows how to fillet a walleye...must be from MN or MI or WI. Wow...great job. Most people don't bother with the cheek meat...but they are missing out, as it is one of the best parts of the fish.

  • @ugotbawlz haha ya eh! i watch these videos before i fellet my fish, but it never turns out the way they do them on here . and ya the cheeks are so good

  • this guy sounds like happy gilmore

  • Man that is a sharp knife. Nice job.

  • Hey nice vid and fish, would you join our forum? the links on our channel.

  • did you scale the walleye first

  • @gamefreak11000 Walleyes don't have scales, that's why you just take the skin off.

  • @Jackle61 uhhh yes walleye have scales....

  • @wazy338 My mistake,,, I don't know what I was thinking. I must have been watching sturgeon videos that night.

  • what brand and model filet knife is that, also what sharpener do u use, that fucker was sharp!

  • Props that was clean and fast.

  • Thats a damn sharp knife!

  • 12 Volts Electric Knife, easy and fast

  • go you dude that was awesome

  • In the Netherlands, it's "fasion", to C&R , if you catch a Zander , and it's a nice keeper, i'll fry! The law, allows you to keep 2 zanders ,per person , each day !

If i catch a few nice ones , say , a couple of 60 cm zanders , up to 70 centimeters, i'll take m home , and have a nice meal.

Just a few years ago , it was normal, to take a few with you , we still can keep a few nice ones, so ...i'll never quit eating/ fishing for zander.

    It belongs together!

Its natural, you hunt for fish!!!

  • nice job, helped me out

  • You rock, Tailgate Bob! That was about as simple of an example as I needed! Walleye, watch out!!!

  • Are you going to eat those?

  • he did the cheeks first

  • you forgot the cheek meat!

  • ? I think I saw him cut that out.

  • jesus nicely done

  • damn PRO!

  • yummm fish cheeks

  • He's obviously done that a time or two. Do you remove the pinbones at home before cooking? I usually do it right after fileting.

  • u shouldn't do that with your wedding ring on. That's the only thing I can find wrong.

Also, you picked your ear at the end with fishy fingers. You could get an audio infections doing that. Otherwise great job.

  • Nice...Smooth and deliberate...Obviously this dude has cleaned many fish in his time...Pay attention folks...Hopefully a knife honeing demonstration will be in the works right after the "Beer Swilling Made Easy" demonstration. Nice fish....Keep yer tip up!

  • beer

  • haha filet

  • is niet goed

  • he skiped a step ..still has bones in it..

  • yea he skipped a step, theres one long strip of bonesin the middle. but hey some people like there fish crunchy LOL:)

  • no, Y bones are only in fish like northern pike, his fillets are boneless

  • thats why he said pinbones and yess walleye have bones right in the middle of the fillet you fool some younger warm water fish wont

  • ribs yes, but y bones are destroyed when you fry it.

  • y bones in a walleye that size cook out, in the bigger ones (20in+) you should take out the y bones.

  • no y bones in a pickerel man.

  • @elwayxxxii "walleye"....pickeral have y bones

  • Thanks for making this video.

  • It's actually pronounced "Fill-ay" not "Fill-it"

  • The verb is 'fillet', the noun is 'fiil-ay". Sorry, I'm not a know-it-all or nuttin'.

  • I think the narrator had one to many beers.

  • you can never have too many beers :)

  • What is the proper beer/walleye ratio?

  • LOL, good question zebra61. I think the ratio somewhere around 1:1

  • @compsol75 i think its 6 beers to one fish

  • @compsol75 i think that depends on whether or not you had a good day's catch or not... some days the beer to walleye is more like 2:1 or even 6:1...

  • Really like the video. Very helpful. What knife are you using. I want to get one before my next outing

  • Nice....Im hungry now :)

  • where is there a regulation that says you need to leave a piece of the skin attached?

  • Hi hetman11,

Thanks for visiting my channel, and leaving your comment. The following is a quote from the 2006 Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary document:

"Ensure you leave at least a large patch of skin on all

fish fillets for identification purposes. Since anglers

often transport various species of fish, it's their responsibility to ensure each and every fillet of their catch can be identified."

  • Thanks for the kind words HighNortherner. I don't kn ow what brand of knife it is. I do know that he hones it before each use.

  • This is the best walleye filet video on YouTube. Perfection! Thanks for posting.

What brand filet knife is "Tailgate Bob" using? I have two, and neither one holds an edge.
