I play 4b, don't play enough to graduate past it. As for speed, I play the songs at around speed 4. If I see too many bars on screen my mind gets confused, at the same time its easier to follow a tempo.

i took that to account when i posted the comment. and by that, i also said that "dj max underestimates its demographic", because most of them are hardcore music game buffs who excel at these kind of games to begin with. so what i'm saying is that the audio cues should be more spaced out, in adjustment to the average skill level of it's players.
