  • Lol you can imagine him thinking after Hiroshima "Phew! i dodged a bullet there!" a few days later..."oh, for fucks sake!"

  • Japanese culture is so isolated, they can throw humor but they sure cant take it. I wouldnt have apologized, dark humor brings light to terrible thoughts, its a calming of the system as long as you dont personally mean it. Whether is were Holocaust or 9/11, its not different.

  • England and Japan are two very different cultures so sometimes we will offend each other by accident. BBC didn't mean to offend Japan. This TV show is about learning interesting historical facts and make jokes so that it's fun to learn. It's normal for British humour and we don't mean to offend. Sometimes Japan can offend European people by accident and not know too, example; if comment about how big our European noses are, is offensive but not in Japan. See, we're just different :)

  • There are too many paranoid people in japan.;-(

  • I'm Japanese but didn't feel offended at all by this tv quiz show.

I didn’t think English people and the panel intended to insult the Japanese victim at all.

One more thing, PLEASE the video owner, DON'T pull down my comment which was voted high ( 10 votes) a week ago. Youtube video is in democratic domain and not communist.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

The video owner did nothing to your comments. There has been no activity of his for about 2 months. Top Comments are regularly changed to new ones by YouTube.

MrAntiwhaling, please answer to my questions. Its rude to not answer me when we are in discussion, and to start a new comment like this by completely ignoring our past discussion.

  • @MrCrusader321

Hah? I have been reasonable from the start, whilst you have been badmouthing to me. ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. I have wanted to understand you with sincere, so when I found something I don’t understand, I asked questions. And when I found your misunderstandings about my idea, I corrected. But you never listen.

You say that you know England, then explain it to me.

  • @superguizi You say its "strange" that we British mock ourselves, so that proves my point that you dont understand our culture! secondly you did not say the Holocaust joke within the same context and wording as the comedians did ATALL! they only joked about train systems and Mr Yamaguchis good luck! But I have heard English comedians joke about when the Germans bombed us in the war! Holocaust is not funny because millions died! Train systems are funny because its not connected with any deaths!

  • @MrCrusader321

No, you read wrong. What I am saying is different. I will explain it to you.

You and others constantly say, "British people mock themselves and even their bloody events." So your logic is, “We mock even our bloody events, so what is wrong with mocking others bloody event”. To this logic of yours, I said "strange".

I think the usual logic is “Mocking others require more cautious than mocking myself.” Your logic is vice-versa. So I said strange.

  • @MrCrusader321

So you think the Holocaust joke is not funny. Then why you think the BBC joke is OK, when they are virtually identical. They have the same wordings, and the only difference is that they are set in two different situations. The holocaust joke also talks about the great German train system.

You said the Holocaust joke is not funny, b/c million died. But a-bombs also killed a lot.

  • @superguizi your hollocaust joke is completely off point because as you've been told that wasn't where the humour was directed. but i'll tell you why your logic is wrong anyway.

the jews were an innocent people who did not attack anyone. the japanese empire at the time was equivalent to the nazis, therefore your joke should be about a german citizen avoiding bombing by british and americans, not a jew. your chinese joke is a similar fallacy.

  • @0saycheese0

Your 1st paragraph says that the two jokes are aimed at different things. But ,No, you read wrong. The Holocaust joke and the Chinese joke are both for COMPARISON as I wrote. So you should comprehend them as they are told in the same way as the BBC joke. Otherwise they lose their meanings. So their humors should be placed on the same thing as the BBC joke.

  • @0saycheese0

Your 2nd paragraph says that I have to rewrite the joke, because Jews were victims and Japanese were aggressors.

So I understand that you are virtually saying that BBC joke is OK, b/c it’s the joke with Japanese who were aggressors.

Further I assume that a joke about a Dresden civilian German is different from the Holocaust joke and would also be OK.

  • @superguizi We English people mock ourselves and our own tragic bloody historical events constantly! i know i mentioned that to you before but its imperative that you understand this point! because if you can understand this then you will understand our culture! its not being nasty, its just us English dealing with tragic events in an English light hearted manner! no offence was meant to be caused.

  • @MrCrusader321

You still dont understand me. You mock yourself isnt the point. I mock my tragedy without problem. The point is if you make jokes using a big tragedy of others like Holocaust 911 or Nanking. That is why I made the Holocaust joke using the same wordings and asked if you laugh at it. It seems you don’t. So there is no difference between our cultures. Then why is the a-bomb joke OK? I assumed that British people think lightly of a-bombs and said I was disappointed.

  • @superguizi I really believe that this never ending argument is based on two countries not understanding eachothers cultures properly. The comedians were not being nasty and vindictive, they were just being English! so maybe the comedians did not realise that Japanese people are such a sensitive nation, and on the same note i think most of the Japanese people that took offence to their comments are not cultured in understanding English culture.

  • @MrCrusader321

I don’t think this argument is based on the difference of two cultures. You don’t seem to laugh at the Holocaust joke. I don’t laugh too. Then there is no difference.

BTW is mocking yourself special? You and some others sound like British people mock even themselves, so its ok to mock anyone. This is rather strange to me. In my case, I can mock myself without problem, but when mocking others I am cautious.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

You know, you should better stick to the topic. You should not bring up English mistakes, you should not use bad word, you should read carefully.

You support British people, that is OK. But by your way, you make British side look bad and illogical.

Also by arguing with you, I look stupid too, and we both are Japanese, Japanese look stupid.

  • @MrCrusader321

I understand the comedians are praising J-train system and bashing yours, also understand that they dont actually have bad intentions.

But what I am saying is that the whole joke is inappropriate and their ignorance. They made a-bomb jokes rather innocently which disappointed Japanese people. I thought that a-bombs are such a small matter to British people and thought the danger of nuclear wars is still there.

  • @superguizi Basically, Britain and America give money to muslim nations which they use to try and destroy us with! Do some homework little boy.

  • @superguizi So you feel sympathetic towards muslim nations? well, maybe you think muslim countries would all be much more responsable than America if they each had possession of nuclear bombs??The UK and America pay vast amounts of money to Pakistan each year for Aid but their governemnt gives large sums of this British and American money to terrorist organisations to help fund them in destroying innocent western lives!

  • @MrCrusader321

"So you feel sympathetic towards muslim nations?"

Who said such thing? Why didnt you answer my questions?

I am disappointed with you with your comments with lots of hates and ignorance.

  • @superguizi So your still not going to point out the exact joke then? Anyway, you said my wording was "low level" hahahaa well i have just noticed many mistakes in your last message to me, so i will give you a quick English lesson ....

  • japanese people are racist...and stupid.

  • fucking english mather fucker. they also must enjoy recent tsunami very much.

  • ha ha ha could the people who get offended by this have any lower self esteem? LoL to be so fragile in your self shows true weakness of mind. Have some self respect, some dignity, and how about you show a little honor. You bleet how offensive it all is and at the same time don't even educate your children about 731. That's far more offensive than some humor which you don't understand. when ignorance leads to hatred and anger you get the foundations of fascism. which ironically Hiroshima stopped

  • @TheBreadSultan

I thought 731 is not related, so I didnt reply. But I tell you an interesting thing to you. 731 and Nanking are both taught and well known in Japan.

But most British people dont know opium war. Most British English teachers in Japan didnt know it. You know what is annoying to me is that many English teachers behave like a moral teacher when talking about war issues. But reality is that Japanese people know more about it and British people know less.

  • @superguizi This reply is shallow, incorrect and of course completely baseless.

"most British English teachers" so you have met them all have you?

Or is that just the kind of sweeping generalisation the far right is so fond of?

It's funny you think you are defending Japan, but you are not. As i said, it takes a weak minded individual to become so hot over something so small and innocent.

Perhaps if you replaced you rampant nationalism, with some actual national pride, you would be less fragile

  • @TheBreadSultan

You seem to be the weak minded nationalist you want to label on me. Look at your 731 reference which is not related in the first place

Actually, one student in English school told me that most British teachers dont know opium war. So I asked about it to three British teachers, and they didnt know. Unfortunately I soon changed the school to the one with Filipino teachers which is much cheaper. So I didnt ask to many British teachers, but one student asked to many.

  • @superguizi Actually here in Europe we are once again leading the world.

we have moved beyond the petty and small squabbles of nationalism and live in the worlds first and only post-national system.

If you were not weak minded then you would not have become offended by this clip.

Nothing you can say will change that fact.

And I made the 731 ref, because I have been to Japan and people DON'T get taught it.

And with the fury over the Russian Kurill islands also many don't know even about Potsdam.

  • @TheBreadSultan

People cant see themselves clearly. Lots of British and Americans have too strong nationalism. Look at your ref. to 731. Its a clear sign of it and low self esteem. Very childish. Kids often say that others did the same when scold by teachers. 731 is not related in the first place, but you dont care. You dont have a gut to face the BBC joke, so instead you brought up 731.

  • @superguizi Actually in the context of my original statement it was relevant. You cry offense because you feel (because you are ignorant) that something against Japan was made light of (cos of BBC joke), many things that Japan did to others in WW2 were made light of, by the fact that until VERY recently it was not taught in schools. (FACT)

You are clutching at straws, even trying to use my own points about you against me. You fail.

  • @superguizi

Shame on you! Who is childish and low self esteem? That's YOU, OMAEDA!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrAntiwhaling

You cannot answer my question and lost control.

  • @TheBreadSultan

I know 731, nanking, Potsdam others. Yeah, not all us know. They forget.

How about British English teachers in Japan. They are uni-educated, and like to talk about Japanese war issues. They behave like a moral teacher when talking such things. So we can expect them to not forget basic history like opium war. But they dont know. Why is that?

My impression is that they have low self esteem which is often seen among English teachers, and want to feel better by lowering others.

  • @superguizi Why do you think it is that these people feel a need to be "moral teachers" about the war in Japan, yet no body would ever feel that need with a German?

  • @TheBreadSultan

Because they have very strange idea. Perhaps BBC and other media brainwashed them about Japanese war issues.

    Another example.

    English teacher; Japan never apologized.

    I: We did.

    ET; Never

I; We did. Prime minister did, Emperor did and others did.

ET, No, you are wrong, You are brainwashed by right winger and nationalistic Japanese media.

Now they know the truth from Wiki. Why even foreigners in Japan who seem to have interests in Japan dont know?

  • If the joke below was on BBC, what do you think?

A Jew was in Germany when Nazi started hunting them, and was sent to a concentration camp. Luckily he survived. Maybe the gas bounced back out of the gas chamber. (laugh) Then he was sent to another camp. German train system was working under the heavy bombing, not like us (laugh). He survived again (laugh). It was the wrong kind of gas (laugh). After all, is the glass half full or half empty? Either way, its gas, dont inhale (laugh).

  • @superguizi oh for gods sake just chill out!!! Failing that just shut up!!!

  • @superguizi You said your against "this joke" , so can you specifically tell me which joke you are winging about? tell me the exact joke please? i really want to know!

  • Comment removed

  • I cant believe your all still moaning about this!!!! Englands favourite country in asia is JAPAN! thats really true so can you all just stop being so soft and move on! its ridiculous now!

  • @MrCrusader321

Actually my favorite European countries are the UK and Germany. My first overseas travel destination was the UK.

Yeah, it is ridiculous to still talk about this kind of thing.

  • @superguizi They have already said sorry for any unintentional offence caused! just move on with your life and SHUT THE FUK UP! England has been invaded and attacked from foreigners more than any other country in europes whole history but we dont keep moaning about it!! we deal with our bloody history with humour! that way we can make light out of a dark situation! but on this show they were not even insulting japan anyway! if they were insulting you i would admit it to you!

  • @MrCrusader321

    Off point again.

Insulting Japanese? No. It is more like BBC is disgracing themselves. The reason why I am against this joke is it is inappropriate and hurts victims. Do you make a Jewish joke who survived two concentration camps?

Is this really so difficult to understand my idea?

  • @superguizi

    Hey, man, calm down,

English people didn't intend to offend the nuclear victims at all!! from my point of japanese view!

The panelists were even wowed by the fact of the amasing train system.

Even myself, I couldn't help laughing at the running train, cuz I didn't know the train was running the next day of the atomic bomb!

  • @MrAntiwhaling

    You still dont understand.

The train system was great, but its not the point.

If you dont understand my idea at all, you might be in trouble in the future when interacting with people. Be careful, and study well.

  • @superguizi

Are you sending me a blackmail? Do you know what you are doing?

Now the world sees what you are!!, coward.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

    ???? You are funny.

What I am saying is very simple. But you dont understand. So I am actually saying that you are ... a stupid. Stupid people will have trouble understanding other people too and therefore will be in trouble with other people. So I said to you that you should be careful and study well.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

  • @superguizi

    · Nobody can't laugh about your joke. .

    Do you know WHY?

Because it contains vicious spirit in it.

On the other hand, NO panelists joked about the victim but about the bomb.

    What's wrong with it?

British people tell jokes about terrorists even though many British soldiers have been killed.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

So you agree with me. You dont laugh at my joke which was meant for comparison and had the similar wording with the BBC joke. It seems you support my idea, but at the same time you seem to support BBC joke. Why is that? These two joke are identical. Why do you have different opinions for two same thing?

And it seems my Holocaust joke was deleted. So someone working for YouYube must have agreed with me and thought such a joke was inappropriate.

  • @superguizi there is a big difference between the holocaust joke and what the panel are talking about. I will point it out to you so that perhaps you can understand why YOUR joke was offensive and deleted, and antiwhaling is rite, it was said in a viscous way. aside from that.

The jews, gypsies, various ethnics and communists were innocent victims of an attempted and systematic genocide in which millions lost their lives, the Nuclear bombs ended a war that Japan started

    you can't compare the two

  • @TheBreadSultan

    I was very amazed.

So you think mass bombing on ordinary people are OK. How about 911 jokes? People in the WTC were American. Muslims think America is waging war on them. So to Muslims Americans are not innocent.

And you are for WMD. This is amazing. How about chemical and bio weapons. In my opinion, nuclear weapons hurt human genes, so it is most inhuman among the WMD.

  • @superguizi don't try to put words into my mouth. I'm not FOR wmd, but it's worth remembering that M.A.D. Has kept WW3 at bay, and created peace where there would otherwise be war.

And now your making stupid comments about Muslims...yea cos they are all the same right?

and after all it's not like Japan nearly converted to Islam in the early 20th century and the gov. funded Hizbollah among others...

Or that when the USA tried to remove it's nuke missiles from Japan last year the Gov. objected?

  • @TheBreadSultan

You dont understand why I referred to 911. I am against both Muslims idea on 911 and your idea on BBC joke. You and Muslims have very similar ideas, both supporting killing civilians. And you think its ok to make fun of victims, b/c we stated war?

Whats this early 20th century thing?

"when the USA tried to remove it's .... last year the Gov. objected?" When? Never heard of it. And why do you relate me to J Gov. I am Japanese but I write my own idea here.

  • @superguizi Home-grown terrorists attacked London on 7/7 - we made this film. ( watch?v=Ew-SrlQ9tlI ) My friend died in those attacks, and I found this film to be funny. That is called having a sense of humour. you FAIL to understand the style of humour in this clip. You are ignorant to it because it does not exist in your own culture, and you are confused because you appear to be quite simple.

and FYI the Muslim idea on 911 is that its wrong, you Bigot.

  • @TheBreadSultan

Culturral difference? But BBC apologized. why is that? It seems there is no difference. Are you british BTW?

And I concluded that your opinion is that we started war, so nuking civilians and making fun of it is OK. Do I understand you correctly?

Again. name calling? I didnt reply to you first, b/c you used F-word. Your using such words and bringing up unrelated things make me think you are a very weak minded guy.

  • @superguizi Are you seriously suggesting there is no cultural difference between Japan and Britain? really? are you quite sure about that?

Sticking with that, what you need to understand is that no one is making fun of anyone except the British train system.

You may perceive it as making fun, but it is not. The fact that you think it is, is an error based on the fact that you are putting your own values on our words.

Again, Anger and outraged, based on Ignorance. The very foundation of fascism

  • @TheBreadSultan

sigh. Please read carefully and answer my question why BBC apologized.

Another Q is, is your opinion is that we started war, so nuking civilians and jokes on them is OK.

Also I want to know, Did BBC use the twice-nuked man on this joke, because he is Japanese which started war? British people think any jokes on Japanese is OK because we started war? It seems BBC does not think this way. But I want to confirm.

  • Comment removed

  • @superguizi you know what? previous comment deleted as everything about england v japan culture has been said. the japanese i know can laugh about heavy stuff and about themselves like english, and don't need an excuse to be outraged like you. even england has a few twits that like to get angry on other peoples behalf, so... you guys can get together and form a new nation... i think there's some space on the moon.

  • @0saycheese0

As I wrote to your comment earlier, I was neither offended nor outraged. I was disappointed. And I am getting more and more disappointed with the comments here.

  • @superguizi

I couldn't laugh at your joke because your joke is SHIT!

  • @MrAntiwhaling

Yes. That Holocaust joke is shit. But why do you think the BBC joke is OK when the two jokes have the same wordings?

  • @superguizi

What a shame!!!!!!! You have lost a good English teacher!

Because you removed the corrected remarks on your full English grammer mistakes.

  • @superguizi

BBC DIDN'T joke about the Japanese victim.

SHOW ME!!! Which part of it, are you talking about?

  • @MrAntiwhaling

    Hah?

My Holocaust joke and the BBC joke are identical.

Why you think they have differences? Tell me about it.

  • @superguizi

Tell me, WHY your SHIT joke and the BBC joke are identical?

NOBODY thinks even they are similar.

I told you before the reason why I thought they were completely diffefent each other, and TheBreadSaltan also told you his opinion WHY they were different.

TELL me now! WHY do you think they are identical jokes!

  • @MrAntiwhaling

They are identical, because they have the same wordings. The only difference is that they are set in two different situations. No difference.

You said that Holocaust joke has a vicious spirit, why do you think so when two jokes have the same wordings?

  • @superguizi

The same wording? What do you mean? Nobody here understand your English.

By the way, why did you put spams on MrCrusader's corrections to your grammer mistakes? you sneaky bastard!

  • @MrAntiwhaling

Same means same. Unfortunately the Holocaust joke was deleted, please read my Chinese man joke. You can find it about 100 comments earlier.

I didnt label MrCrusade comments as spam. Do you have evidence? Why do I have to do such thing? He corrected my English. Its not relevant with the topic, and talking about English mistakes is usually considered as a bad argument. So, for me it is rather better not to hide his comments.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

TheBreadSaltan told that Japan started the war, so a-bomb joke is ok.

    Do you agree with him?

It seems TheBreadSaltan is British. I want to know if many British have the same idea as TheBreadSaltan.

  • @MrCrusader321

I didnt reply you, b/c of the f-word and the low level of your wording.

I agree. We have to move on, But at the same time we need to know history. We must move on with the past history. This doesnt mean we japan and European countries have to keep apologize. Yeah some Japanese are ignorant about the past, but so are Europeans. And my experience is that many Europeans feel much less guilty of the past and think they did good to former colonies and never apologize.

  • What I am angry about is the ignorance about a-bombs and victims. Now there are next generations of the victims. They are afraid that their DNAs might have defects and trigger cancer. They are afraid of having a time bomb inside them. They affect for generations. I heard Hiroshima girls had difficulties to get married long after 1945. This is N-bombs BBC should know.

I dont want to play victim as a Japanese. But there is something wrong with people's view on n-bombs in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • there was no disrespect intended from an english point of view. you can sit in japan and say 'they disrespected me!' but if you can't be bothered to understand our culture and the meaning of things we do/say in their own context, then you should probably not observe us at all, because you will just get offended for no good reason. for anyone else, hope to see you in england some time, lol.

  • @0saycheese0

I am Japanese. I dont think British people disrespected me by this joke. The point is different. I disrespect them by this joke. I am more disappointed than angry. I am very disappointed because they are laughing at such an inhuman thing. I wrote a joke below, please read it. It is about 10 comments below. You might understand what I am talking about.

  • @superguizi

It demonstrates that Japanese people tried to be loyal to their job under such a difficult situation, which is incredible! but sorry to say that it looks a bit daft.

I can figure out the image of one carriage tram was running at the speed of a bike in the war zone wiped out by the bomb.

The situation was too horrendous and because of that, it made us laugh.

Do you know that, both misery and funny are one side another?

  • I'm Japanese but I didn't get offensed by this quiz show at all.

Japanese people who felt offensed dont get British humour which is very different from ours. Actually we dont have any humour ourselves ;)

Anyway British peoople even take the piss out of themselves.

I just want to make it clear that British people didnt insult us at all, rarther they were amazed by the Japanese train system and the strength of Mr. Yamaguchi.

  • @MrAntiwhaling

So you think we Japanese have no humor at all. Interesting idea.

But anyway, you are off point. Please read my other comments.

  • There was outrage in Japan over this? This is so harmless, so respectful... I'm German, we lost that war as well (thank God!) and we have been mocked by the Brits about it ever since. A similar bit about the bombing of Dresden wouldn't have raised an eyebrow in Germany. What this tells me is that we all have to make fun of Japan more so that they get used to it and get a thicker skin...

The only externally visible part of the urethra on a male where semen and urine is secreted from the body.

Known as a 'Jap's eye' due to the similarity between the shape of the stereotypical Japanese eye and that the opening on the penis is much like a slit.

  • Your comment is off the point.

Rickshaws were there, great Chinese work ethics, not like us. (laughter) There he was in the middle of mass killing. (laughter) He survived again. It was the wrong kind of Japanese sword. And lot's of innocent people are made victims to many things every day. Besides the attack on Japan was over 60 years ago, most have moved on.

  • Here you can find white men's nature.

  • @unbuwabuwaunbuwaunbu It's a joke...

  • i agree furious this movie.but, that a method is unsolavable anything.

that means, we are same south korean and chinese that recall old problem criticize attack with japan.

we are japanese.i think this problem is stopped keeping a memory and understand a fact this movie. and must not making use this movie as a criticize attack.

  • fuck UK!!

  • I am sorry for what happened to the innocent Japanese BUT It was all said in a joking manner. As one poster said most of the jokes were about the british rail.

    I dont see and disrespect.

    Regards,

    Mitch...

  • Most of the jokes and laughs in this video come from their disbelief that the trains were still running, compared to the British trains which are known for their lateness and low quality. Most of the parts where Fry recounts the story are met with stunned silence as people are amazed at his unfortunate luck, with next to noone laughing AT the man for being bombed. I can understand why people would think of this as offensive, but it's not really. This clip is merely meant to tell his story.

  • yeah we do remember pearl harbor but we never make fun of it.

  • FUK BBC!

    FUK THEM ALL !!

  • Sucks as a human being!!!!!Go to Hell!!!!!

  • wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Is what you Japanese freaks say.

  • horrible. i'm speechless.

  • I am a Japanese journalist / professor, Yukie Kudo. The commens here are SO offensive beyond belief! I often visit Hiroshima / Nagasaki Peace Museums, but I bet accepters of this programme have never visited these places as their commenst prove their total ignorance . How do you reply to the official documments by US which state they dropped the bomb with racial descrimination as experiment!! Arrogant assailents have NO right to laugh!! My mail address is yukiekudo@mopera.net (just FYI)

  • @TheTearsOfPuppys hahahaaa

  • i don't even consider this dark. They say nothing to offend anyone. Anyone that could have been even slightly offended died in 1945 anyway!

  • The funny thing is that Japanese get so offended every single time the word "Hiroshima" is mentioned, while they don't seem to care at all when their politicians openly deny every single war crime Japan's army committed during their adventures in Asia.

"No respect for the victims" they complain. Talk about hypocrits.

  • thats not so bad! christ i think its just hard for other countries to 'get' british humor. i wouldnt have a problem if i saw a foreign programme taking the piss out of the July 7 bombings, as long as it was tasteful, as this was. its not worth crying over by japanese people. i wish i could read what they're writing in the comments.

  • What's the problem? It's dark, sure but, It wasn't incredibly offensive. I was expecting much worse and it appears my fears were unfounded.

  • Jokes are the best way to reveal the truth clearly! This is very good. I am a Japanese now in uneasy situation of nuclear plant crisis.

  • And Japanese people please stop with this holier than thou attitude. People do bad things on TV in Japan too- not that i agree this is bad at all. Refer to the Obama monkey advertising vodaphone, the J Pop bands wearing SS uniforms, the racist foreign steriotype, the blacked up comedian pretending to be MJ.....All of these things would be considered TERRIBLE in any other country...Japan rarely changes its ways for western values...so why should the British do it for you???

  • @breakmikedance "...J Pop bands wearing SS uniforms..." J Pop bands? How did one band become plural? And if someone did something offensive in Japan and did not apologize, that would be bad mannered.

So why are you defending the bad manners of five British men and the BBC?

  • @JeremiahA40 Firstly I and many others do not think that the QI incident was anything but informative and in good taste. Lets get that clear. Just because you and others believe it was in bad taste does not make it so. This is a matter of opinion and also a lack of understanding of cultural differences. Secondly there are many things in Japan which are the norm, or usual, which people from the west also find offensive and rude.

  • @JeremiahA40 J Pop bands wearing SS uniforms...how did one band become pleural? Well this highlights perfectly my point about non native speakers, or those who grew up in a different culture, not fully understanding the fine nuances in the English language. This kind of expression, when one thing is pluralized, does not always mean that there was more than one....Its just way to express the point more naturally. Think about this and apply to your supposed understanding of the QI discussion.

  • @breakmikedance JeremiahA40 is a native English speaker and he is an American grew up in America. Toshiko is a Japanese woman and she is not a native English speaker. I am not criticizing British humore and culture(some idiots in Japan might have done though, but there are always idiots in all over the world).

  • @breakmikedance I am talking about only about this program of this show. Every country has different cultrue. What I want to say is just like Kishidan hurt some of the people's feeling so the production (Sony entertament) and the band needed to apologize to hurt their feeling. The same thing here. And BBS apologized to Japanese people and that is the final. It is not a culture matter.

  • @breakmikedance Sometimes TV shows or musicians only think about how to make the show interesting and forget about people's feeling. If you could read Japanese, you could find not all of Japanese were angry about this show. Some of them understood the humor in here. But it didn't make others understand. Kishidan thing is as well. Some thought that wasn't a big problem. Costumes look cool so it was ok. To me, it is not.

  • brought up in the UK, or Europe to even begin to get it. Please do not critisize us for having a sense of humor that you cannot really understand and using it to discuss an issue in Japan. Japan is constantly pissed off with foreign intervention in its affairs...with whaling for example, so they should understand that when you dont fully understand a culture you should not begin to point out its problems
