@TheDalinkwent, have you not paid attention to the economy at the present time? Obama is not in Congress anymore, so he has no power in the legislative process. The Democrat party have been fighting on the healthcare crap. Some don't think it goes far enough, and a few don't want the single payer option. Liberals extended the definition of torture to include waterboarding. It was never considered torture until now. So no, it is not torture
superjeff14, you are a moron. Still, waterboarding is not torture, it's not in the Geneva convention and also it has saved thousands of American lives. But Obama being "too conservative". @brtrep13 Waterboarding is torture, we excecuted our enemies years back for water boarding. Don't you think that if Obama was this radical statist, we would already have single payer instead of the watered down crap we have now? wall street is still running wild and the free market is booming, so your logic make's no sense.
@brtrep13 ~ you can't name one life saved by information due to torture of alleged terrorists. even the bush administration admitted this. not one plot foiled by torturing detainees.
in fact, it produces bad info, people tortured will tell captors anything they want to hear. not only is torture illegal, it's counterproductive.

You're not making any sense. It really isnt argueable that this was torture. It says it is torture in the geneva convention, and the United States has signed the Geneva Convention. I know conservatives aren't very good with logic but this means that waterboarding is torture. Just because they stop waterboarding a person doesn't negate the fact that while they were doing it they were torturing them.
Same old shit jeff. To republicans, torture is not defined by the methods applied it is defined by who's doing it. Geneva convention is for the little countries to abide by
Got to love YouTube. Any idiot can put themselves on and prove what fools they are. Pharma was a big bad corporation also. That is until Obama cut a deal with them.
Superjet--It is not in the Geneva Convention, nor does it apply in the actions in either war we are fighting as the enemy has to wear uniforms or other items that can mark them as the enemy. Terrorist are nothing more than mass murders.
@cowboybill117 Hmmm, terrorists are mass murderers ey? So when the uniformless IRA was been funded almost exclusively by Americans to blow innocent brits to pieces how come nobody was arrested for financing terror including republican Peter King of Long Island (IRA's #1 fundraiser) Also when terrorist Luis Posada Carilles blew up an airliner killing 73 innocents, why was he harboured and protected and allowed to live in the US as a free man by the Bush administration. Harboring terrorists?
BRTREP Your right, the housing scam was set up by Clinton, Obama(helped write the bill),Dodds, Frank and other Dems. Dems paid friends 200,000,000 for 6 months work, Dodds and Frank were 360,000 richer.
@cowboybill117, I'm glad you know the facts and are not denying them. It's pointless to try to get libs to realize them especially on youtube, however, it's always worth a try.
this video is just more of Obamas paid for media, Facts, Obama made deals with AARP,AMA.Drug companies and Insurance. Big insurance gives 20% more to the Dems than to the GOP. Everyone of the facts I wrote are very easy to prove.
SadegoGG, either you are very ignorant or you just can't read. I never said that the only reason the economy failed was because of the housing market. However, it was a huge part of it and a lot of it was because of the Dems policies. This is why I can't stand liberals, they are ignorant and sometimes just plan stupid and it is a waste of time and energy trying to get them to understand the truth and actually open their eyes. The ones that rufuse the truth are drones and are bascially hopeless.
You do know wars cost money right? The big reason the economy collapsed was because of the housing market meltdown which was caused by the Dems, although Bush DID do somethings that didn't help like the first bailout, you can thank your buddy Obama for the 10%+ unemployment and for the deficit which he tripled, foreign policy was a lot better under Bush, waterboarding is NOT torture, the wire-tapping was for our national defense, and I forgot the Bush caused 9/11 and Katrina. Always Bush's fault

Waterboarding is torture. After world war two was over we tried and executed the japanese who waterboarded our soldiers. It is also called torture in the geneva convention which the U.S. has signed.

Your wrong, it's all associated with the Federal Reserve. We have two governments, a constitutional republic (Senate, President, House of Reps, etc...) then we have a private monopolist section (Federal Reserve, National Banks, etc..). The National Banks print money out of nothing then charge interest. This interest can't be paid off, or there will be no money. So the economy dies whenever we print money. That's why the economy crashed.
tomitstube, you IQ is much lower than I originally thought. But for drones like you, there is no hope for you. We conservatives outnumber you Marxists and that will show in the 2010 elections. America is sick of your destructive policies and they are ready to take this country back. If you don't believe me look at the polls. Even the liberal media's polls are showing a drastic drop in the messiah's popularity. It's even worse for those in Congress so just remember America is watching.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@brtrep13 ~ lol, so now it's ad hominem attacks on my"IQ"?
"destructive policies"? you mean the trillion dollars bush spent in iraq? the two wars, an economy collapsing, the wall street bailout, rising unemployment, a surging deficit, a foreign policy in ruin, a non existent diplomacy, an american reputation in shambles, torture, wire tapping, katrina, 9-11, mission accomplished, stem cell bans, curbing civil rights, weapons of mass destruction, yellow cake...
The reason Obama's poll numbers are dropping is because democrats are not pleased with his performance. The republicans never liked him from the start. A lot of democrats are mad because Obama is too conservative and they want real change, not bypartisan "compromise"
@allhomosshouldie ~ two more references to "faggots" and still "homo" in your name. either you're a knuckle dragging ignorant redneck or... you need some dick to suck on.
awe, the poor filthy rich people, who will shed a crocodile tear for them? i guess that would be you brokeback.
the top 5% owns 95%. they aren't paying enough. how about the free loading church? they pay nothing. you tea baggers are fucking whiny ass hypocrites who take more than anyone does. fuck off loser.
tomitstube, unlike you, I have read the Constitution countless times. Not once does it say the government mandate the citizens to buy purchase any type of product. So yea, I know exactly what is in there and know what it means. I don't twist the words to make it fit my agenda like you liberals do. So before you make another stupid comment, think before you right.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@brtrep13 ~ i agree with you on the mandate. liberals are against it. you're so programmed to blame liberals for anything and everything it just proves you automatically spit and drool tea bagger hysteria.
of course you righties "twist the words to fit (an) agenda". are you serious?! righties put more restrictions of civil liberties an civil rights than liberals ever thought about doing. duh, "liberal", what the fuck do you think that means?
@allhomosshouldie ~ are you gay? every comment you make is a freudian hatred of homosexuals. even your user name has "homo" in it! you're obsessed with it aren't you?
ooh, all that tough talk, bet your a pussy too. an internet tough talkin cry baby wussy who's too afraid to admit he's gay. all that hatred, must be eating you up inside huh? boiling, toiling, hatred. hatred. hatred. poor baby. why, i bet your playing with it right now!
volcombillx3 it is obvious that you are a Constitutional illiterate. Liberals ignore the Constitution and they try to twist the language in it to support their agenda. It's either they are just incompotent or don't gve a damn. Just wait until 2010 when a lot your dumbass liberal congressmen and women are voted out of office. You drones are hopeless and are not even worth debating because you ignore facts and ultimately the Constitution.
Get your facts straight in your own head. You can't even listen to what he said and you go off on your own ranting tangent.
Simple test taking skills from college was "ANSWER THE QUESTION BEING ASKED... NOT THE ONE YOU WANT TO THINK IS BEING ASKED."
Go back and listen to exactly what the Republican said. He clearly stated Health care does need reform and he can see areas we can do that without giving all this special interest crap to Democrats and their CRONIES in CRIME.
Can't you even pay attention to what's being said???? He was very clear Republicans are not trying to kill health care reform, they are trying to stop this bad legislation in this bill because it's bad for all of us. You go on to call him a joker and ask what else could the republicans be doing???
How about they are trying to save us, the American people, from all the BAD crap contained in this bogus ripoff bill????
hes opposed to the bill as well...as am I. liberals dont want a mandate without medicare expansion or a public option
hes just pointing out the fact that republicans and a few dems weakened the bill, got all the concessions they wanted, and are still voting no.
"We are trying to kill this bill" - Sen Coburn 12/13
They helped bring us a bad bill so they could blame the dems. Thats politics. Obama should have seen it coming. Now the only person to blame is himself when he signs it into law
Hey you liberal intellectual lightweights, can anyone of you show me where in the Constitution the government has the authority to force people to purchase health insurance? You guys should know since you know what's best for the country.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@brtrep13 Article One, Section 8. You should read it dumbass. They do the same thing for auto insurance. That doesn't make it good or bad, but mandating health insurance is perfectly within the enumerated powers of congress.
Hey moron volvombillx3, do you know why we have to purchase auto insurance? We purchase it to protect the other driver in the event of an accident. This healthcare would require us to purchase insurance for OURSELVES dumbass. Get it? You don't understand the Constitution or in my guess, you have never read it. You can't even begin to compare health insurance to auto insurance but idiots like you don't have a high enough IQ to figure that out.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@brtrep13 The distinction between protecting ourselves and other drivers is irrelevant to my point.
"Section 8: The Congress shall have power To lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defence and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States"
There's alot more than that, but you should get the idea. Mandating health insurance is perfectly constitutional.
@volcombillx3, you forgot about the specific details it says Congress has the power to do . It ends To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof, No where in there does it give Congress the authority to force you to buy health insurance, or tell you which doctor you can go to.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@brtrep13 Of course congress's powers are limited but it says quite clearly congress has the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, ad excises to pay for *the magical word* the general welfare of the United States.
Your not making anysense. You maybe too young to have ever worked with private insurance, but they are goons. Congress isn't going to tell you which dr to go to, private insurance already does that
Not sure if u kno but the rest of the world figured this out years ago
Liberals don't want to be forced to buy private insurance any more than you do. Unfortunately it isnt up to us. We are just serfs toiling on the masters land.
you better not fucking tell me this entire thing is a maneuver by repubs to call out dems on lobbyists, hell if even enough repubs pull this shit we're in danger of a revival
paranormal17, we have THE BEST HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD. If you don't like it, then move somewhere where they have it so you can wait 3 months to see a doctor. It is a great thing that we don't have a Marxist style healthcare system.

steveduran... You are so ill informed. It was your Democrat party who caused the financial meltdown. The leader of that was that moron with that lisp Barney Frank who led the charge in destroying the housing market.

Barney Frank was bought by Wall Street as many of other congressman and women up at capitol hill. The financial crisis happened when the republicans held the majority, so they are not innocent on this matter either. Corporate lobbing is a problem and needs to dealt with PERIOD.
All of you dumbass liberals who think republicans just want to kill this disastrous bill, well you are right, however, they have a plan to actually reform the medical system without completely destroying the best system in the world. However, the Marxists won't let the Republicans have any say in it at all.
if you want to blame somone for housing and finantial market failure.googl community reinvestment act.if not stfu because your ignorance is astounding
Actually, Democrats began the housing bubble, as well as the entire bubble chain in the 1990s - the Republicans simply let it play out. Looks like they are both wrong...

what the hell? first off, our health insurance system is one of the worst out of the worlds great powers! we are the only power that does not have universal healthcare. wanna know why? cause all the filthy rich republicans dont wanna give up a dime of their corruptly gained money. why is the bill "disastrous?"
The $246 billion the CBO estimated the legislation would save Medicare "can't both finance new programs and help pay future expenses for elderly covered under the federal program," as the current bill has it doing, the budget office said, "Nor could those savings be used to extend the solvency of Medicare, set to run out of money in 2017," Bloomberg reported.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm from Texas, I don't trust this senator, there just seems to be a disconnect on the heart of the issue. Millions of people are without health insurance, and 40,000 Americans die because they lack health care each year. Isn't it reasonable to pass reform now?
Cornyn was against reform because it contained a public option. Public option went away.
Cornyn was against reform because it contained Medicare expansion. That went away too.
There is no denying he is completely against health reform.
You have it backwards, it is the creative and productive who are being stolen from by those whose only seeming skill is to vote themselves benefits and entitlements via the police power of the federal government.
first of all noone wants health care reform more than the republicans who have been fighting for it since before even clinton, and obama is deliberatly trying to rush this bill in the middle of a recession that he caused so the people will be to weak to resist him, its what hitler did, its what stalin did, and it is nothing short of tyranny, and thirdly the republicans are the populist party made of patriots and real americans, while the dems are terrorists, nazis, and communist insurgents
Of course the actual Nazis are people who use silly terms like "real Americans", as though somehow they have some sort of untouchable quality that makes anyone besides them a second-class citizen.
The insurance companies are the only thing that needs to be reformed..... The conservatives and republicans protect them tooth and nail... So that means we need to reform NEOCONS as well.
This bill is a first step now in a year or 2 Democrats can put up single payer or public option as stand alone bills not as part of a huge health care overhaul..... get it?
There is one segment of our economy where the health insurance companies don't have a hold. The military. Um, wait, that's a universal coverage system. Oh hell, we've got to get the government out of that! No real Christian American patriot would want government health care! Right? But. that's just there to take care of people who need care and have more important things to deal with. Um, sort of like those of us who work 1.5 jobs. No smoke-screen here.
I live in Australia where we have a government run universal free health care. (subsidised for doctor visits by 75% and free for operations) Dentistry is however not subsidized at all. Compare all that to Cuba where it all is free, damn socialism, helping people, how dare those commie bastards help sick people out for no cost?!?
This is not only a huge win for the medical insurance companies, but this bill will make them stronger than ever. This bill will make them into King Kong because they get more customers and it will be paid for by tax payer dollars.
The Democrats are beyond stupid. The Republicans are overflowing with crap because they are full of shit.
do they think Americans are so stupid that they can pretend republicans are to blame? How can republicans be the scapegoat? The dems own and control the executive branch and both houses of congress. Republicans are powerless, insignificant non-players in this bill.
@xxramblingsxx You're kind of right. The democrats should have NEVER tried to reconcile or negotiate with the Republicans in the first place.
If the Democrats really wanted to get something done, they would have. The Republicans are even more wrong on the policy, but they are powerless and ineffective due to Dubya.
At the end of the day, the Democrats deserve the blame for this weak sauce, and weak behaviour.
I wouldn't take it that far. lol I'm not saying the Republicans are blameless, just that they should be ineffectual.
Trying to destroy change, is just as bad as incompetently managing it in my opinion. The democrats screwed the pooch, but that hardly makes the Republicans into angels.
republicans are lying sacks of shit..they have said we will do anything to kill this bill..this is just what the republicans wanted this is what they added to the bill their own amendments.. they were paid for the by the insurance corporations..with the help of the blue dogs and the sell out of Obama the republicans got everything the insurance companies wanted
Expanding government causes America to lose confidence in Washington. Obama's policies are against the private sector, against the generation of wealth, and against the strengthening of the economy. Like Jimmy Carter, Obama fails to inspire confidence.
@xxramblingsxx Why are you repeating word for word talking points? You guys won! No need to repeat your filthy lies, on a channel which clearly doesn't want to hear your AynRandian nonsense.
I don't know if Paul is a fear monger, but he certainly lacks a complex understanding of macro economics. Of course by all accounts Obama understands economics and still chooses to shaft 99% of Americans through Geithner.
The Dems are just a bad as Republicans. There are all taking money and owe the corporate monopolies their votes. Americans real fight is with the Corporation's hostile take over of the Federal Government! Our Government is so corrupt, nobody feels like they're being represented. The media keeps the smoke screen of tempers between the left and right, while the Mega corporations and international bankers rule our government to their best interests not the American citizens.
You Americans gotta get rid of these old fucks. Pieces of shit fuckheads that are old and deserve to be kicked out. Get young people for your future. You all sit and vote for old fucks like this cocksucker and wonder why shit doesn't get done. Rich pricks that only want money. Old shitheads.
We should call this bill "The Life Tax" because the mandated health insurance without a real set of options is quite literally a tax for the right to live.
39% of country that are dems will vote to keep democrat senators in office in 2010, but the 37% who are independent will not. And the independents will vote Obama out in 2012. This happened to Carter in 1980, when the economy failed to recover because the president failed to inspire confidence.
@verstwo2 Ramblings is a fucking troll he prays that will happen but we have yet to see and it seems unlikely since dem have become republicans and republicans have become buttfuck retarded.
There ancient sayings that go something like : "To catch a fish you muddy the water." If we want to get reform we have to keep it simple. We could start with a bill that just gives a public option with no other amendments. That has such popular support it would have to pass. The way blue dogs and GOP defeat bills is to muddy them up with amendments designed to piss of target groups.
*sigh* When are people going to finally wake up to the reality of American politics?
It's not about Democrats vs Republicans. Hasn't been in a long, long time. The only thing that really matters is whether a politician (*regardless* of which party he/she belongs to) is working for Wall Street, or if he/she has the interests of the people in mind.
The whole Democrats vs. Republicans thing is a big farce; a way of keeping people distracted from the REAL source of the problems in society today.
Good point, at least we won't turn the whole world into the crap we are in. Luckily there are still jobs for Americans...in China, Japan and South Korea, and they like hiring Americans even if we can't speak their language.
wow, this Corny guy is mad about the win for the insurance companies? i paid slight attention to all this, but i'm sure they were the one fighting for insurance companies.
Democrats are not acting responsibly. When do they realize that everything that will go bad is accredited to them, even if it was really the Republicans who were against it. People will check what happened and who was in charge and if the people that are in charge can't get stuff passed it does not really matter who was against what.
But realistically it is the Dems fault. Weakness is like a religion to Dems. The only Dems with any fight in them are Weiner, Rockefeller and Grayson. The rest are sheep.
correct and I think that adds to my point. not acting responsibly is their own fault.
I am just worried about the lack of alternatives. You're right about those three Dems that seem to be quite the fighters, but if the only alternative to a weakness stricken candidate is a crazy right winger, what do you do?
I know Cenk's trying to stick it to the politicians, but it comes off as defending a terrible bill. Democrats can't keep blindly defending this thing. They made too many compromises and it's time to face the music, take a loss, and start over with a real bipartisan effort.
The point he's trying to make is that after all the concessions the Democrats made in this bill, in an attempt for bipartisanship, Republicans still voted against it.
They, the Republicans, are never going to work in a bipartisan manner, just hoping that no-body is paying attention.
Cenk's not defending the bill and there's no such thing as a bipartisan effort in anything anymore.
There's two parties who both want to desperately remove the other party, and who have shown us repeatedly the depth of their greed each time they are given the responsibility to run this county.
Luckily we still have some Progressives in office who will kill this bill before it enslaves Americans even further in the service of the rich. The rich have pulled off the greatest coup in history right under our noses.
The constitution is shit, it was made by a bunch af rich racists. Then we say we whant a better nation. Under the constitution??? It seems to me that the "Republicans" are fighting both sides. There are good Dems, but a lot seem to be just Republicans in Democratic clothing.
One is Obama, in that he's hired the same moneyed interests (Bernanke, Geither, those in bed with health industry etc).
The other is those fighting "against" it, seemingly trying to look bad, so folks vote against it.
Even with something good like universal healthcare, rich arseholes can find a way to fuck it up.

@brtrep13 Article One, Section 8. You should read it dumbass. They do the same thing for auto insurance. That doesn't make it good or bad, but mandating health insurance is perfectly within the enumerated powers of congress.

Mandating health insurance is perfectly constitutional.
volcombillx3 2 years ago
@volcombillx3, you forgot about the specific details it says Congress has the power to do . It ends To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof, No where in there does it give Congress the authority to force you to buy health insurance, or tell you which doctor you can go to.

It's not about Democrats vs Republicans. Hasn't been in a long, long time. The only thing that really matters is whether a politician (*regardless* of which party he/she belongs to) is working for Wall Street, or if he/she has the interests of the people in mind.

@mikebee02 Um, you should watch the 3 other clips Cenk did from this same day... he's not defending the bill.

Cenk, hates this bill
