  • Best dad ever!

  • Great review! Thank you, this really helped me make my decision to purchase the product.

  • Great review, it wasn't just personal talks with the same shot of the bag for 10 minutes like a lot of reviewers do, You showed every angles, each pockets, the shots with you and Anthony show exactly what size the bag was. And so I was able to get much better idea. Thanks gwynn1975 !

  • That bag is to big for him

  • @infamousfogal Thats a bag his dad bought him and will be with him forever if he takes care of it. You're too big for your britches. ;)

  • can this bag sin-ch up near the shoulders and not hang like in the vid to your butt? if it can't then this is not for me.

  • @ravi930 Yes it cinches up nice and tight. He just didn't do it for the few takes we did for the review

  • LOL, when you were talking about the concealed pocket, you mentioned him carrying a magazine or comic book and I initially thought you meant a "pistol magazine". God, I'm such a "geardo"

  • @spectre1979 HAHA.. Well, he carries those too, just not to school.. LOL.. thanks for watching

  • Great review. Now that your son had the bag for over a year, how do you find the bag holding up to daily use? Thanks

  • @blinkblinknohero I'll have to ask him. He doesn't live with me, so I will make sure to ask.. I'll let you know.. thanks for watching

  • Great review I'm going to buy one now. But I bet his friends, are giving him shit at school fot it.

  • @cusack171 why would his friends give him crap about it? they actually ask him all the time where he got it..

  • @gwynn1975 I wasn't trying to be nasty, sorry. The review is fantastic!, and his friends will love the bag I'm sure. What I mean't was, like kids having fun, they'll give him shit for being on youtube with it...if not, well, all the better. They would in Australia though.

  • @cusack171 Oh ok.. LOL.. misunderstanding, but you know, kids can be nasty if you don't have the "name brand" from the Mall stores. But, this is the one he wanted, so I figured it would last him, and now it's is camping pack.. Thanks for watching

  • @gwynn1975 Sometimes brand names last longer...either way what a cool dad for getting for him, take care

  • Great review, thanks for doing it.

  • @Nako521 Thanks for watching

  • Enough of this bag nonsense. What kind of watch are you wearing? Looks luminox-y

  • @kennysutch It's actually a Timex Expedtion

  • You can make any back pack into a gear slinger simply by putting one strap around your chest.

  • @PUNISHERUltra True, but it's not nearly as comfortable as one that is made to be worn that way.. thanks for watching

  • Man, I wish I had a father like you. Buying a $129 bag for his son. Awesome!

  • @yenhan705eh77 LOL.. thanks.. He deserves it..

  • That thing is enormous on him. The only two real complaints I have on the Monsoon is that it does not really distribute the weight as well as reviewers try to say. Also, the internal main pouch is enormous and all the books or other stuff settle to the bottom and throws off the balance of the bag. Good review, thanks.

  • @wolvee123 I agree.. He loves it though. Books will settle at the bottom of any pack though when worn on the back. thanks for watching

  • @MasterBlaster747 Yeah, I would like to see a pouch on the sling also.. The way kids go through bags, lightweight ballistic nylon is a prerequisite for them.. LOL thanks for watching

  • thanks for responding

  • wish it was on an adult to see how the bag lays good clip though!

  • @d45014 It's a pretty good comfortable bag for adults too. My son had the straps pretty loose for him to take it off easily for the video.

  • Can you take off the waist strap?

  • @Nighthawk961 no, it's not removable

  • @Nighthawk961 It is not removable, but you can roll it up and store it in a small, elastic pocket.

  • is this good for a one day hiking trip? and is this comfortable to wear with the Jumbo versipack?

  • @20GATE91 I don't think it would be comfortable with the Versipack since both of them are single over the shoulder straps. It is comfortable by itself though

  • wow, lucky kid. Are the straps adjustable?

  • @paintdataint Yes the straps are adjustable

  • Great review! I'm sold...ordering now. Thanks!

  • @linuxdream go to Maxpeditions website and use GOAL as a coupon code to receive 10% off

  • @gwynn1975 Awesome. Thanks

  • Great review, often reviewers will stand too far back or at an odd angle, this makes it hard to see just how big it is, your vid was perfect!

  • @SleepyFox79 Thank you so much.. I appreciate it..

  • While I'm sure that it's true that alternating the side is what they'd like, but sling packs distribute weight differently than a 2-arm pack so it seems odd. Maybe the next time they're doing one of those "ask the cast" chat for Stargate Universe someone can ask how they like them :)

  • he's got the coolest pack in school.

  • @jsutton414 I agree!! Thanks for watching

  • Great Review. Just ordered one from Jasper Mountain Outfitters for $89.44 including shipping.

  • @OilTheGun WOW..great deal..I know you'll enjoy it!!

  • @OilTheGun I can't find it on their website. Can you link?

  • @mavue just google maxpedition.

  • The only reservation I have in choosing this for a book bag is that book bags can get kind of heavy, and a lot of chiropractic and other bone and posture people suggest the regular switching of shoulders a book bag is carried on to help equal out the "wear and tear" on the shoulders and spine. it doesn't look like this bag can be rigged for changing shoulders, I noticed you mentioned your son never complained, but is it something you consider an issue? Thanks for the review it was well done.

  • @rampantunicorn Thank you . I'll have to look into him switching sides every so often.. thanks again

  • What size was that laptop?? I wonder if it will hold a Vaio Z?

  • @azbanbo Anthony's laptop is a mini net book, but the bag will hold a laptop with up to a 15 inch moniter

  • @gwynn1975 Thanks, that's good to know. I'm considering getting this one.

  • @azbanbo awesom.. I'm sure you'll enjoy it

  • What size wa that laptop?? I wonder if it will hold a Vaio Z?

  • my only comment would be to change his name on the tag to just his initials. no one under 16 should display their name where another adult could use it to become familiar with him and possibly lure him to something dangerous. my sons were not allowed to do it and authorities also warn against it. just a safety precaution!

  • @lkcheat lol.. lure them.. ok.. thanks for the advice

  • How tall is your son? I wanna know what the size to fit comparison is of the bag. I dont wanna have the main compartment sagging to low by my waist

  • He is about 5'3 and he had the shoulder strap pretty loose for the video.. It tightens pretty good on an adult

  • What is the small khaki pouch attached to the side of the pack

  • The small pouch is Maxpeditions M2 Waistpack.. He uses it as his digital camera case

  • thanks for the quick reply. Can you recommend a pouch that is 6x3x3 ?

  • The closest thing to that size you might be able to get to is the 5x7x4 Horizontal GP pouch.. Other than that, you'll be getting something a little to small

  • what about the 4.5x6

  • yes, that one will work too.. Sorry, I thought it was thinner than 3 inches, but it is exactly 3 inches wide

  • is there something that will take 2 of the bottle. say 6x6x3

  • what do you mean 2 of the bottle?

  • yes. I'm planning on putting 2 of these pouches or 4 if needs be onto a fliegerduffel. We're making a long haul flight with twins and I plan to put the baby bottles in the pouches attached to the flieger

  • Oh I see.. I think the 7x5x4 Vertical Pouch would work good for that or the 5x7x4 Horizontal GP.. Just to make sure there was enough room.. You could always take up the extra space with a baby washcloth or something

  • so 4 of those for 4 bottles

  • I'm pretty sure you could fit 2 bottles in 1 pouch..

  • do the pouches stretch a bit then. The 7x5x4 would need to strecth just under an inch across to get the 2 bottles in or do you think the depth will help them both squeeze in

  • I know they won't stretch, but the depth might help offset the bottles.. Sorry, i can't really help you there becasue it's been forever since I had baby bottles

  • you've been a big help already fella. Thanks. Any idea if there is a pack that can be attached (for toiletries) and quickly detached !!

  • None of the packs attach/detach easily, but you could use one of the cuboids.. Thats what I use..

  • thanks for all your help mate. I really find your reviews helpful. What backpack would you recommend !!

  • No problem.. Thanks for watching. Depending on what you intend to do with the backpack determines which one I will recommend.> For day hiking and city travel, I like the Falcon II.. Its a great size for day stuff..

  • whats the main differences between the falcon2, condor2 & vulture 2

  • The size.. The Falcon II is the smallest, then the Condor II and the Vulture II is the largest. The Falcon is great for day hiking, the Condor would be good for a summer overnighter, and the Vulture II was designed as a military style 3 day assault pack

  • That bag will kill your back, I had one but had to sell it cause it killed my back and shoulders, not the ideal bag for kids. It looks cool but not very practical

  • Sorry to hear that your back and shoulders couldn't handle the bag. My son has been carrying for almost a year and haven't heard him complain once yet..

  • Well done, man. Lucky kid.

  • Thank you chris.. He loves his Maxpedition gear like his dad

  • Got mine from Militia Supply for $40 less than the maxpedition site :)

  • sounds like a good deal.. good job

  • awesome bag....maxpedition makes great products....got this bag for college and for RSP weekends.

  • yeah it is.. my son loves it for school..

  • you can bring the drinking tube out the earphone hole you just have to decide which you want music or water nice review and thank you for showing

  • great idea.. thanks unleashed630

  • NOT FOR HYDRATION BAGS. I put this comment on another review page too. I just wanted to warn people that the drinking tube has no place to go out the bag other than in between the sharp zippers that have to remain partially open to get the tube out. See the picture on the Maxped site with the tube and you will see what I mean. Other than that, nice bag and thanks again for the review.

  • Nice review. I just bought the bag from LAPG. I am wondering if you get paid to do product reviews? Why are you doing them? Just curious..

  • cdirado: No I'm not a paid reviewer, I just like to share my knowledge and products with people.. Plus, you never know who will see this and like it... :)

  • what a lucky kid ! love that bag, it is my E.D.C

  • I agree.. I kind of wish I would have kept it for myself.. LOL

  • Great review. Good idea for a teen as it is very modular. I like this gearslinger. Well done. Good luck in school Anthony!

  • Thanks ronin! It is a great bag for him.. he really likes it now that he's in school

  • Sweet bag!

  • Another great video. I have one question though, is there an advantage to having the tac tie buckle points towards the top of the pouch or bottom, or does it not matter? Thanks for great reviews.

  • Thanks firecode.. I don't think it matters, I just got used to putting them in "up" because the old Malice clips would stay connected even if they came undone

  • Great, thanks for the reply. Look forward to more of your videos.

  • thats one lucky kid getting such a high quality bag for school! nice one

  • Like I said.. Atleast I know it will outlast his school year.. LOL

  • That is awesome that they let him carry that as a bag. My kids have to have either clear or mesh backpacks.

  • Man that sucks... Its too bad that kids are subject to rules like that.. I remember when they started banning hats and sports teams jackets in school.. It's a shame

  • Yeah and we can't use white out because some idiot decided to inhale it. Let's see what they come up with next.

  • Gwynn..That's a good idea for the kids....Take care

    CJ

  • Thanks CJ.. I figured that bag will last the school year and be his hiking, EDC bag next year

  • sweet ,..

  • Laptops in middle school!

Back when I was in 8th grade..alllll the way back in 1997, laptops were half as large as the desktops, and twice as expensive anyways!

    Makes me feel old.

As usual, great review, and great choice! Puts my old highschool bag, a 1968 soft pack, to shame. :)

  • Insane isn't it? I was in 8th grade back in 1989 and we didn't even know what a laptop was....

  • awsome vid my friend and good luck in school to your son i start in collee mt self on monday i get my falcon 2 to day i want to juse

  • Good luck with college Peter.. I hope you enjoy the Falcon II

  • Thanks I will Be Woring on Going to the Us in Next Summer so

  • I remember back....8th grade you were judged by your backpack (always carried on just one shoulder). It was either LL Bean or Lands end for me, which kept me from being made fun of, but I couldn;t imagine someone coming in with a pack like a Maxpedition. Sure, In HS surplus bags were popular in some circles. I loved the ALICE pack I had in HS, I let people write all over it, I wish I still had it just for the memories.

  • Yeah I remember those days.. Now that we're older, isn't it a shame that you get judged by what you wear? That would be cool if you could find that old backpack

  • LOL.. It's a big deal when you get to 8th grade.. But he'll probably get another next year
