  • ohmigosh lookit the twitchy lil paaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwsssssss

  • where do u get them?

  • absolutely darling

  • Trop mignon!

  • Nope - definitely a Gambian :o) Both sub species have a two tone tail. It is the Emins Pouched Rat who has a defined two tone coat , rich brown and a white belly compared to the grey colour of the Gambian which fades to a lighter belly but no defined line between top and underside. I keep both species but the Emins are incredibly rare - we are having to work very hard to build up a captive population again.

  • Isn't that an Emin's pouched rat rather then a Gambian? As it has the two tone tail verses the solid brown colored tail of the Gambian....

  • they kind of a small dogs puppys, with there eyes and ears closed and short fur

  • i want one so badly and cant find them at all

  • I thought it was bad to tip/lay rats on their back as they cant swallow in that position, and held like that for long enough they ca suffocate on their own saliva.

Or is that during operations, when they aren't conscious?

I understand why your doing it though :)

And they are sooo cute btw :)

  • @ORSUMfezbubble they sleep like that - not ure about normal rats though as never see them sleep upside down!

  • Aww... I'm in love!

  • Awe. I miss when my rats were small. But now they are all grown up, and that size LOL. He's a big baby compared to my little guys :)

  • Wow pouched babies are more 'mature' looking than normal rats to be sure!!

How many babies do gambians have at one time?

He's very, very cute =o) I love his big nose! lol

  • Hi - Gambians tend to have litters of about 3 - 5 pups. 6 is the largest litter I have heard of and at the other end of the scale, they are able to raise just one pup also. It is unusual in rodents for single pups to survive.

  • That is very true, I breed mice for exhibition, and if one of my girls only has one or two kits I tend to put them in with another litter.

Mice need at least 4 to 5 babies to stimulate enough milk in my experience

  • cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute :)

  • he's dreaming...uuhhhh....

  • Soo sweet!
